i don’t think i’m ashamed of anything i own.
and i have Alice Deejay “Who needs Guitars”, great commercial electronica album, nothing to be ashamed of. And I have Aqua’s first album, with one of the greatest musical satires on it. I even have Milli Vanilli’s debut, and no shame there, afterall it got a Grammy :)
LOL but IF I had Hanson, I would be ashamed, they sucked big time.
IF I had Vanilla Ice I would also be ashamed, cuz that thief Sucked.
Denstandigaresan said on August 27, 2004 22:45:
Awwww... now would I REALLY lower my reputation by admitting I have a Hanson video? ;) Welllll, like PM, I ’Went through a faze’... have lots of their singles too. ;)
ally77 said on August 28, 2004 00:16:
Is there a video tucked in there, although I’ll admit I did buy a Hanson single once! ;) **there it’s out in the open** !!!

hanson, alice dj, cher, kylie minogue, backstreet boys, spice girls... what a shame, what rox fans are used to listen to...
feel shame... and hide them well ;)
RoxHard said on August 28, 2004 01:06:
“what rox fans USED to listen to”
Alice DeeJay hasn’t touched my ears in about 3 years! You may be happy to know I’ve progressed vastly! I’m listening to Beethovan as we type!
Euro4Ever said on August 28, 2004 01:12:
LOL Roxhard, I beat you. I’ve got 2 albums by Fragma, Toca and Embrace :o
And I’m listening to Mozart and Tzchaikovsky right now :))))
RoxHard said on August 28, 2004 01:16:
Hmm... strange how us (once upon a time) Fragma fans seemed to have transgressed appropraitely onto some of the finest music ever made...
Makes you ponder, doesn’t it - does listening to the terrible Fragma make you have brilliant taste in music?
Euro4Ever said on August 28, 2004 01:21:
Depending on what forum this is in, Roxette might make some of the lists as well. Some might feel guilty of taking the “Joyride” ;)

Artist: Kylie Minogue
Album: Kylie Minogue
Year: 1994
Copies Sold Worldwide: 800,000
UK Certification: Gold
Rating: 3/10
Tracklisting:
1. Confide In Me
2. Surrender
3. If I Was Your Lover
4. Where Is The Feeling
5. Put Yourself In My Place
6. Dangerous Game
7 Automatic Love
8. Where Has The Love Gone?
9. Falling
10. Time Will Pass You By
Not to be confused with her extremely experimental album of 1998, “Impossible Princess” (that title was confusingly replaced with “Kylie Minogue”, out of respect for the death of Princess Diana), this is a far more light-hearted affair. It’s more or less like an instrument-based version of Madonna’s “Erotica”. Whereas “Erotica” was filled with cold, unnatural songs, “Kylie Minogue” consists of warm dance/pop songs with a slight jazz-influence. Although this concept may sound slightly interesting, it’s hard to take this album seriously as an entity of it’s own without mentioning “Erotica” somewhere along the line. You find yourself struggeling to hold back the laughter when you hear “if i was your lover/I’d hold you in my arms from dusk to dawn” spoken in the exact same phrasing as Madonna did in her Erotica song. Ironically, the only thing that really seperates the two albums is the continuing sound of Stock, Aikan & Waterman, a group of super-producers whose over-protective producing habits were the basis for Kylie leaving her old record label PWL.
Suffice to say, it’s obvious that Ms Minogue’s voice has undergone some serious changes in her 2 year absence. Gone is the kitten-like purr of previous albums; welcomed is a sensual, soulful prowl - ripe with cosmopolitan snarl.
But she rarely gets a chance to show it off on this overly-long album. It has a mere 10 songs, but has a running time of 57:11. Which means the average running time of a song would be 6:11. And taking into account the sparce-ness of the lyrics, this means your regularly stuck with 3 minutes of absolute nothing (simple beats, virtually no melody). For example, Falling (track 9) takes 1:58 to get to the first verse, the 117 seconds it takes to get to that verse are filled with nothing but a dated early-90’s dance beat with some cheesy gospel backing vocals. The songs just seem to swoosh past - one after another, with you barely noticing.
The production itself is majorly dated by now. Unlike it’s predecessor, “Let’s Get To It”, which was hailed at the time as a ’progressive’, this album stuck firmly to the overall sound of the cheesy 90’s dance craze. As a result, the whole album (except for it’s notible singles) has dated terribly. But that’s not to say that some of these songs would be considered good when the album was originally released. M-People are responsible for some 90’s classics, but even their “Time Will Pass You By” sounds like it was dragged through a jazz club by it’s rear-end, before being dumped firmly in a techno rave. The lack of distinction between many songs means you’ll often be left frustrated with just how little variety is actually available on this album.
Occasionally, the dominating mess subsides to allow some distinction to take hold. “Dangerous Game” is the only album track with any resonance. A moving orchestral/jazz-ballad is just what’s needed to break the mood. However, at 5:30, the song is at least 2 minutes too long.
The album cover may appear to suggest that this is inviting and friendly, but underneath lies a bland mess of severely under-motivated people just waiting to get their paychecks. You best save yours.
purplemedusa said on August 28, 2004 07:36:

Regarding nirvana, they were just a good band, no more to say
we should swap albums each others..
hey roxhard, the one album that I got from Kylie is the one you mentioned. My favorite is Automatic Love, it was written by Rapino brothers.
(The ones that remixed The Look 95).

Rapino Brothers Suck, sorry but they do.
Haddaway “What is Love” (Rapino brothers Mix) This remix Sucked Big time. They managed to ruin a Great dance song.
I never heard their remix of the Look, but I bet that sucked too.

no need to be embarassed about kylie...she is great.
i own all her albums and am still a fan...automatic love is a good song, but u should try and download the acoustic version, its even better.
in fact, i have a lot of the “embarrassing” albums people have mentioned, and i am not ashamed to have them. Geri Halliwell, Steps, Take That, Gary Barlow. I have a wide range in taste, and sometimes i just want to listen to some cheesy pop music....i also like rock, indie and “trendy” bands too, but it depends on my mood.
mmmm, coming to think of it, there is only one album i am embarrassed to own, and i hide my head in shame after i tell u this....i own a westlife album. yes a few years ago, they had “My love” at no one in the UK charts and for some reason i liked it(i’m a sucker for soppy ballads), so i bought the album....big mistake, though thats what i tend to do often, like one song and then buy an album, sometimes not a very wise move.

coyboy, why should anyone be embarrassed about kylie? Shes had an amazing 18 year pop career, and is currently on a massive world tour. She is really respected in the music industry these days. Believe it or not, its more embarrassing to admit youre a roxette fan nowadays in the UK

ncurran u make a great point the recording industry ” these days” which is nothing more than a business that cares nothing about descent slef made artists and not peopel who are puppets of lables prodoucers and songwriters, she’s always been a madonna knockoff, plain and simple. and honestly even though i’m thin myself i don’t see her image appeal at all she makes me look fat:)

Olivia Newton John: the rumour... (not a good album for this wonderfull artist.. although it is produced by Elton John )
The Corrs : Borrowed Heaven (What a crap!.. I was disapointed I must say... their previous albums were really good)
Frida: something’s going on ( what can I say.. I bought Agnetha’s greatest hits and it was nice....but not this one from her ex-partner)

Chris Rea - Auberge.
Maybe not really embarrassing, but definitely the most disappointing album.
I bought it because i liked the song Auberge (which is indeed a nice song), but I didn’t bother to listen to the album before I bought it.
Auberge is the only song that is worth listening to it, the rest of the album is crap.
