When a demo is better than the final version
Permaniac said on August 13, 2004 12:01:
Hi all!!
Which demos you prefer over the final one released?
In my case : What she like? , simply precious
AURYTE said on August 13, 2004 13:49:
All final versions are better than demos. But I have to admit that I’ve heard quite few demos. If demo to ALMOST UNREAL is where PER is on lead vocals than I prefer this version to original one.

i wouldn´t say that demos are better than final versions. sometimes it´s two different things. for instance i love “the rain” sung by both per and marie, because they appear to be two different songs. “i was so lucky” is a case in point too.
however, this is the best demo i´ve heard, it doesn´t seem to be a demo but an original version.
girl7twenty7 said on August 13, 2004 14:56:
7twenty7-demo is better without a doubt.
I think original and of What’s She Like are almost different songs, the same for ex with Run To You, and I don’t know which version to prefer. I like very much Breethe and esp MATAH demos, they are so sweet.
BTW a lot of demos aren’t worse than final versions and all of them are worth listening, among them you can find many at least interesting ones.

In some way i find the 7 twenty 7 demo better than the original one, probably the great guitars!!!
I also like some other ones, “CBB”, “Almost Unreal”, “Looking For Jane”, “Breathe”, “I Was So Lucky”, “The Rain”, maby there are still some others.
There are also a lot of demos I don’t like at all: “The Look”, “Dangerous”, “Come Back”, ...
Roxlander said on August 13, 2004 19:58:
I don’t think they’re better than the original ones, but my favourites are
1. What’s she like
2. The rain
3. Run to you
4. Almost unreal
5. Breathe

I trend to like more the demo versions than the final versions all the time... anyway, my fave ones are “What´s She Like ?”, “7Twenty7”, “Run To You” and “Breathe”.
All the best

“Looking For Jane” makes more sense with Per singin it than with Marie.
eduard33 said on August 13, 2004 22:28:
Per’s demos is the main reason why I love his work so much. I love them all much more than the original ones. Each demo sounds so simply and melodically and completely different than final version. I think Run To You is the best example when a demo is much-much better than original one.
My demo chart:
1. I was so lucky, Listen to your heart, Crash!Boom!Bang!, What’s she like?, Wish I could fly, Spending my time, Almost unreal, I wanna be with you, Fading like a flower, Run To You.
2. I Do Believe, Always breaking my heart, 7twenty7, Milk&Toast&Honey, I’m sorry, Love doesn’t live here
3. One is such a lonely number, Breathe, June Afternoon, The rain
Yeaaahh I forgot Secrets That She Keeps! Number ONE! No doubt.
RoxHard said on August 14, 2004 01:58:
Is it just me who doesn’t like the demo version of 7twenty7? I love the loud metal-ness of the album version!
Zargo said on August 14, 2004 02:18:
@RoxHard - Yes you are.
But I still appreciate the album version, in it’s funkiness... It would be great to have a definative version, which takes the best from both :)
I prefer the demo of ’Never is a Long Time.’
I think it was a strange idea for them to swap it around to a ballad, and do the opposite to Come Back (before you leave), as they’re better suited to their original tempos, in my opinion.
marksufc said on August 14, 2004 02:28:
my faves are
1, vulnerable
2, the rain
3,almost unreal
4, sleeping in my car
5, run to you

i WAS SO LUCKY-RUN TO YOU-THE RAIN-BREATHE-CRASH!B!B!
...not better than the final tracks, but very good demos.-.-.-.-btw I like more 7/27 HAND version
girl7twenty7 said on August 14, 2004 11:22:
One more time oops! Secrets That She Keeps - simple but great demo and I’d prefer it to the original too.
@eduard33 I agree with one of the reasons of loving Per’s work and thoughts about demos :)

There’s some demos I’ve heard, but never heard the final mix of it (e.g. Seduce Me, or Don’t Believe in Accidents). Does anybody know if there are final mixes of these demos?
agnethamaria said on August 16, 2004 10:22:
Where can I find the demos of Roxette that so many people have heard? So curious now...
arnie said on August 17, 2004 02:38:
The only demo that I do believe is better than the final version is 727. The rest of the demos are great, but let’s be honest... do you think that the poor production in the AU demo is better than the well done production in the final version?
MiracleMan said on August 17, 2004 03:46:
I rather like You Don’t Understand Me in demo version better than the final product. Simpler and more direct when it’s pared down.
per_mson said on August 17, 2004 07:43:
“I was so lucky” - in my opinion as good as the real release! Why, why, why did they delete that lovely guitar solo in the final release?!?! WHY???? ;-)) It’s THE thing in that song, hihi!
AURYTE said on August 17, 2004 08:06:
My vote goes to SECRETS THAT SHE KEEPS. (How could I forget it???)
RobS said on August 19, 2004 10:32:
I find that the music in some of then demo’s are nicer than the final versions. My top picks would have to be 7twenty7, Almost Unreal and Run To You.

I think all final versions are better than the demos- but there are two demos that I like almost as much as the album versions- The Rain & Wish I Could Fly.
Grasi said on August 21, 2004 20:03:
IMO, only “Beautiful things” sound better on its demo version than the original. I also love the “Run to you” demo (but it isn´t better than the album version).
bandquitter said on August 24, 2004 13:42:
“Here it comes the weekend” has a PERfect demo and a pale final “Tourism” version.
Faezdel said on September 12, 2004 04:08:
Hello:
I love the sweet and tender demo of “Milk and Toast and Honey”.
Where can I find the demos of “What’s she like”, “Beautiful things”, “Looking for Jane”, “The look”, “Fading like a flower”, “Listen to your heart” and more... They didn’t be released in the official maxi-singles...
Thank you!
Fabio.-

I listened to demo of I WAS SO LUCKY (thanks Sandra once again), and I prefer original version with saxophone.
Roxeanne said on September 12, 2004 11:44:
Beautiful things is my favourite demo!
It’s perfect and I always turn it loud and sing along to the top of my lungs.
But the final version is just as awsome!!!
girl7twenty7 said on September 14, 2004 06:54:
@ Faezdel Try roxbytes.com - some demos you can find there.
It’s pity that roxservice is gone... :(

Hi!
I haven’t heard very much Roxette’s demos but when I heard almost unreal... uff, it’s marvellous!!
