How many fans does ur football team have?

45 replies

If you know how many fans ur football team has plz lay it down!!

My team Wolverhampton Wanderers have over 25,000 at home games. Not bad for a team not even playing in the top division in it’s country.

Does anyone konw VfB Stuttgart? Probably nobody outside Germany :-( Well, at least “we” won against Manu during the last Champions League :0)
According to a fifa homepage it has approximately 18000 members. But I don’t know how many fans there are. About 500000 people fit into their stadium and if it is sold out maybe 450000 support them and not the other team but i’m just guessing.
Why do you want to know?

Boca jrs. is one of the most popular teams in the world.

The estimates are around 10,000,000 people But our stadium is for around 60,000

oshtay: in less than 12 months they will once again be in Premier League :)

Flamengo is my team from Brazil and we are the team in Brazil with the most fans! Flamengo has 40 million fans only within the borders of Brazil! Maracana is our home and 100 thousand people fit in it!

@Roxfever I’m just curious to know... :)

Almost everyone in Gipuzkoa (that likes football) likes and supports Real Sociedad... (I think Gipuzkoa’s population is 600,000, so I’m almost sure 400,000 people support them! :D)

@Roxfever... I do know Stuttgart, I had a videogame where they were so difficult to beat :D:D

And do you count well? 500,000 people in a stadium sounds like too many! I mean... Maracana in the biggest event they ever had (World Cup Final 1950) didn’t reach 200,000 people! And the game was won by Uruguay... hehe :P

Uuh, HJK is the biggest team in Finland. Usually it has about 3000-3500 people on Stadium. Population in Helsinki is 500, 000. Yep, only 3500 and it’s the most popular team in Finland! Football has most sportsmen here, but ice-hockey has most of spectator and fans. I think Finland is the only country in Europe where football is not the biggest sport.

@Santi LOL yea unfortunatly Uruguai won that World Cup back in 1950 but hey what have they won since then right? ;) And i agree with you, how can a stadium hold 500,000 people? Thats impossible lol!!

Oooops :0) sorry! lol, of course I meant 50000 and 45000. I must have been a bit too enthusiastic ;-)

@Roxfever lol Wouldn’t it be good to have a stadium filled up with 500,000 people? ;) lol

Flamengo propably has one of the biggest fan bases of the World along with Corinthinans from Brazil.

Does any one know others with such a huge fan base ?

Take care!
Carlos E., New York.

I think the biggest club (even if I hate it) is Real Madrid, much bigger than any Brazilian team.
I mean, in Europe nearly no one gives damn for any Brazilian team, but this stupid Real Madrid has fans in every country of the world!
Also Manchester United, Milan AC, Juventus, FC Barcelona and Bayern München are in the biggest list, in my opinion.

@Santi In Brazil people dont and will never give a damn either on European Football!! Real Madrid, Juventus, Milan.... bla bla bla... they will never be what any Brazilian team is! And they will never play the football we play!! The only difference is that European teams have more money. Show me numbers here... How many fans does each of the clubs u mentioned have!!?? Flamengo is the biggest and the most know team in Brazil, we have 40 million fans only in Brazil, and who knows how many more throughout the world!! Show me numbers ;)

Real Madrid is bigger than any brazilian team?? Are u sure about that? I can guarantee u that the only biggest thing they have is their Bank Account, nothing else.

you have a national league in Brazil?

@StillFar Of course we do!! what did u think?

Most of fans has Manchester United. This is not my opinion, is a fact. United has lots of fans around the world, especially lot in Asia. Also Real Madid has lots of fans around the world, but not that much as United. There was a survey couple of years ago, whic is the most famous team in the wolrd. Of course, United. Brazilian teams doesen’t has fans around the world. How could the have? Premier league is showing tv all around, not brazilian league.
Btw, I’m really happy Europeans doesen’t play like south americans...
And just to let you know, I’m not fan of United, and I’m not from England.

@PureBrazilianRJ: I assumed with all those brazilian players playing in Europe there aren’t enough left to build a league...;)

@Mari

I too know that Man United and Real Madrid have fans around the world, i never said otherwise. Now here is where u’re wrong, I’m a Flamengo fan in New York City and just to let u know, we could get Man United home stadium filled with just us from New York. You say that Brazilian teams doesnt have fans around the world, how come we are so many in NY? Did you also know that Flamengo is so big that we have Flamengo Associations around the USA? Lets keep going :), go to Japan and ask or wear a Flamengo jersey and u’ll see what they have to say! Guess you didnt know that right ;)? Premier League is shown all over? All over where? You mean all over Europe right? Cause i can guarantee you that its not show in South America or North America unless you order it! I’m also very glad that Europeans doesnt play like South Americans, that way the titles will be always coming to us! Mostly to Brazil but i’ll give the others a chance too!!
Hope u learned something new today :).. Take care now!

@StillFar ;) you dont have to worry about that, we are a football player industry remember? You see how it is, we have to lend u our players so that Europe can have a World Class league!! What would Europe football be without Brazil??? Its said only to imagine....

someone’s passionate about something...I like that!

btw...why do you think Flamengo has so many fans in the states. Basing my judgement just on you and roxrider, I’d say because there are a lot of people with latin-american roots in the states...

I couldn’t tell you a thing about Flamengo, but could tell you a couple of things about Madrid / Manchester / Munich / Milano and yes, it’s on tv every saturday, here in Montreal (North America).

And I have to agree, european soccer wouldn’t be the same without the brazilian players!

@Stillfar: Every single year European clubs buy brazilian players.

Only last year, European clubs bought between 50 to 70 top players in Brazil.

The brazilian government had to pass a law this year to stop such outflux of brazilian players to Europe.

Carlos E., New York.

@StillFar

You should at least be able to say something about Flamengo. Never heard of Zico, Junior? All from Flamengo, and who are they? Only two of the best players Brazil has ever had!! U could do some research u know ;)

well that’s exactly the point, I don’t have to do research about the other teams...it’s basic knowledge!

In the USA you can watch soccer from all over besides Africa and Asia.

I have watched European leagues, Argentinian, Brazilian, and even Bolivian but to do that you gotta have those 24 hour soccer or sports channel ’cause if you don’t, you won’t watch it.

Carlos E., New York.

btw 50 / 70 players...wow that’s a lot, didn’t think the number was that high!

@StillFar

Its never basic knowledge, how do u know all you know about Real Madrid, Juve, Milan, Man United?? Television, Internet, Radio etc... You arent born with what u know, u learn doing resarch which is the same as watching tv, listening to the radio, reading online....

If this outflux continues like it is, very soon every single 1st division european team will have a brazilian player.

Also, did you guys know the Brazil national team have to fight with european clubs so they let brazilian players play for their own antional team in friedly, World Cup qualifying and other tournaments? That’s really sad.

Carlos E., New York.

basic knowledge for me is when the information is there and there’s no escape from it. Everybody knows about Beckham and through him you learn something about the club or Christiano Ronaldo, etc...I mean, come on, they’re on every freaking magazine!

Of course Flamengo has fans in States. New York is in North Ameica, Flamengo is from South America. But as far Premier League is showing all over the world, and Brazilian league not, teams of Premier League is more popular. Of, course, how can you be fan if you don’t see games. And as I alreay told, it’s not my opinion, it’s a fact.

@roxrider: yeah I heard about the fights between clubs/players/national teams. It’s sad but as far as I know, it’s the same situation for european players (team/national team). I think since soccer is becoming more and more global they have to make a global schedule, which includes things like copa america, euro, WC, champions league...

It’s all about money (and don’t get me started on where that’s coming from)

@StillFar

How did u hear about Beckham? you werent born knowing that he existed..... Therefore its not basic knowledge!!

@Mari

You forgot to mention the fact that Flamengo is also in Asia and Europe!! Mostly in Asia! Real Madrid is not in Brazil, Man United is not in Brazil, Milan is not in Brazil.... so they are not all over the world!

let me re-phrase: it’s possible to live here without ever hearing the word flamengo (in connection with a soccer team), but not a week will pass by without seeing / hearing the word Beckham or Manchester United

btw, to answer your question the Montreal Impact team must have around 1000 fans...how sucky is that? Oh well, we’re good in other things (or not) ;)

@StillFar

I dont think we’re understanding each other...
1000 fans? lol that really sucks ;)

Boca Jr. VS. River Plate is the most popular “classic”(or “derby”) match of south america. It is even considered one of the “top sporting events” in the world

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/osm/story/0,6903,1182710,00.html

There are fans of Boca all around the world (and they’re not argentine immigrants), there´s even foreign football clubs honouring Boca’s name and colours around the world.... (example, Jersey Shore Boca from New Jersey. http://www.jerseyshoreboca.com/main.php?zone=history )

And generally if there’s a Maradona fan, there’s also a Boca jrs. fan.

And a nice fact to share here is the history of Boca’s colours.
There was discussion about what colours were going to be Boca’s, so the founders decided that the club was going to take the colours of the flag of the next ship that arrived at the port... that ship was a Swedish ship, that’s why Boca’s colours are the colours of Sweden :)

@PureBrazilianRJ, somehow I get the feeling that you want us to answer your questions the way you want to be answered.
“Start guessing now, who will win the World Cup 06?” –> Brazil right?
“Brazil vs Argentina.. Whos best in footbal/soccer?” –> You want us to say that Argentina sucks, don’t you?
“How many fans does ur football team have?” –> doesn’t matter how many because your team is the most popular team anyway.
Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s how I read you lines;-)

I support my local non league team who have an average gate of 300, i also support Liverpool who have an average attendance of over 40,000.

@Roxfever

You got me all wrong bro!! The point of these discussions are to get a sense of what people think about both Brazil and Argentina! Each and everyone of you out there have a similar or different opinion and thats exactly what i wanted to read about. And whats wrong with the question How many fans does ur football have? Did u get offended by it? I hope u didnt because its such a simple and innocent question! But dont worry next time i’ll let people know if the topic is rated R!! In that case u’ll know that the topic is not for you ;).

No, I didn’t get offended. It was just the impression I got after reading the 3 threads... don’t worry, i didn’t mean any harm:-)

It would be sad to be a fan some really big team who wins all the time. It just means you are gloryhunter.

@Mari

No lolz, it would be sad to be a fan of a big team and that they never won anything!! That would be sad!!! ;) Sport is about winning!!
