Roxette Critics again !! By jealous people??

The comments appear positive to me, but even if they didn’t then there’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It’s just one person’s particular view - no big deal.

It seems pritty positive to me; but “returned with their Stars EP” gets a frown!

well, the reviewer at least chose the best song he could have mentioned from HAND :o)

That quote is originally from www.allmusic.com. Steven Thomas Erlewine is your typical reviewer - brainless snob who will praise anything that is arty rubbish (he favours “serious” musicians who have important messages to impart in music that isn’t very musical) or fashionable with the right pretentious arses, whilst pouring scorn on anything popular, as if that is some sort of crime. Of course, he also sucks up to the most popular groups just to make it seem like he’s in touch (and it wouldn’t do to piss off too many fans). If the music happens to be something like Roxette (good, popular, but not as popular as Britney Spears), then he takes every opportunity to kick it.
Find and read more of his reviews - it becomes clear that a) he has no taste in music, b) doesn’t understand music, and c) doesn’t even bother listening to everything or getting details right. Sounds like the definition of a paid critic to me, so why do people bother with them?
His reviews on allmusic are a waste of time - unlike most of the others, his don’t really give you any idea of what the group sounds like - he much prefers to tell you how they are doing it all wrong.

Critics _AGAIN__?
I remember reading this around 2000 already...

Just another opinion. A little lack of information, but I don’t see something that negative.

It’s rather a backhanded compliment. On the one hand he says they create shamelessly catchy poppy ditties, but the songs stand up to repeated playing without getting tiresome. Sounds like if he has to listen to pop, then they’re the ones he’d listen to. Positive in a negive way. Hmmmmm.

i thought it was good. he was ignorant of Roxette - but, then again, so was I - at one time.

Talking about rox in a jealous way!
What´s the problem with this people???
It´s better you check this out at this website and give your opininion!
Here it is what is saying for some curious :
” It’s tempting to write Roxette off as nothing more than a shallow pop/rock band, but their shameless hooks are precisely what makes them so enjoyable.
Roxette has a knack for writing extremely catchy and simple hooks and melodies that are sweet but not saccharine; it’s radio-friendly pop, but the hooks don’t wear thin with repeated plays. The duo of guitarist Per Gessle and vocalist Marie Fredriksson released an album in 1986 that didn’t display much of their talents, but the infectious follow-up, 1988’s Look Sharp!, brought them to the top of the charts in America and England; 1991’s Joyride was almost equally successful. After a couple years off, Roxette returned with a new album, Crash! Boom! Bang!, in 1994; Baladas en Español followed in 1997, and two years later the duo returned with the EP Stars. In 2000, Roxette signed to Edel and released the greatest-hits collection Don’t Bore Us Get to the Chorus and began work on their next album. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide “
