According to Roxserive;

’Sweden Live’

Artists: Roxette.
Release-dates: 1989.
Links: Check details / Purchase records.

An exclusive recording of an in-door concert by Roxette at Himmelstalundshallen, Norrköping, Sweden on 16 December 1988 during the Look Sharp ’88! Swedish Tour. This - first ever, withdrawn - HomeVideo by Roxette features ten live performances and some exclusive backstage footage by ’Captain Blood Was My Father’. Available as NTSC-format HomeVideo (Japanese: TOVW-3031) and as NTSC-format LaserDisc (Japanese: TOLW-3031). Also available as VHS-format HomeVideo entitled ’Look Sharp! Live’ (SA: ELMV-1024) - with the same tracklist as ’Sweden Live’, but with the sleeve of the 1989 release ’Look Sharp! Live’. Both releases are very rare und collectable, even very hard to find at record fairs and auctions.

I was just watching Dance Away on the Sweden Live - The Look Sharp Tour, 1988 vids from roxbytes.

I love where Marie’s backstage warming up her voice doing some scales with Mia Lindgren - and she finishes with this cool SCREAM! I just thort it was so funny. The behind the scenes outtakes were very informative - i always wondered what went on back there.

Anyone been lucky enough to hang with them backstage etc while on tour?

I just love that scene!!! The whole scene, from it’s beginning. I like that all the band is standing in a circle, Marie rehearsing, well, it’s rather shouting than singing and everybody’s staring at her. And have you noticed that Pelle’s look like saying: what’s going on here, seems everybody’s out of their mind. LOL. Well, all the backstage scenes from that LS concert are great, but that one is the best!I and my rox friend Ineta are rewinding that scene 100 times in a row, when watching that concert video. It’s so damn funny:) Doesn’t it seem to you that Marie is acting in that moment because it looks she already knows she’s gonna scream. And I also love that scene where Marie makes that foxie eye look in front of the mirror.

OK... hold the bus!! what the hell is this video? I’ve never heard/seen anything like it...!?!

@ Purple.. you don’t have Looksharp live... ?

Try roxbytes... it was on there last time I looked... under

VIDEO
ROXETTE
FULL PERFORMANCES

i’ve got Looksharp Live on official video release ... mmm but don’t remember seeing any backstage footage! Are we talkin about the same thing here?

Just checked my video again - got the same line-up as stated on Roxbytes, but no behind the scenes footage... what the hell, have the South African fans been cheated again?! Aargh!!

And just to add to my misery - I’m not able to dwnld those files as they’re not in .zip format (still behind that darn firewall!!)

Can’t you shut down the firewall?

Not sure where to look... but think it’s on my service provider’s side...

The video itself is called “Roxette - Sweden Live!”, and only released in Japan and shown on TV in Sweden, kind of hard to find.

okay... well then, South Africa got the watered down version of it! It’s rather strange coz the box states that it’s the Borgholm concert but when watching it, it’s clearly not!

Aaaargh - now I’m really pissed off! I wanna see those backstage clips!!

@purple: “Sweden Live” is completely different from “Look Sharp! Live”... “Sweden Live” was filmed in... Norrkoping I think and all the songs on it are actually live, unlike “Look Sharp! Live” where all the songs with videos are shown as videos rather than as live performances. “Look Sharp! Live’ was released everywhere, but as Thomas said, “Sweden Live” was only available for sale in Japan... it even includes some “Pearls of Passion” tracks, like “Soul Deep” and “Neverending Love” plus some cool backstage stuff... very cool!

roxtexanet & thomas; yes I know the difference between Sweden Live & Look sharp live! i have never bothered, however, to get the Japanese version as I have Sweden Live! http://www.roxservice.com/html/dgraphy/rxh.htm comfirms the SA release of Sweden Live!

“Sweden Live!” was also shown on spanish TV some years ago (I was lucky enough to record it) :-)

In which song rehearsal Marie screams?:)

@purple: I had no idea that “Sweden Live” was commercially released outside of Japan... imagine that, released in South Africa but not Sweden!

Hmm, I can’t say this site verifies the release, because I CAN’T FIND IT!! :D Anyways, I knew it’s been released in S.A., but I thought no one had bought it back then... ;)
It is a very nice piece of film which way you see it. Too short is my only complaint - 10 songs. MOSTLY shot in Norrköping, but not completely.

Gosh you guys had me confused now... lol - so I had to check again! Firstly nowhere on both the cover & video does it say that the film is called Sweden Live! You can find a scan of the cover at http://www.geocities.com/gyllenetider_no7/vidcover.JPG
(it must be one of the worst cover with that added graphics!! eww!)

On the Certificate of Approval it states the title as “roxette look sharp” (not Look Sharp Live!). Between the intro & Dressed For sucess there’s a title saying ’Roxette Look Sharp - Swedish tour’. The track are the same as Sweden Live’s line-up - but no backstage footage. In the end the credits state that the event (s) was filmed at Norrkoping, Halmstad, Orebro & Lund.

Thomas... I was certainly not around when this was released, but knowing Cape Town’s music holes I got myself a copy - and I’m sure there’s still a couple floating around... it’s just a case of doing some searching.

So given this info I presume its the Sweden Live concert>>>

**edit: corrected those nasty spelling errors**

Yes I agree. They are basically the same. And to add to the facts: the version shown on Swedish TV has less b/w material inbetween the songs than the Japanese version.

PS: Check the tracklist on that GeoCities videocover... :)

Yeah... I know: I was very pissed off when I got the Video and found that “paint” & “silver blue” wasn’t included. I guess everything was done sloppy in the apartheid era!

It even states on the cover “filmed live at the dramatic castle ruin in Borgholm Sweden...”

I think Look Sharp Live and Sweden Live are different.
Look Sharp Live contains three live performance. Dance away, Cry & Paint. The rests nearly are MTVS.
Sweden Live are all live performances, beside some interesting scenes.

I like Sweden Live better, I like to see more Marie’s Live performance.

When I first saw Sweden Live, I feel its strange why there is Japanese language appearing blow in these period of scenes. I didn’t care where does it come. What did I care was that I didn’t catch anything they said on these backstage scenes, cuz I didn’t know Swedish and Japanese in that time. Now I just feel so happy, after learning Japanese for a long time, I can understand what did they say on the backstage scenes.

What the heck *are* they talking about? I’ve always wanted to know...

Actually nothing, they only blabber about truly boring stuff. Before LTYH one of the band members says “Which side [of the field] do we start on?”
