I Don't Think Roxette will be back in the UK.

Browsing around the old articles section, I found this. I think it explains why Roxette won’t be back in the UK.

” PER: “NOW WE JUST HOPE THAT FANS WILL REMEMBER US”

According to Aftonbladet, Roxette’s record deal for the USA is not signed yet, but it will be in the next few days. Per and Marie are very enthusiastic, even though Roxette hasn’t released an album in the States since 1994, mostly because of problems with EMI’s US branch.
Things started to get worse in 1991 when “grunge guru” Gary Gersh became EMI USA’s chief. “After that it was only grunge and Beastie Boys that mattered,” says Per in Expressen. “We did all that we could to have EMI USA not release our greatest hits compilation in 1995.”
Now a revised compilation will be released by small record label Edel America and Per is very optimistic. “The US market is very conservative. In England, it’s impossible to be an ’80s band and make a comeback. But if you’ve had hits in the US, you get respect,” he said. And hits Roxette has made: 13 out of 16 songs on their greatest hits compilation have been on the US chart.
“Now we just hope that the fans in the US still remember us,” says Per in Aftonbladet.
According to Expressen, a new Roxette album will be released internationally in March 2001. “

“In England, it’s impossible to be an 80’s band and make a comeback”. I wonder if we should tell him that Duran Duran are making a comeback?

“13 out of 16 songs on their greatest hits compilation have been on the US chart.” That’s news to me!

Not top spots but sure on the charts!

Church of your heart only made no. 34 or 32 as I remember.

CBB was only bubbling under - it is Billboard Hot 100 - therefore it did not really chart.

roxette were in the Guardian today..page 23 of G2 - feature on why the columnist loves Roxette - it was cool!

*goes out to look for a copy of the Guardian*

Yeah, friend told me about that.

It’s online too.

YAY! LOL someone in the UK media loves them!! ;-)
Put this in your diaries its a bloody miracle even if it is just 3 small colums ;)

I only went out to pose in the car ;)

lol!

And who wrote that should be even more proud.. she made TDR!!

Ellie Levenson, she probably stood on me to get a plectrum! ;) ah no....mine was a Joyride one LOL

i don´t think that roxette will be back anywhere. i´m sorry if it sounds too pessimist of mine, but i´m tired of waiting. the same happened when HAND was to be realeased. however, that album came out, although it took five years. then we had room service... anyway,i really hope a new album will be released.

... nothing special about that column.

And, even though I doubt Roxette will ever show their faces in the UK/Ireland again, I’d still buy all their records.

And I’m so glad I could say the same as that Guardian columnist did - the Roxette concert in Dublin’s RDS! The 9th of November 1994! I still remember them playing Fading Like A Flower like it was yesterday!

i hate the guardian as a paper, besides the article didnt explain why she loved roxette. Anyways, it was a surprise. And I think ths is the end for roxette. they are welcome to prove me wrong though. oam
