Per's Costumes and Image
on_a_mission said on May 3, 2004 16:12:
Does this warrant a thread in itself? Well, I’ve started.
It defies belief, in my opinion, that it can take a man around 43 years to get a decent haircut and learn how to dress himself (ie the RS period). Despite being really cute, he has had some of THEEEE worst hairdo’s and costumes ever?
What the hell was the motivation behind the joyride image? Discuss.

Are you out of your mind? Roxette’s image is a big part of why I liked them in the Joyride days. I always thought(and still do think) That Per’s image then looked very cool on him. Can you imagine how stupid Per would have looked with a brush cut on that slightly-chubby head of his? Per looked like a Rocker - you gotta love that wild hair, and those pointy steel-toed leather boots. I miss Per and his Jet Black 80’s hair-do.

Well, I for one was very chocked the first time I saw Per in a magazine (dunno which now) with that blond, straight, kind of long hair he had in the CBB-days. I thought he looked ridicuilous. But, then I got used to that, and then offcourse, he cuts it of in 1995 or if it was early 1996. I didn’t like that either first times I saw it. I just said “hey, it’s a good thing hair grows out again.” Then I wanted it to be that long as he had it in the CBB-days.
Now, when the RS hairdo came, I thought, again, that it was to short. Luckily for me, he seems to agree and has in fact let it get 1 or 2 cm longer. And now I’m satisfied with his hairdo, even if I still think that the hair he had back in 1995-97 was the best, next after that black wild thing he had in the Joyride days.
Per is a person that changes his hair quite often, and has done so since he was 15 or something, if I understood things right. So, we can all have our fave eras of hairdo’s, but I personally don’t think he would fit in that black hairdo now. It would just look stupid with all those wrinkles he’s been struggling with for the last couple of years. *smile*

I don’t know..I think Per is a great guy and so on but his hairdos, costumes and stuff are not very hot for me.
I mean Steffan Ofwerman and Anders Herrlin from Joyride era were sexy guys!!!
I do love Anders’ moves and Steffan with the sax during Sleeping single was awesome!!!

GT ’81 image: nice
PG solo image: quite weak
LS image: great!
Joyride image: AWFUL!! Stupid Gessle with dragons on his shirt!!!
CBB image: much, much better
TWAG: incredible good
HAND: worse again
RS: better
Mazarin: BEST.
Anyway, I think his main problem over the years wasn’t the clothes he had, but his weight... It seemed like he carried the weight of the world on his butt and legs and belly and neck and face. And perhaps that was his main image problem...This is why I found him look a little bit ridiculous with his too dark hair during the Joyride days...His face didn’t fit with the “rocker” image...way to fat for a rocker!!
But now is a lot better. He also changed his clothes maybe because he can “afford”them, now having a great body (I hope I can say that without being ridiculous myself..hehehe)
OK. His hair now: I think he must quit using too many colours...He needs a decent colour and - if possible - quite similar with the natural one...(I suppose his hair is grey right now, but he won’t show it for nothing in the world. Too bad, I would like to see the natural Per)...Anyway, I think he’s at his best now and he looked strange and phoney and like a puppet during the Joyride promotion and Tour. Of course the girls liked Anders and Clerence and Pelle more than Per, because you couldn’t really see nothing sexy in Per’s image from those days. Just a strange man, with - sort of - feminine moves and silly (and yet great) smile that kept on moving up and down around Marie, following her with his eyes all over the stage (yes, when I was a teenager I thought Per looked like a doggy running in circles around a great lady like Marie was!) Now I don’t think that, of course. Anyway, I do believe that Per should have done more for improving his masculine presence. I don’t mean tight t-shirts and muscles - he’s not made for that, of course - but, you know...(girls know this kind of stuff and my wife too...)...showing a little bit of who really is...Look at TWAG image - really masculine and quite powerful. His Roxette image was weak I suppose, couldn’t counterballance marie’s tumultous presence...
Mazarin is more him. And I do believe he looks incredible good now, much better than his wife and, yes, much better than Marie, and yes, way much better than M.P. and Clerence and other guys having his age. I think he’s charming and he probably can flirt with young women and getting immediatly a good feedback - I was joking, of course, he doens’t really need anyone except his wife...But I’ve just tried to underline the idea that he’s a competitive man right now...and he’d still be, even without putting so much colours in his hair and too much eyeliner...I’d say he can stay on the market (on every market!) at least 10 years from now on...With some good advice from his stylists of course...

Hm, I guess I found Per quite attractive in the early 90 when I fell for him ;-) but I like his looks today much better than everything he tried... ;-D He really looks great now (JMHO) and I don’t want him to change anything
And about Mats: we saw him last year mowing his lawn and doing some gardening work... I like him on the early GT-pix but now - he’s just old...

No! Per’s trouser collection, other than his cool mazarin jeans are Uuuuuuuuhgleee! Much as his image kinda worked (in a tasteless way) there was no, repeat no excuse for the mass majority of his trousers. The prosecution rests.

when it comes to talk about black clothes, he’s a teacher. I like his taste...and the same for suits, too.

LS: great!
CBB: great!
Before or after those era’s I didn’t like his style, but I don’t think it’s that important.

I kinda like Per’s image from C&B&B period. That was an ordinary, normal guy look but very fitting. He looked very cool on Room Service Tour too, but I have to say I don’t like his black finger-nails from POP/Ballad Hits promo shoots.
From the time perspective I think he looked funny in Joyride days, but it was more funny-cool that funny-silly, if you know what i mean...
My girlfiriend says he’s a very handome guy...
But one thing…Per is a master as far as choosing the coolest shoes on this planet. He’s a giant! I mean look at his shoes. Always tip-top!

I´ll confess I already got used to his shirts nowadays...
Well in the past it was much worse, huh? So that means an improvement, haha...
And I *really* , *REALLY* hated the black nail thing...that´s too gay for me,haha
NinaP said on July 24, 2004 16:24:
The joyride era was definately the worst....
I quite like his solo image from 83 /84. :)

“that´s too gay for me”... now what’s that s’posed to mean?
NinaP said on July 25, 2004 01:36:
I knew someone´d say that,haha ;P
I´m not homophobic , LOL... just thought it looked gay as I´ve seen many gay men having their nails
painted black...but that was just a joke... ;P

Isn’t painted black nails more of a goth thing?
Anyway, just in case you missed this pic, (it was in another thread) heres the link:
