And I’ll tell you why:
She may have a “great” voice (ehem...), but she reminds me all the time of the slogan of Pirelli (the tyre company), at least in Spanish: “La potencia sin control no sirve de nada”/”Power without control is useless”.
Why is this? Because she hasn’t learnt the very basics of music. Silences are as important as sounds in music! Any music teacher will tell you, and any serious musician. But when she should shut up she goes on and on with this very annoying moaning all the time. Listening to a song of hers is like a long “via crucis”, a slow turning in pain for your ears, simply because it’s “the girl’s song” and she won’t let you a moment of letup.
That is why she’s annoying, let apart what she may say when it’s not something a professional poet has written for her to scream...

I liked her earlier albums, in spite of her 3 octave voice range....I found that interesting.
Now her albums are just frivolous and boring. what’s with all these cutey-pie names for albums anyway? an artist is sposed to be mature with time, not go backwards.

I hate her ( her voice rings in my head like hell) , i think her head is far to far up her own arse. dont know how she works lol.

@ santi: that’s sooo right!!!
@ tevensso: hihi, just what I think...
That’s what I just posted in another topic:
her “I’m-so-beautiful-and-sooooo-in-love-with-myself”-appearing all the time is just disgusting.
she may have a very good voice, but not the best in the world in my opinion... and I don’t like what she does with that voice at all... her songs are unintresting to me and rather of the kind that drives me mad if I’m forced to listen to them.
Hate singers who wanna show which tones the are able to sing by doing excessive coloraturas and to howl like a sad dog...
no, I would not care if she would stop “singing”... rather become happy...

To me, it seems like she has no imagination whatsoever. She records two types of songs: sappy, drippy, interchangeable ballads and “hip hop-influenced” R & B tracks that rip off some bass-line from the seventies or ’80s with her panting and screaming over it (“Fantasy,” “Heartbreaker” - which are based on the same song! - “Honey,” and the truly awful “Loverboy”). I think she figured out that she’ll sell records no matter what as long as she strips in her videos, but when that ticket ran out (“Glitter”), she went back to her “pure and chaste” image from the early ’90s and recorded a song that could have been on her debut (“Through the Rain”)... sorry honey, we haven’t forgotten about the last eight years of horrible music and you’re stuck with those implants, so forget about purity and chastity!
Plus everything Santi said. (-:

Funny that this popped out in here now...
I was, in fact, listening to her CD’s today. AND I am quite fond of her stuff!
Loverboy IS good!! But at the moment my absolute favourites are “Can’t take that away”, “Anytime I need a friend” & “The roof”. :) Funnky!

Personally I think she did better without all that rapping stuff which is cool sometimes but too much is too much.... she didn’t come out as an R&B artist but now she is... I’ve nothing against Rap but I prefer the classic ballads....

Who cares about people not liking mariah carey. i don’t know how some of you people could judge her and not even know her. that’s what i believe. it’s not fair to judge people without knowing who they really are. tabloids make people seem that they are something that they are not.

Personally I can’t say I have a preference.. she ain’t that bad... although can’t say I have heard any of her recent stuff...

I don’t like her either. I had one of her CDs, don’t aks me why! I don’t remember what it was called... Hero was on it. One day I stepped on it accidentally so that it was broken but can’t remember regretting it ever ;-) I think I haven’t heard anything from her again but I don’t miss her. Her songs simply get on my nerves but what I “hate” most about her is the movements she makes with her hands when she is singing! I can’t watch this! It drives me crazy. What is she doing with them? Does she want a cloth and clean my windows? I don’t know. But all I know is that watching her singing makes me aggressive and that it is better for me and the people around me not to watch this woman singing!!

What I really hate is her voice, it just gets on my nerves, it really does. I just can’t stand any song by her, just *THINKING* of it makes me go “iiiiiiihhhhh!!” if you know what I mean.
I cannot say if I like *her* or not as I don’t know her, i don’t even know much about her private life.. simply I don’t read stuff about her - not interested. If I ever knew something bout her life is because I happened to be listening to radio / watching tv when they said sth about her.. but i guess I forgot cuz i can’t remember :P
Looking at the list of artists I like, I could say I prefer more “human” voices (and deep if possible). Not for singing higher you are better. I think Marie has one of the best voices (to my ears) ever, I just can’t get enough, and she can’t sing that high anyway, ah yeah, it is the feelings too, human also as in feelings.. and Marie can’t do it better :)
Moving on, I don’t think Eva has an “excellent” (guess it depends on what one understands for excellent.. let’s say reaching high tunes and all that) voice but her deep soft warm full-of-feelings voice just reaches me SO much inside.
And then let’s move to Melissa.. this powerful sexy hot deep waaaah voice...
so these are my 3 ladies :D

LOL! You’re joking right? Did anyone EVER like the highpitch noises she made? Oh yea, I forgot, my dog did. He was the only one that could hear her.
Cheers

@ stunt101sista: I don’t think anyone here tries to judge her as a person. we don’t know her and nobody siad she was a bad human being.
I for exemple only expressed MY opinion about her songs and singing-style. And about her appearing in public. that’s what I know about her and that’s what I’m talking about. would never judge her as a private person...

Denstandigaresan why do u care why people are in here? People like Roxette or not. My dad used to listen to them so I decided to post here but really who cares? I don’t like Roxette. Bu this is an off topic forum where like it says u can talk about ur world, ur love, ur life, about ANYTHING.
Forgive me if I’m being defensive but what u said about US people QUOTE>>Or an influx of lost/bored US fans that come across this site and post random threads.
Denstandigaresan said on April 22, 2004 19:53:
Yeah... Free speech... so i’m not allowed that either?
Ah, had enough anyways.
stunt101sista said on April 22, 2004 20:22:
Denstandigaresan did I say u weren’t allowed to speak ur mind? NO!
stunt101sista said on April 22, 2004 20:56:
Yea really. I mean I’m only 18 and more mature than some of u 30-50 yr olds. *lol*
Jud (moderator) said on April 22, 2004 21:24:
yes indeed your replies show this maturity 100%
counting 10..9...8....
stunt101sista said on April 22, 2004 23:29:
Ok this is what I hate about forums. Are you joking or being smart-mouthed? Surely u know that by a couple of statements you don’t know who I am or what I’m about or how mature I am.
Small-talker said on May 4, 2004 12:54:
I’d like her, but she seems so stuck-up and arrogant. She takes the **** out of every other artist who has a big voice (Christina; Jessica...). Is it a total shock for her to hear that someone else has a good voice - or can she just not handle the competition anymore?

@stunt101sista/citygirl:
What irritates me most about your posts is that you’re not a Roxette fan. Sure, this is the Off-Topic forum, but it’s the Off-Topic forum for *Roxette fans*. You’re like a person who shows up in a nudist colony clothed from head to toe, wearing a parka and Sorel boots– you’re way out of your element here. There are a lot of other forums out there better suited for you.
