Feelings on recreational drugs?

Hi guys. How do you feel about taking recreational drugs? As in smoking a joint, popping ecstacy, taking acid, eating mushrooms & shnarfing some coke?
Do you take any of these? If so which and when? Have you ever tried any of these or others?

Those aren’t the only consequences of drugs. What about health, and what about the suffering they cause to people who love us. And how some person in drugs’ health affect us all? Well, we pay taxes and other things to keep public health, and those in drugs one day are gonna need attention, with our money and just because they wanted fun or they thought it was their life.
I don’t care if they’re recreational or whatever else, drugs and me.... NO THANKS!

Well, I admit I sometimes smoke pot when I go dancing. I think is has become something common like drinking beer; everybody does it around me. So it’s not big deal. We’re just a bunch of guys and girls having fun.
BUT... I have never gone any further. One thing is to smoke a joint once in a while and another thing is to experiment with hard drugs like cocaine, LSD, etc. The idea of beint addicted to those chemicals just freaks me out. Plus it’s really hard to quit.
I think that as long as you don’t hurt yourself and you are concious of what you’re doing, it’s ok. “Do what you want but harm no one”.

For other people, I see them every day on the bus. They’re strung out, barely aware of where they are. They can’t hold a job, they live on the streets, smell bad, are VERY, VERY skinny because the money that can be used for food is used for drugs. So, Markuz, your theory is blown out of the water, because it DOES harm someone: Themselves. People forget that. Drugs, recreational or other wise destroy families and lives. I’m not here to rain on anyone’s parade and tell them that they can’t do them.
My “drug” of choice is caffiene. There is harm in that, yes. Stunted growth and a few other things. That, and have you ever tried to quit caffiene cold turkey? Migraines from hell, at least for me.
That’s just my opinion.

several of my friends smoke pot occaisionally if we are out or at a party or whatever, but I fortunately have never, and I hope not to. I don’t mind them doing it, as long as they don’t pressure me into trying. Luckily they don’t, and respect me for not wanting to. When ever they do do it, they are with a large group of others who will help them out if anything goes wrong, and actually listen if you tell them they’ve had enough. They don’t do it to the extent of getting completely stoned outta their skulls, maybe just to relax a bit.
I don’t see a problem with this, as I can’t see anyone getting hurt. I will get angry if they offer it to someone else, or smoke it in front of kids, but so far it’s been ok.

I myself have no problem with some recreational drugs. That would be Pot & E. I myself smoke a joint with friends once in a while or pop a pill when the party’s good. I won’t go near addictive or hallucinogenic drugs like coke, acid/lsd, mushrooms or the hardcore ones like Heroin and Kat.
@Zain: your friends need people to tell them when they’ve had enough? Jeez, I’ve smoked a lot of weed before, but i’ve never had an incident where I had to be told to stop. Pot doesnt work like that. Mix it with alcohol and you’re well on your way to the loo though. Or have a lot all at once and here comes mr GreenFever. Apart from that there’s nothing to worry about. I dunno how you guys smoke it, but it’s normally a quick joint for us and thats it. Maybe one later when everyone’s coming down, etc. The key: have it in small “doses”. Tell your friends that, then they wont need chaperones everytime they smoke it up.
@Judith: I totally respect that you don’t like drugs, etc. But let’s face it: it’s out there and some of us are taking it. Might it just be smoking pot or popping a pill once in a while. And I do believe that everyone should smoke a joint or popping E at least once in their lives. How can you talk about it if you don’t know what it’s all about. Your friends who became addicted after just talking about it obviously got introduced to it in the wrong way and didnt know what they were doing. I have friends who loves a line of coke, and it grates me cos I know its addictive. But that doesn’t make me hate drugs either. There are no safer drugs, just less addictive ones. And no, Im not promoting it either, Im just saying that some people are quite judgemental eventhough they dont know what they’re talking about. I myself am when it comes down to that list of no-go drugs I mentioned.
I’m not saying that pot and E is better - not in any way - ive seen what harm it can cause, and it’s not a pretty sight. What I want to say is: if you want to do it, do it safe and EDUCATE yourself about them.

I HAVE worked with drug-addicts (esp. teens) for a while so I know what I am talking about. And what should you know about my friends? *I* saw the whole process and I know how it all started and ended. They also used to say “you should try it, you will see it’s not harmful” “no I am not addicted”. Well, one is RIP, the other I have no clue anymore.
I still don’t understand why one has to take a pill “when the party is a good one”, I do KNOW how to have fun without having to kill any cell in my brain with who knows what ;) (:O I also know how to have fun without drinking! ;))
The only thing I could tolerate is maria - after all if you have your own plantation ;) it’s natural. And I would make it legal for therapeutic reasons ONLY.

@Judith: I didn’t say anything about YOUR friends actually. I’ve seen what you’re talking about. I do agree however with you on the teen issue. Kids shouldn’t even smoke a joint. They’re still growing mentally and physically, and drugs are the last thing they should try. I think they’re more susseptible to becoming addicted to these 2 drugs as well. Like you said and I agree with you 100% that some people just are stronger than others when it comes down with addiction. Another thing I have learned: no1 can point a finger - everyone’s addicted to something. Be it ciggarettes, alcohol, drugs, or TV and Oprah, none of it is good for you. Everyone to his/her own I say.
