ATLTK,
Glanced over some small CD stores and HMV today, there are only a few of their titles. All from
Europe (Sweden, Italy).
. . .
xuseam,
Probably Shanghai sells CDs much cheaper than Southern China (Guangzhou and Shenzhen). I’ve never seen CDs sold as low as $1, even for pirates. Guess you’re talking about one US dollar, just don’t know how much is it equals to RMB at your calculation.
The two CDs, The Ballad Hits and Don’t Bore Us Get to the Chorus, are publised by Jingwen Record Company. I’ve been to their office in Guangzhou (another is in Beijing). Don’t you think a company selling pirates will disclose their address and web site to the public?

Eight8t,
You have been to Guangzhou, China.
Yes, I’m talking about they are both sold around one US dollar.
(But I want to tell you, the price of most things in southen China usually are higher than that in other places of China. )
Jingwen Record Company, I know this company. This company sells CDs in a very low price.
I always suspect this company really have some copyright, including its copyright of The Ballad Hits.
I bought this CD from a website (http://dangdang.com), I also find there are other pirated CDs on the website.
I don’t know whether you have bought either of them in Guangzhou.
I’ve never bought an official Roxette CD in such poor packing as they are.
There are another two CDS of Have A Nice Day and Room Service released by Shanghai Shengxiang and Nanjing Yinxiang Record company, they’re both sold at around $ 6. And they only could be found in some big music markets in Shanghai, neither TBH nor DBU in HDCD lays beside these two.

xuseam,
Your assumption:
1. CDs selling at very low prices = not having the copyright
2. website selling some pirates (you think so) = most likely other CDs they sell are pirates
3. poor packaging (you think so) CDs = pirates
4. CDs not appearing in big shops = pirates
As a result:
1. Have a Nice Day and Room Service are sold at low prices = pirates
2. TBH and DBU are available in PAC, the nation-owned (China Post) largest retail chain in Shenzhen = PAC is selling pirates

What do you exaclty mean by poor packing?
I’d like to buy those Chinese issues but I want to be sure they are not pirates. Also if they are released in HDCD format they should sound better that the European ones ’cos if not there’s no point.

I’m from China.
I ’ve bought THB, Don’t Bore Us in HDCD, both of their price are low, only around $1. So I don’t think these two domestic music Company have the copyright to release them. They are pirated items, with poor packing, but audio quality are not too bad.
