MTV Unplugged video REMASTERED
pietROxette said on February 16, 2004 19:34:
Hi everyone,
To celebrate this occasion, we have a birthday surprise. Erm... for YOU. Strange idea, isn’t it? But I guess all of you will like it. Thanks to the hard work of our newest member, TOM, from the Czech Republic, the MTV Unplugged is now completely remastered and available to download!
The video is linked in two different versions: divX avi and two complete SVCD image files, including a fantastic menu structure and some bonus material. However, please read the description on the download page before you select your version. The SVCD image files are large and you need to have a CD-burner and special software to be able to play them.
Hope you’ll like it! :-)

Oh my God. This is FANTASTIC news!!
The MTV unplugged session is far out. And Per looks so great with his haircut and sunglasses :-) and so is Marie. It’s a shame EMI didn’t take the effort to do this. So it’s Rox fans for Rox fans again.
Great Thanx to everyone who made this possible!!

Thanx a lot, Pietro! That’s one of my most favourite lives ever, esp. when Marie sings non-Roxette’s songs like “I never loved a man” and “Heart of gold” ;o) Thanx a lot - you’re best!
Jud (moderator) said on February 16, 2004 20:48:
thanks!! :D Let’s see when I get the new PC and can download it... what we don’t get from the record company.. we get from the fans :D

OMG i think thats almost every fans dream!! Thanks, can’t wait to check it out :-D
AntiMario said on February 17, 2004 08:10:
What was the source for remastering and can you really call it that way?
Jeronimo said on February 17, 2004 08:17:
Great!!!
Good job!
I have downloaded them last night, and am now enjoying ’the look’.
Not to be picky, but if someone could create a cd- or dvd-cover for the burned cd’s, that would be even better!!! (I am unfortunately not that good with photoshop...)
pietROxette said on February 17, 2004 09:30:
I’ll do one when I have some time, probably in a few days.
Chaghi said on February 17, 2004 13:07:
Talking about a cd-cover... does anybody remember this thread where somebody put a link to several roxette cd-covers? The thread was pretty active a few weeks ago.
This guy did an interesting job... maybe he get inspired with this new remastered version, and surprises us!
Chaghi said on February 17, 2004 13:13:
Hummm... I’m trying to download the .nrg images right now... but roxette.cs.caltech.edu seems to be VERY busy
I just get time-outs :(
I guess we all are fighting for the bandwith ;)
snape said on February 17, 2004 13:25:
I’m the guy behind really.roxette.org and I will do a cover for the MTV SVCDs.
Could anyone help me out with pictures from that event? I only have three mid-quality pics, but they dont really have cover qualitiy, so....
A tracklist for both CDs would also be great, I’m currently still downloading :-(
Emil__BG said on February 17, 2004 13:41:
Happy birthday roxbytes!!
Thank you, Pietro and Tom for great job!!
pietROxette said on February 17, 2004 14:58:
Snape, I’ll send you some screenshots from the SVCD menu, maybe you can use them. I was asking for some good quality unplugged pics, however, no-one seems to have any.
snape said on February 17, 2004 19:09:
Too late ;-)
The Cover is done, you can download it from my webpage:

I was so surprised to see the site has a Romanian version too! Thanx, Pietro! I didn’t expect that :)
Happy Birthday!

Hi everyone!
First a big compliment to Pietro and the others who made this all possible!. Thumbs up. Video quality is great for such an old recording. Are people still suffering with connection problems? I could open my FTP for people who have problems downloading. I don’t have a big upstream but i can offer up connections for 3 people at a time at 7 kb/s. I know it isn’t much but i would like to do something back for you all. This is offcourse if Pietro agrees. I don’t want to take credit for his GREAT work i just want to help bringing it to the people it belongs to.
Well just let me know and i open my FTP

@pietROxette
Thumbs up for the work !!!
Could you please put on the download page the MD5 sum or any other ’signature’ of the files?
I’d like to verify the integrity of the files before burning them, just to be sure the downloading was o.k.
@snape
Great cover !!! Far nicer than the Accoustic ’93 and Uncensored & Uncut ones.
Now... I just have to find a store that sells those “double-CD” boxes... is that a common thing? I’ve never tried to find them before.
Denstandigaresan said on February 17, 2004 22:12:
Go away. :(
I don’t care, i’ll stick with the video... *Sighs*
pietROxette said on February 18, 2004 08:41:
@rox-obsessed: hmmm... well, thanks for your offer, I really appreciate it. However, I think for about 1.5 GB, a download speed of 7 K would be a bit too slow. Also, that limit of 3 people would be immediately exceeded, so it’d result in people complaining that the download does not work. The SVCD and the divX versions are linked to a different server, hopefully they can handle the load :-)
@Chaghi: I don’t think I have such a file... honestly I don’t have the faintest idea what it is...
AntiMario said on February 18, 2004 11:01:

@pietROxette
Never mind... there is a small program called md5sum.exe. You can download it here (http://downloads.activestate.com/contrib/md5sum/Windows/) and in many other places.
You can put it in your C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND folder, and then, from a DOS prompt window, you go to the directory where the .nrg files are, and run
md5sum mtv_disc_1.nrg (and the same for the other one)
It takes a while, and after that it gives you a looong string of numbers and letters. That’s like a “fingerprint” or signature of the file. If you put that signature in your page, for example next to the download link of each file, others can download the .nrg files, run md5sum, and compare the fingerprint. If the sum is different, then you know for sure that something went wrong with the download, and the file is corrupted.
Here (http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/using_md5sums.html) (and in many other places...) are more details.
Anyway... this is Off Topic, isn’t it?
I just wanted to be sure that the files are downloading ok... with such a large files, you never know...
But please, just FORGET IT if this stuff sounds too complicated, you don’t have time or whatever. Never mind.

Roxrider_USA said on February 18, 2004 20:02:
Cool! Thanks a lot Roxbytes. You guys are always awesome. Happy b-day!
By the way, will the second CD Image fit a regular 80 minutes CDR?
And what special software would be necessary to burn the mages?
Thanks!
Take care.
Carlos E., New York.
pietROxette said on February 18, 2004 22:21:
Yup, it fits well in a regular 700 MB CD-R. The size of the image file is larger than the size of the actual SVCD. Don’t ask me why...
The software that can burn an SVCD from the image file is Nero Burning Rom.
Roxrider_USA said on February 19, 2004 02:04:
Thanks a lot for the attention Pietro. Have a good
“carnival” !! (From a brazilian)
Take care.

Ferdan said on February 19, 2004 03:26:
I downloaded the first CD and it didn’t work, the download got corrupted :(
the file is too big and that increases the chance of corrupted downloads :(
Ferdan said on February 19, 2004 10:38:
I downloaded it with Flashget....
It didn’t fix the corrupt data :(
—————-
What Chaghi said was right...
big ISO/NERO image files need a signature file like md5 or fsv.
Those “signatures” tell you if the file you downloaded is a 100% perfect “copy” of the original (or not).
—————–
Anyway, now I’m trying with the 2nd CD.
Chaghi said on February 19, 2004 14:15:
@Ferdan
Well, I have already tested the first part, and it works... the only problem is the menu. I tried 3 different players, and the only one that could manage the menu was PowerDVD.
But the content seems to be ok.
Here’s the md5 signature of my disc_1:
f06150f81c1cfa6af73608ca7adfb6f4 mtv_disc_1.nrg
Tonight I’m going to watch the second part. If it’s ok, I’ll post the md5 sum later here.
I wonder if anybody else have had problems with the menu ???
Ferdan said on February 19, 2004 18:35:
ok, the 2nd part worked fine for me, except the menu... when I jump to Heart of gold it keeps going to random parts of the file.... but maybe it’s just PowerDVD that makes the trouble.
I´m gonna download the 1st one again.
Anyway, the video looks good! thanx
Emil__BG said on February 19, 2004 19:20:
I downloaded 2 parts yestarday ,burn the 2 CD-s and watched it on my DVD player last night–it works fine..
Great job!!!
NigelBarnes said on February 19, 2004 20:08:
Yes - a great job. Can’t wait for Roxbytes 10th Anniversary now!
Well done Pietro and the others - thanks indeed.
DeLuk said on February 19, 2004 21:04:
Forgive for the load of ignorance in my question, but, how do you recognize when a downloaded file is corrupted? I mean, is it because it doesn’t work/play properly, or a corrupted file simply doesn’t work/play at all, or? Again, sorry for the dumbest question, but, this has always bugged me, and, since the subject was brought up, thought I’d ask...
Thank you.
Ferdan said on February 19, 2004 22:48:
Depends on what kind of file it is, if it is a video, it might work... but some parts of the video will look bad or hang.
If it’s a cd image, it works... but some parts won’t work..
if it’s a exe, it won’t work at all, generally.
DeLuk said on February 20, 2004 00:13:
Thank you, Ferdan, I see... And the corruption of a file, it may be because?... I mean, is it caused solely by breaking and resuming the download, and something going wrong then, or a file which is fully downloaded in a single attempt it may still get corrupted somehow for some reason, or?... (Sorry for extending my question to a new one!!...)
Ferdan said on February 20, 2004 01:24:
yeh, it could be a bad resuming of the download...
or if you are downloading and the PC turns off suddenly and you want to resume. And even if there’s a bad quality router(not sure about this one) at some point of the net.
There are more reasons but those are unlikely to happen (there were cases where SoundBlaster Lives! and some VIA CPU bridges combined, corrupted files when copying from one Hard disk to the other)
SkyDrum said on February 27, 2004 22:23:
Hi all! I’m having problems when I try to download the .nrg files of this concert. I use Flashget as Pietro recommends but it never finds the first file, it doesn’t say it’s corrupt, just stays searching the file and never gets it. What can I do Pietro? And one more thing: the second file is very big for a normal 700 Mb/ 80 min CD, it means I can’t record it... Please, can you help me? Thanx in advance and a BIG THANX for uploading these files. Bye!
pietROxette said on February 28, 2004 23:43:
@SkyDrum: the second file fits on a conventional CD, don’t care about the size of the image file, the total data to be burtn onto the CD is less, so it will fit on it, don’t worry.
I’ve just checked, the first CD image file is on the server and the download is working perfectly. Please note that the maximum number of simultaneous download threads is 2. So, since FlashGet downloads a file on 5 threads by default (suppose you didn’t change this) and you are already downloading something else from RB with FlashGet, you might have to face this phenomenon. See, the first download has used up both available download threads, so your other download cannot be started until the previous one is finished.
Emil__BG said on February 29, 2004 03:28:
i used flashget –no probs...
when you use a Nero– just click on Image files and it will burn the second file very fast and it will fit on 700 mb CD..
