Blacklist/whitelist?

Hej,
Since this forum is new and I already saw a few post about people being cheated or so, I want to ask if we could work with a blacklist and a whitelist.
I”ve seen this on other ’for sale’ forums and it works.
It’s a thread on where you’re nick/name appears in a whitelist when you did a good deal with someone. The other person has to put you on that list, not yourself.
And the black list is the opposite. When you are being cheated by someone, you can ask the moderators to put that person’s name on the blacklist.
And, you can get on or off the list as well; eg: you were on the blacklist, but did afterwards a good deal, you can be put on the white list.
And it works in both ways: eg someones says that he/she wants to buy from you, the deal is done, but you don’t get paid, then the other person can end up in the blacklist.
Anyway, just a suggestion, but I’m really in favorite of this, just to avoid thread about ’ don’t deal with this or that person’.
Before making a deal, go check the lists and in that way you can see if somebody can be trusted.

some thoughts:
- in order for only moderators to be able to add people to the blacklist the thread has to be archived - there is no such “locked” option.. but the whitelist could be open to everyone. We could treat the whitelist the same way, in order to avoid “cheating” (a member registering under 3-4-5 nicknames and giving a praise to himself ;))
- some of the problems between seller/buyer are missunderstandings, so in any case before putting somebody in a blacklist we would need to hear the story from the both parts. Also, when a problem is solved, the list should be edited.
- both the black + white list could look like this
name - nickname 1 -> [2]
name -nickname 2 -> [4]
being the -> [number] the number of times a person has been praised or reported as cheater. In the last case an explanation could be given...

Yes, indeed, everything you said is like the things I know already from other lists.
It works with a ’sticky’ thread, both parties have to agree on being put on the list.
And it works with some sort of points...
That’s about it.

problem is that there can’t be a sticky thread here either... and still gotta talk with the others to see if we really can manage it, get emails with complaints / praises etc and make a bit of “investigator” trying to find out if the complaint is right or not...

I’ve just about sold of my roxette stuff on eBay, I got another negative feedback from someone in Greece the other week because I left him negative... the guy failed to pay in the desired time, even though emails where sent and an non paying bidding alert from eBay, only a month later he must have been using eBay saw the negative and contacted me to sat he was leaving negative feedback for me!

I think you missunderstood. The fact that you had had troubles with ONE person from Argentina doesn’t mean that ALL argentinians are the same kind of people. I am really sorry if you were cheated, I was also cheated. I’m from Argentina and I NEVER cheated anyone, I have swaped cds and dvds with people from Asia, Europe, North America and also South Africa.
I was cheated by Fabio de Souza, who also cheated many many roxers, including Ted. He’s from Brazil but I don’t think all people from Brazil are like him. I was also cheated by Rene Brisbane from Australia, he sold me some roxette vinyls, I did pay registered postage and he never sent anything. And I was also cheated by someone from Israel who’s currently selling fake promos on Ebay (I’m trying to get my money back).
To sum up, you can see that cheaters are everywhere, I think you know you take the risk when you’re swaping. I strongly recommend you to exchange stuff with people you know they were honest with others.
