But both the POP cassettes from Canada are not easy to find, the version from 1986 is, according to the book, 4 stars. The version from 1989 is 7 stars! So yeah, I think they were worth something, but it’s always what someone wants to give for the item!

After cudgeling my brains for a bit, I now believe they were the 1989 version, because on the cassette it read something like “previously released as (insert album number)”. So yes, it was the 1989 version. Does 7 stars mean that it’s easier to find than the 1986 version which had 4 stars?

If you have a 1*, it means you can go into any second hand store and you have a great chance of finding it. If it has a 10* (the highest number in the book), it means there is only 1 specimen find all over the world! So a 7* would mean that it is quite hard to find!

Maybe if I do some searching in secondhand record shops and ask my friends if they still have their cassettes... who knows, maybe I can sell them on eBay, or do some trading for Roxette stuff that I’ve been looking for.

I have a copy of Joyride, Look Sharp & Tourism cassettes both played just the once and in mint condition, no scratches on cases and such like.... I totally forgot I had these but found them this morning in the attic... having a bit of a major clear out, British rain is keeping me in! ;)

I’ve come across multiple copies of the 1989 cassette (I found three at my local K-mart in the city I lived in as a teenager (Sudbury, ON)!) over the years, but I’ve never, ever seen the 1986 cassette. It’s the opposite with the LP (both are impossible to find, but the 1989 one is even harder to get than the original).

And I too remember looking at tapes on sale at HBC when I was a teenager, and there were about 15 POP cassettes in the bargain bin!

@Anarem: Well, the book is not the “perfect masterpiece”. It is written after people’s experiences and there might be stuff here and there that is not accurate. It is at least really hard to get it in Sweden (as well as the 86 release). I have never seen any of them, so I’m the wrong person to grade them! ;-)
