I LOVE Per’s the world according to Per. Almost as much as Roxette. Mazarin I do not like at all. Maybe I will have to listen to it again.

It seems like Roxette is at the bottom of Per’s priority list, as it’s just a way to get into America and other parts of the world. And being America (the record companies, media, NOT the fans) pretty much gave Per and Marie the shaft, Per’s not so concerned with performing his “job” well anymore, nor do I blame Per and Marie, not one iota. Then again, I don’t think they really care, as Roxette is not where Per’s true heart is, just his solo work and GT. In response, Roxette, MAGIC??? Um, sure, together, they are a magical pair, but many of the records are just too slick and overproduced. Normally, this would be a big problem, but Per’s pop smarts are there, so it’s still good. The records from now on, if Rox were to continue, must be more raw, spontaneous, immediate, mostly live, garagey, loud powerpop, like TWATG, or ON, or SIMC, or “Real Sugar”. If they were to do a clubby dance track, make sure it’s as bright, immediate and catchy as “Stars”.
I just WISH GT and Per’s and Marie’s solo work is what broke em worldwide, not the slicked up Roxette. I wish TWATG is what Rox was really like, loud, raw, garagey, rocking powerpop, not so techno-ish dancey, slicked-up pop. I am happy that Rox’s latter stuff, from CBB to RS and ON went into this direction. Now, Mazarin is a HUGE success!! In a way, I wish Swedish was a worldwide language, then it could appeal to fans on a global level, as opposed to a regional one, as it’s purity of Per’s vision, and not a sellout...

I believe Roxette will return in some form. I doubt they will be the same as in the past. Both Per and Marie have changed, so their music will probably also evolve.
In the meantime, no sense whining and complaining - why not enjoy the solo work and GT?

I just think that given Marie’s illness 2003 was the time for Per to start up some solo-stuff (Mazarin).
And I have read somewhere that it is now Marie’s time to do something solo, so Roxette has to wait, but will be back in 2005.
And if Marie is doing a solo-album, Per doesn’t have to sit still and can do the GT-tour.
No problem at all!

I think everything must come to an end. Sometimes I keep on wondering about this but it isn´t a problem to me. I know perfectly that M&P will go doing music because “they love their work” :) so if roxette comes to an end soon anyway I will be thanked for all the music that they gave us.

Hey Harriej!! What’s up, man??? Yep, it’s been a long time, but I am back, start off 2004 fresh. Yes, I understand why Per and Marie put Roxette on hiatus, but I don’t mind, with all this great solo activity and a rebooted GT, things are mighty fine indeed!! I don’t miss Rox, I prefer their solo work and GT, then again I am curious how they evolved Rox when they re-emerge in 2005 or 2006. Email me, man...
