New Roxette DVD (pics)

I suppose some of you are interested in the artwork of the new Roxette DVD. I think the official release date is tomorrow (17.11.). American/Canadian fans have to wait a little longer.

Here are some pics:

Is it worth, if you already have the first edition? Unfortunately, I can´t answer this question.

Are that the pics from the german release? :o)
Because there is “Freigegeben ohne Altersbeschränkung” :-/
Is that already aviable or where from you have the pics? I want to have the DVD, too. ;-)

*edit*
OK. I saw you from Switzerland, the same language. Is that then already aviable in your country? :o)

Oliver yes it is worth it. I bought my 1st edition whatever you want to call it from England which ofcourse I cannot watch here in Canada due to system difference. I am looking forward to buying the DVD because then I’d be able to watch it!!!

Thank you so much for sharing these pics with us! The artwork is cool :D
Im so happy.. althouh I already have the All videos ever made... Im happy cos Roxette will finnaly have a DVD here in Brazil.

Thanx again!!

Am I missing something here? Brain cells, my eyes? Cause on picture two, says... Ballads hits and pop hits... then goes on to list everything under the ballad hits... They’ve missed out the pop hits... so looks like it’s all under the ballads...
or can I just not see it??

thanks! Obviously it is NOT worth buying, not even the artwork could convince me... seems like it was fixed in a rush...

@Denst... (too difficult a name to remember): I noticed the same thing. How can someone make a mistake like that??!?!?!?!!! Or maybe there’s some kind of a trick or something...?

Thanks the scans are great, do you have some screen shots of the menu, how does the dvd start like the previous one had the yellow letters scrolling on a red background...you know what I mean...

There is no mistake. They are under TPH, 2nd column. You are not using your eyes carefully :D.

I know which one you mean now. The 2nd one. the last one is fine though.

Oliver where did you get these from??

Yeah, 2nd one... but The Pop hit’s isn’t listed... it goes from...
Milk & Toast & Honey, to Opportunity Nox... All listed under the Ballad Hits.
Na, I’m not loosing my mind, checked, triple checked. :D

What about the video and sound quality? is it better than All the videos dvd?

Well, my appetite is whetted! I told my friend, when she asked what I wanted, to get this DVD for me for Christmas, and now I want Christmas to be early.

Already for sale in Russia. According to review of Lak “slightly” better sound. DDSurround 224 instead of DD 2.0 192, some videos re-mastered.

Is it a double or single DVD? PAL, NTSC or there are both releases?

Both versions, for worldwide releases - even USA! The missing “Pop Hits” headline is sad, hopefully it’s only the first row of german copies. Thanx for the scans anyway, now I’d love to see the menu design!

eduard33: “Is it a double or single DVD?”

Wondering the same myself... The FanShop has it listed as a 2 DVD release (Ginza had too but now they don’t?)... Yet there’s only 1 disc among Oliver’s pix... So I’m guessing it isn’t a 2 DVD after all?... (And in the end yes they indeed skipped those 5 extra videos from “All The Videos Ever Made & More”... and “The Look” visible mix... such a pity... :( Was still hoping... Too bad... *sigh*)

It’s both released in PAL and NTSC, although it seems the NTSC version isn’t out yet. Strange also about the 1 or 2 disc... My Russian source does say it’s a double.

i;m gonna throw away or sell my european one and get the americna release if it has the same track listing its awesaome i hope they fixed the dvd interaction!

who the hell do they contract to do the artwork, the covers and all??????

The guy/girl just missed the “The pop hits” title.. how stupid can one get???

I wonder if they edited the “meny” mistake........

is it any posters avalibale for it

Tracks were compiled exactly the same as the CD´s, all other tracks are listed under extras.

I’ve got another complain: in my country the “old” dvd (all videos ever made . . .) costs EUR 34,13 and the new one EUR 25,85. So, which one is definitly the better one . . . :D

does it come in a case or is it paperboxed?

I was wondering the same thing as Roxlad... Is it in an Amarray case or Digipak-type thing?

any posters?

Isn´t it early to ask for posters? You have to wait until some countries release the DVD.

Ted, quit it!!

Thanks again for more pics, Oliver!

dosent all european countries release it today

OH PLEASE don’t tell me that all the videos got the information layered on them! (like these pics of Chances & UDST show)...
GOD I hate that! I mean: if I buy the DVD I want the videos on their original integrity....otherwise I could easily record them from MTV, with all that annoying information!!!
Too sad!

*agrees with RoxBang2003*

How stupid is that? VERY.

Mmmm... Maybe its some kind of subtitle that you can remove, like in Madonna´s Girlie Show Live Down Under DVD, you can remove the name of each live track and the stupid coments (like “salsa music playing”, “computer generated male voice”, “funky bass intro” or “rain falling” - that was a killer... not!).

Ah... this is an EMI Release, I forgot...

tevensso haha

Does it matter whether it comes in plastic box, metal or gold?? Isn’t it the DVD you watch? I don’t get it.

I don’t think this one being cheaper than the other one means this is worse. Price doesn’t indicate anything, not at all.

Too many complaints. I don’t know where you guys are from. But where I am from, even if they release one song per DVD, that would make me happy. We don’t get to have Per throw concerts here and Roxette sign posters and .... Stop complaining.

Which version of the ’It must have been love’ video will be on it, the pic in the booklet shows a pic from a tv performance, right?... That’s strange...

Thanx for the screenshots as well! I’m not too much in love with all that pink - but I like the heavy use of the Roxette Recordings logo and the portraits!

What about the random play feature it was said to of had. Has it got it?

Well, every1, I‘m not the “only-complain” kind of person...but as a fan, I have to point out the flaws on Roxette‘s releases.
I STILL think it‘s insane and (as Markus pointed out) stupid to let those “director, album etc” information appear on the videos. Come on, it’s a DVD release...doesn‘t it come with a booklet with that information???
As far as my DVD-experience goes, when they REALLY need to show that information on screen, they do so by adding a STILL screen BEFORE the video starts.
(check Celine Dion & Shania Twain DVDs for ex.)
But, still, I‘m very happy with the release here in Brazil and hopefully it will be a succesfull one!

wow my wish came true they fixed the whole look of the menus!!!!!! now i must have my boyfriend get it for me :)

Ok Are the IMHBL and AU Clips the Theatrical ones of the Roxette Ones like on the DBU-GTTC Video?

What is the quality like on The Older Clips? Is it better that All The Videos..?

Is the WICF Video UNCUT [Do you see Breasts?]

If someone has both the PAL version Either All Videos or The New DVD and the NTSC Version can Someone compare the quality and the pitch of the Audio?

Thanx

Dave

mej?

the info about the video (director etc) stays there during all the video? or in the beginning or??? can u switch it off??

The title thing is at the beginning of every song (even at the beginning of the documentaries). It´s about 10 seconds. So far, I couldn´t manage to switch it off.
Interesting: If you skip, let´s say to 1:30 and you rewind the track back to 0:00 and let the video play you can´t see any information.

Stay calm, everyone. If it disappears when you do *something* (see above comment) to the DVD, it means it hasn’t been printed onto the film, and is just an extra. This means there must be some way to get rid of it :-)

I’d have gone bonkers if they’d left that on. And as someone said before me, it is odd that they have a pic of the TV performance to represent It Must Have Been Love, when it’s noted in the booklet that it’s the “Pretty Woman Version”.

A real shame they didn’t take more time over this... or at the very least, get a someone from TDR or the Fan Club to check through it before it was released.

:S

Hope you understood the rubbish I wrote above. Believe it or not, I’m an English native.

Adding to the fantasy DVD:

a commentary track for each video would have been cool, where Per and Marie discuss the video a la Mystery Science Theater 3000. (“Not the ducks! Not the bloody ducks again!”)

wow such fickle whiners no wonder they are on a break their ears must bleed from all the bitching

– the perfect DVD - the only thing i would add would be a discography showing all the single and album covers, with release dates etc. & both versions of IMHBL and AU.

@ chriswilliams - yeah if only they let a fan go over the DVD then we might just end up with everything we wanted, or at least something alot better.

Anarem - what a great idea (maybe on the next release :) i read that Stings new DVD has that feature.

anyone willing to make a rip of the subtitles?

Honestly, I see no reason why having a Roxette fan (or fans) go over such a release before it gets released/printed. That way things can be done correctly. All these errors make EMI/Capitol look so cheap!

I hope there‘s a subtitle feature that shows the lyrics! I mean, it‘s SUCH a great feature of DVDs nowadays.
And, if the annoying “information” on the begginning of each video is not ’printed’ on the videos... then maybe there‘s a hope after all...
can‘t really understand some EMI decisions...I would wait ONE MORE year, if that‘s the time they need to deliver THE perfect DVD...

ps: by the way, NOTHING on earth will ever make me forgive them for the “Main MENY” mistake on the old DVD.. I mean...HOW dumb you can get ?

probably MENY is the Swedish word for MENU and probably the DVD authoring was performed by a Swedish team.... I agree that EMI should double-check.... but the thing I hate most is when they print ’Fading like a flower’ instead of ’Fading like a flower (everytime you leave)”.... now which record am I talking about???? He he.... easy one.

you guys have to rember to that alot of the production of dvd’s is done to outsourced companies not emi’s main picture company...it looks great shut up! having a fan go over the dvd would be a bit insane...what do any of you knwo about international marketing...and lets rmeber emi is still in a low profit situation the fact roxette is releasing an INTERNATIONAL dvd is a miracle so shut up

@Thomas—LOL!

coyboy 100% agree with you.
What the hell is wrong with everyone? Which band in the world ever gets a fan to check for them? Be realistic!!! So they make a mistake. Is that the end of the world? Jeeez.... Just let it go. Put the DVD in your DVD player and watch it. If it looks cheap or not worth paying for, don’t buy it. As simple as that. Why argue so much over stupid mistakes and what you would do to make it better. Write to EMI or whoever in charge and explain your views. They might consider them. It’s easy to talk rather than do things eh?!?!

Gee, people here are under a lot of stress...
We were just commenting about the mistakes on the releases. I feel very satisfied with the new DVD release, but let’s face it: there are always a lot of little mistakes on EMI’s releases that could be easily avoided.
And about the “asking a fan to check out the thing” being ridiculous...well, it wouldn’t be necessary if they could put up a nice job for themselves....
(like Sony do for their artists for ex.)

A bad quality release affects Roxette, it doesn’t help. Specially when it comes to DVD media, a media in expansion, a media wich is taking its expansive force from one simple reason, quality: Quality of picture, quality of sound and quality in presentation at a relatively low price compared to what CD has to offer, that’s why DVD is the media with the biggest expansion in the last years. The biggest DVD consumers enjoy buying DVDs because in the average, they know they’re getting quality... some simply walk by the DVD’s section of the shop and buy a few... and when they get a bad one they won’t be buying another from the same releaser/title/band, etc.

As for the reasons that made this Roxette product “not as good” as it should, “we” aren’t even talking about quality in terms of “amount of money invested in the product”. “We” are talking about human mistakes that are independent of money, investments or significant aditional work time. We are talking about some kind of “negligence” or simple incompetent people doing a supposed to be professional work of an Internationally known professional band. Or it could even worse, people subestimating Roxette.

So complaining about it is protecting our own pokets in the future and in a way, helping Roxette.
I have some other DVD from other bands and solists... even smaller than Roxette, or national bands with no international projection, that offered a DVD with better quality, by simply taking care of making it good!... you don’t even need more money.
In my opinion a band like Roxette deserves a perfect DVD release, I´m not talking about fancy features, I´m talking just about a responsible job and responsible people making it, thing that is not impossible.

If you don’t think Roxette deserves better, well... you must have your reasons.

*agrees with Ferdan*

Well said! *smirks*

1-2-3-4 Go Ferdan! Go Ferdan! Go Ferdan! You Rock! You Rock! You Rock!

...wait isn’t that a song?

p.s could people that have the dvd please compare the video quality of this release to the previous one and which versions of WICF, AU and IMHBL are they using? oh forgot to say please.

Yeah Ferdan, well said!!
I‘m also curious to know about the quality of the videos...
I was shocked by the (bad) VHS-quality of some videos on the old DVD...
Videos like Sleeping In My Car or C!B!B! looked like a VHS record from tv...
Worse than that: In “Spending My Time” and “Fading Like A Flower” you can actually SEE those “artifact lines” (ok,don‘t know a way to describe them) like on old VHS tapes.
I hope they got the videos this time from a GOOD source tape.

...and Joyride had a sync problem on the old one...

ok so you guys never would have bought the cbb tour book cause of the some dozen typos and spelling errors on it? lets not be absurd. ANd at this point is anyone even gonna notice the quality of a dvd released by roxette? aside from the latin american market and sweden they are not nearly as big as they used to be...we have to face that fact. ANd as for the human eror side....if per and marie didn’t feel comfortable with the fuinal release they can pull it especialyl since this one bears the roxette recording emblem I am sure that means per and marie had more control over this release than the emi one. i cant imagine how u guys would cry if they only put this out on vhs...which happens to a lot fo bands who are not as internationally prominent like roxette

FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE SOMETHING SMALL IS A BIG DEAL SO IF IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL FOR YOU THEN RESPECT THAT IT IS FOR SOMEONE ELSE.

Maybe they would like to have a nice menu design and gets very disapointed when they see it, to you it might seem stupid but to them it is not. So that is why when Roxette release something they should do it the BEST they can and not just give it a highschool job

We are only saying: “If you want to do something, do it properly or leave it!” The fact that they are not more famous as they use to be does not mean the can go around and produce “half-effort” material! I mean like the MENY mistake they had on the previous one! My lecturer always have a FIT if we have spelling mistakes because it is UNPROFESSIONAL (excuse mine in this one ;o))

The fact is I still want to buy the dvd and I will EXPECT of it to be EXCELENT quality because that is what I am paying for. If they want to release stuff like this they should do it the right way or rather leave it!

FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE SOMETHING SMALL IS A BIG DEAL SO IF IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL FOR YOU THEN RESPECT THAT IT IS FOR SOMEONE ELSE.

Yeah! In fact, I already ordered my DVD from a brazilian website (pre-sale).
I still expect it to be good...
But let’s face it: we’re dealing with a high-quality video format...so I want this Rox-DVD to be as perfect as a DVD can get.
Improving the quality of the releases would only put Roxette on the top again..
example: If I buy any DVD today, and I don’t like the quality of it, be sure I will be posting a BAD review in a site like Amazon, for example.
Now tell me: is it good for Roxette?

Well Said ferdan.

In Reality All that we really want is ALL of Roxette’s Videos Uncut and in reasonable condition.
I mean the Audio Bitrate for the first DVD was Sooo low that even the Official Roxette VCD had a Higher Bitrate.

It seems as if EMI has never ever made any NEW masters of Roxettes Video Clips.

I will be buying the new DVD and Comparing it with

1. the Orginal DVD

2. The Official VCD

3. DBU-GTTC VHS

4. Some Promo VHS’s

5. MPEG 1 Clips from ther Cd Maxis.

Cheers

Dave

“”example: If I buy any DVD today, and I don’t like the quality of it, be sure I will be posting a BAD review in a site like Amazon, for example.
Now tell me: is it good for Roxette?”“
——-

oh yes, i totally forgot about that... online reviews have a nice amount of influence...
you better please the costumer, or he´ll review against your product.
Or the “geeky” DVD review’ sites, where they even tell you what kind of ink the packaging have!...
they’re over the top tho.

Just to add:

Personal preferance:
I kinda expect of the the whole package deal: sleeve design, graphic design ect. to be at the same level as the music...so I would kinda like a great package to compliment the great music that is on it if you understand what I am trying to see...but like Per once said: He doesn’t really care that much about the sleeve designs ect. and I think that is a BIG mistake because to have something that looks cheap be the face of your “Best ever songs”...that is a bad thing

ur all dashing the first dvd which in al honestly wasnt a per and marie effort it was an emi effort thats why it sucked! they rushed it out...u can’t blame per and marie for everything emi...and honestly its all about the videos..it could come in a carbopard box to me and i woulkd still love it get over the image and enjoy the content

Exactly Ferdan!

fans won’t give the product back, or will keep on buying even if the quality isn’t as good as it should be.. but if we think “damn, another spelling mistake” what do you think reviewers and other professionals or even ppl who isn’t a big Rox fan will think?

It doesn’t take so much to realise about these small details that make you think the person sitting in front of the screen designing the cover is a) unprofessional b) doesn’t care bout her/his job....

I mean.. yeah, EMI ppl may not have done the layout, but hell, I guess they have looked at it! Nobody realised? It would have taken just 5 minutes to write “The pop hits” in there! Or to write “menU” instead of “meny” (we fans know this is the word for Menu in Swedish, but others may not know that and think “jeez they can’t spell”)...

still no posters or other promotion?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I went to HMV today to see if the new Roxette DVD had come out today, but no luck! I checked Amazon.ca, found that it was on sale, but when I went to Amazon.com, it said that it was coming out December 2!

So to my Yankee friends, order from Canada, it’s way cheaper ($20 Canadian versus $28 US) and you might get it sooner!

Got it! In Vancouver, Canada, at the Future Shop down the street from my apartment (after wasting an hour and a half looking for it downtown... grrr!). I love it, but then, this is the first Roxette DVD in NTSC, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I only get the information at the beginning of each video if the subtitles are turned on; otherwise, I get just the video. Has anyone succeeded in getting the random play feature to work?

no posters?

ATLTK: NO, there are NO posters and there WON’T BE any posters for the DVD.

AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, gimme some of that MM... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ted, the ’Any Posters’ question is getting too frequent on here. You know the reaction people get it being asked all the time. I don’t get why you continue to ask.

Wow, Ted, you must really like posters! Someone start a poster threat, where we discuss posters. :-)

so the question have been asked before but somehow it is STILL unaswered:

What is the quality of the videos in the new DVD compared to the last one?

Don’t have the last one, but I will have the new one soon. Just ordered it last night!

IT’S BEEN SHIPPED!!!! *dancing crazily—but on the inside (I’ll be weetting myself when I get it next week)*

okies, as soon as I get my Roxette DVD (hopefully tomorrow), I will check it out, and report back on the quality...

GOT IT THIS MORING! I was expecting it next Wednesday at the earliest. Go Amazon Cananda.

Good quality. Any distortion I’d say was deliberate on the directors part. (Corbijn—I’m talkin’ to you. Fish? Really?)

The labels, as I think I saw before, are only visible for about ten seconds at the beginning of the song (I didn’t time it) and only with the subtitle function on—and I’ll go out on a limb and say that’sthe DVD setting to beginwith.

There’s no random play, at least not labelled so you can see it, but if you select the PLAY ALL function, the videos will play all the way through and then loop back to the start and play them all over again.

Yes, the labels are definitely “subtitles”. So you can turn them off.
