Roxette on VH1 in US...

O.K. No pic of Per and Marie, but VH1 in the US aired a program about celebrities and nudity. So where do Roxette fits into this you might wonder, well the Wish I could Fly video with the scene on the bed was played quite a few times during the program. They did not play the music…;-( If you are in the US, I’m sure VH1 will air it again…

Bugger. At first I was thinking they FINALLY made a Behind the Scenes episode about them. Thank you EMI USA for all the help since the early 90s.

I live in the us right now and they NEVER showed ANYTHING about Roxette, EVER!!!! it’s really frasturating! i wish i could catch something on them here sometime, and if you could tell me (whenever you’ll know) when this program is back on, i’d appriciate it...

Kiwi: You are aware that EMI USA has been bankrupt for a long time now and no longer an active part of the music biz here in the US... right?

Since VH1 repeats everything seventy-thousand times, yes, I think it’ll pop up again.

The show was called “VH1 All Access: Getting Naked” and they played it last night at nine. I looked on the web page, but they currently don’t have it on their schedule any more. (Maybe due to all the nudity, not that you could see anything....)
Like I said you actually never saw Per and Marie, but it was definitely the WICF video. They only showed all the nudity in the video. Did not even give Roxette credit at the end, but then again the credits rolled so fast...
MiracleMan said on November 11, 2003 19:04:
It must be an older show, or else we’d see it thirty more times this week.
It’s odd, because WICF I heard on the radio ONCE, when I was on a trip to the Chicago area arounf the DBUGTTC American release. I did, though, catch a snippet of Stars when I was fliping through MTV. It was a fashion-related thing and they played the part of the intro after the drums kick in. Otherwise, Roxette is no where to be seen.
BTW—did they identify that it was Roxette in the program?
geytenbeek said on November 11, 2003 19:08:
No, never even mentioned Roxette. They even showed Rock DJ of RW, and his name was also not mentioned.
LittleSpooky said on November 12, 2003 02:38:
This is why Roxette hasn’t had DECENT representation in the US since.... Joyride / Tourism era. Hence Edel America Records and... Capitol (?) But it hasn’t worked too well. Of course, if Roxette did a bit MORE promo cities (than just NYC / LA / and a couple of others) that would help. But the US isn’t a major market for them anymore.
This is one of those that I’ll have to do a bit more diggin on to formulate a better reply for you.

I was hoping that Roxette would promote TBH with appearences on the late night circuit, but I believe that was around the time that Marie’s illness was discovered. (Yes?) That would have been ideal—Roxette performing ATAY on Leno or Letterman. But it wasn’t to be. Had things been different. . .
coyboyusa said on November 12, 2003 05:41:
wel let sbe hnest promotion is a 2 way street..when usa hots came out they were working on rs...when ballad hits came out marie was ill and per decided to do something in swedish so maybe we can’t always blame labels...also emi europe fought alot with edel records and mrs dimberg..so much that their appearance in ny 2000sept 27 almost didn’t happen.....
LittleSpooky said on November 12, 2003 06:46:
Coyboy: You JUST restated EVERYTHING I said. Reread what you wrote, and what I wrote.
I commented on both the lack of promotion by the Label AND by Roxette.

Did anybody on USA realized that on “VH1: I love the 80’s”, they never mentioned Roxette?
Every AMERICAN guy that i know, knows the song “it must have been love” and specially “the look” .
How come theyre not there?
MiracleMan said on November 14, 2003 06:19:
That’s a fun series. They ran an I Heart the 80s Strikes Back recently—and have been running them ad nauseum since, and myattention to it has been sporadic at best this round. I haven’t seen any Roxette years in the new one, but I think they talked about Pretty Woman in the first batch. But it’s funny to see all that stuff I grew up with. Just waiting with horror for the fashions to come back. Feathered hair, ripped sweat-shirts, leg warmers, shoulderpads, the damn skinny tie. . .
LittleSpooky said on November 14, 2003 20:29:
I think cuz Pretty Woman came out in 1990, that’s why you don’t see IMHBL on the *80s* flashback
coyboyusa said on November 14, 2003 23:34:
technically roxette didnt hit it rewal big until 1990..in 1989 they only got recognized when emi took them back to sweden when they ” ran out of money” for video shootsa which was so embarrasing
LittleSpooky said on November 15, 2003 03:21:
1989, Roxette was HUGE in Utah due to promotion from POWER99 and Andy Barber and his morning crew. Last time I checked, coy, Utah was PART of the US.
MiracleMan said on November 15, 2003 03:37:
Wasn’t Look Sharp! released in ’88? *confirms the copyright date on CD is 1988* The Look, DFS, LTYH, & Dangerous were ALL OVER the radio in ’88 & ’89.
geytenbeek said on December 30, 2003 20:16:
The show is on VH1 in the USA again this Friday, Jan 2 @ 11:30/10:30c for those of you who are intrested.
coyboyusa said on December 31, 2003 16:34:
in the usa the look charted late in 89...technically their first HUGE hit was IMBL in 1990 so when i love the 90’s comes on 90-92 will of course mention roxette don’t get ur nickers in knots
Starrox said on December 31, 2003 19:39:

Interesting, I didn’t know march is already late in 89... ;-)
(Per and Marie got the message about TL making it to #1 in the USA on March 28th, at least according to the biography...)
