No "Pop Hits" in the USA?

Well, ’The Ballad Hits’ was released in the USA on April 22, 2003. Anyone have any ideas if Capitol USA wishes to release ’The Pop Hits’ at all? I don’t see why not. They release all these “Classic Masters” albums by acts like Corey Hart and Crowded House. Why can’t they release Roxette material? Any ideas?

I was happy to see 2 copies of ’The Ballad Hits’ at work this evening. It got me thinking about the popcorn! ;)

plans for a usa pop collection were scrapped when nox flopped

how do YOU know when it was scrap’d??

I don’t think so, since NOX wouldn’t be released as single in the US anyway. Also TBH was a “silent” release in the US, so maybe TPH will come out before christmas?!

I don’t think the success of Nox or the success of ’The Pop Hits’ outside the USA had anything to do with the release of it here. Capitol USA did not even promote ’The Ballad Hits’ to ANY extent. It just came out in stores. So I’m wondering why ’The Pop Hits’ wouldn’t just come out in stores as well. Promotion is the key. The reason it did well overseas is because of promotion. Capitol USA surely couldn’t have expected ’The Ballad Hits’ to do well here in the USA WITHOUT promotion. But yeah, maybe before Christmas for the pop hits? It would be nice just to have their stuff released here.

It was great to have TBH released here, but I gave up on a domestic release of any Roxette album after waiting in vain for what seemed forever for HAND to get US distribution. That never happened, and I remember not long after that a report that Roxette was, in effect, not going to bother with US distribution. I finally found HAND in an import bin at a music store and snatched it up. After RS never appeared here, I resigned myself to other avenues of procurement.

So it’s not for nothing that I haven’t bought a domestically produced Roxette album—aside from the Edel collection—since CBB. DBUGTTC (the non-US edition), HAND, RS, TBH and TPH I got as imports, the last 3 via the computer. Why not order Pop Hits on-line? (TBH & TPH limited-editions have some rather fine tracks on them.) Hope for the best with TPH in the US, but get on-line and get the CDs: you’ll be happier in the end.
