Falco

I like this Austrian pop-star who unfortunately died in ´98. He made it big in the 80´s with a hit Rock Me Amadeus, it even charted US top 10 which is very rare and extra-ordinary for Austrian artist.
I suppose I´m the only one here who likes him. Correct if I´m wrong.
:) peace

I think he was the first German-speaking rapper, he had a nr 1 in the US charts, lived in the Dominican Republic at the end of his life, he was quite into drugs and such.. and died indeed in a car accident.
harriej said on July 20, 2003 15:48:
I only know his songs Jeanny and Rock me Amadeus.
Both are good songs.
He died in a car accident, not because of Aids.
I wouldn’t call his musicstyle rap.

Not familiar with Falso much, But “Rock Me Amadeus” was a Good song :-) Man, that was some of the first Euro-Rap in that song I think.
BTW, Chess “One Night in Bangkok” also had some 80’s Rap in it. And it was written by the Great Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus :-)))))

Perhaps Freddie Mercury? He’s the only one I remember at that time dying of it.
coyboyusa said on July 22, 2003 18:04:
no i got falco confused with the guy who sang forever young he died of aids too
there wee alot of lesser known 80’s artists who quietly dies of aids
spacedog said on July 23, 2003 06:47:
@coyboyusa: I’m quite sure the Alphaville singer did not die of aids. He’s still very alive as far as I know ;)

his song JEANNY wasn’t allowed to be played on the radio... his “latest hit” was OUT OF THE DARK - good song. maybe you’ll find them on kazaa.
BonBon said on July 24, 2003 15:30:
perhaps Coyboy is talking about Holly Johnson of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, he had aids but as far as I know he didn´t die. (?)
KazAV said on February 16, 2004 05:12:
Oh yeah, Marian Gold of Alphaville is very much alive and well and living in Germany doing his Alphaville thing :-) Well, at least he was when I last heard from him...

I see a pattern forming here:
Coy: Do your research before commenting on things. You’re looking foolish again.
As for Falco, Rock Me Amadeus was my introduction to him and I still play the crap out of that song when I’m in the mood. It’s one of my all time faves and is on several different CDs that I’ve made
harriej said on February 16, 2004 21:47:
Really? Frankie Goes To Hollywood was one of my favourites in the 80’s.
Too bad he died.
MiracleMan said on February 17, 2004 13:19:
Holly Johnson was just on VH1’s Reuniting the Band. They tried to get Frankie Goes to Hollywood to reunite for a one noght concert, but Johnson said he wasn’t “a wedding singer” and wouldn’t do it.
DaminehGessle said on February 17, 2004 21:44:
Freddie died in 1991, not ’98 and not the 80’s. How can one mistake him for another?! Pshhshsh :(
Stormkeeper said on March 6, 2004 22:47:
Holly Johnson did NOT die!! It was only a strong rumour! But it´s true he had/has aids. He´s alive.
kiwijazza said on July 20, 2003 01:40:
I like him too. He was pretty big here in New Zealand too. I also like his other hit, Der Kommissar. :)
