1. Does anybody think Rox will ever be topping charts around the globe? I think not. Per somehow writes better (more succesfull) songs in swedish, and roxette will never release a swedish album.
2. When listening to the current charts, I always spot 2 or 3 songs of which I think it sounds a lot like roxette. But then I have to face the fact that those songs sound like roxette SHOULD sound like, but rox doesn’t. I get the feeling that other bands are better in creating the typical roxette sound, than rox themselves. Is this only because per got bored with the way he used to write (succesfull) songs?? I can not understand why he doesn’t write the so called big ballads anymore...I mean it doesn’t have to be a copy of listen to your heart or something....
3...I still enjoy rox music very much, and I don’t want to complain...but I try to understand WHY per and marie would again go into the studio and record a rox album?? I always end up with one reason.....make money from us...the “hardcore fans”.

If Roxette would be still doing music just because of the money they would be doing everything different as it is now. And their song would be in every chart, specially USA.

yeh, still far is right about setting a direction...
i think that was one of the problems...
“we gotta sound more fresh and uptodate” and then doing all the studio shit to acomplish that sound...even if it is not true to themselves
that made everything sound so..... dunno, boring... or un-natural.
And Rox is better when sounding natural
but anyway, i don’t care if they’re not big worldwide again as long as they keep making good music, solo or together.

I can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone else who sounds even remotely like Roxette. The nearest was Belinda Carlisle for all of two songs (both by Per, one of which might as well have benn Roxette, as all the band played).
I’ve no idea what you could mean by how Roxette should sound - surely Roxette sound as they sound, and that’s it.
What precisely is wrong with making money from us? Isn’t music what they do to live? And don’t we want more of it?
I must admit that I would like another couple of songs along the lines of Listen To Your Heart or Fading Like A Flower (the big American 80s FM sound as Per put it once). The nearest Per has come since Joyride is My World, My Love, My Life (and why wasn’t THAT on TBH?)

The fans in the US, the ones that makes these songs #1, are a very fickle group. Anything foreign isn’t worth listening to, especially anything that has been out of the spotlight for more than ten seconds.
Don’t you think that they (Roxette) make albums because it might be fun to do?? It might be their living?? I have nearly had it with everyone questioning whether Roxette will make it big again. WHO CARES!!?? They’re still producing albums, that should be enough.
I mean, c’mon now, they’re still big in several countries, that’s still something. I know that I will buy everything they come out with, whether they are successful or not. That is the roll of a fan. A true ’hardcore fan’. It is our job to enjoy their endeavors and support them for the hours of entertainment that they have brought us. Not B**ch and moan at every single turn.
What do they owe us...generally, NOTHING!!
So what if Per Gessle released an album in swedish, it is his native language after all. So what if Roxette won’t record for a while longer. Marie has been going through a very rough time in her life, and it seems that all you can think about is ’when is the next album’. Let her heal and let things progress naturally. Just know that there will be another Roxette album and be happy with that.

I’m still not complaining about roxette...I just want this to be a good discussion, but somehow it is just not possible to have discussion about rox music (where this forum is all about...at least I thought) with roxette fans without getting flamed for starting a topic like this. Well, not for all of the people in this forum of course.
I did not attack anyone in this forum did I? But it’s alright. Let’s just close this topic.
Some time ago I read a topic of someone who wondered why the whole forum is dying....

I think you are very narrow-minded. It doesn’t matter if it takes nowhere...

Hello! I don’t care whether Roxette is on the charts or not. The main thing is that they make a great music. I like their powerful songs best (like Joyride) so the style change (i mean the album Room service) was a bit strange for me. But I don’t complain. With time I’ve learned to love all of their songs, not just the hits. I think that today they make first of all ballads, but it’s okay. I don’t believe that the whole thing would be just about money. I still believe in Roxette and I still hope that they make everything with their hearts.

What I miss in the last couple of roxette albums I hear in mazarin. He had fun while making mazarin and it sounds like it to in the music.
Per needs to get the hunger back to get nr1 international again but I dont think he wants to

I think that Per and Marie have reached what they wanted. If Per really feels this way, I can understand him. They have had a lot of success and after a time man feels already tired. And I don’t think that the international no 1 place is the most important. Just think about it... How would you feel if you were Per or Marie?

if you don’t believe in roxette anymore, then leave em alone....
everybody is having his/her favourite part of roxette (for me, it’s the non-comertial songs), but artists HAVE to vary, otherwise they weren’t artists...
