my opinion

Hey I’m new here!
I’ve been a fan of Roxette for quite a long time now (being about 10 years) and I’ll admit that it is not my absolute favourite, because nothing can beat Bon Jovi for me.
But Roxette used to be one my big big favs, unfortunately it has changed a bit now. I really regret they don’t make cool rock music anymore like they used to in the CBB period. More guitars, less keyboards!
Anyway, they still make some good music, that’s true, but I hope they change their style again pretty soon. Anyone else who has the same opinion?

I’m not AS crazy about them as i used to be a few years ago. But then i was an obsessed teanager and now i’m just a well balanced die hard rox-fan. They’re not as good as they used to be. But i will always love them.

I see that most people have a bit of the same opinion here.
Well, it’s the same with me, I’m also still a big fan, but not as big as I used to be. I hope I can get a hold of that new Per Gessle album, cause I liked the solo stuff he did in 97.
No I haven’t heard Little Miss Sorrow, is that a good one?

“good” is not a good word to use for Little Miss Sorrow, “great” is more the word you are looking for.

I was also crazy enough to cry for Roxette. I remember when I saw a clip of Crash!Boom!Bang! on Channel [V] when I was Iran. OH MY GOD! I was crying for hours until I saw the video again! Hahaha! I used to record the videos on tapes! I have tapes, mixed videos by different artists. Every other video is Roxette! For example I have 15 CBBs in one tape! Can you believe it? Anyways…
The reactions have changed now! I am a 23-year old who doesn’t cry for artists anymore. They get the money. Why should I worry whether they make it to #1 or not?
Last night I was listening to Per’s new single, called my mom to check out his new picture and started acting like I did 10 years ago. Hahahah! She called me nuts. I go back to those old days every once in a while. It’s cute/.
I am a die-hard Queen fan as well. I have even met the band and have more Queen stuff than Roxette, clock, mirror, books, magazines, comic books and so on. It still saddens me when I think of Freddie Mercury and I will always be a Queen fan too and Queen is my past as well.
But I guess Roxette is different. It’s just a feeling and that feeling will always be with me. ALWAYS!
Anyways, I will keep on collecting Roxette CDs till I die. Roxette is my past, the past that I am so proud of, the past that will never come back to me with people that are far far away. Roxette will always be my inspiration as I was inspired by them all my teenage years. They say it’s good to have faith in something or someone, for some people God, for another statues. For me, Per was my faith. It might not sound right but he was. I didn’t think of him as some married guy out there whom I could never have. He was just something that existed somewhere on this planet that kept me going, some light that helped me through tough times. So for me, no matter how badly Roxette is doing right now, I will buy their stuff (PS. I am not some prejudice Roxette fan who denies there are better bands than roxette and that everything about Roxette is the best). Spending my time, Fading Like a Flower, Listen to your Heart, Things will never be the same, So far away, Never is a long time will always be Spending my time, Fading Like a Flower, Listen to your Heart, Things will never be the same, So far away, Never is a long time for me. I will grow old with these songs and when I die, I will take them to grave with me.

You should listen to Little Miss Sorrow. that song is amazing!

Actually, Matthias, I disagree. Rox has only changed for the better. They evolved!! It’s a smooth evolution, not a harsh style change, plus Per is still an amazing songwriter!!
And hey, Per rocks still, as per JA, SDLHA, TWATG, ON and LMS. And yes, HAND and RS have it’s heavy dose of guitars. Yes, those CDs have lots of keyboards, but so did the “Look Sharp” and “Pearls Of Passion” CDs from their early days.
Again, welcome to the boards!!

As for me - I just listen to Roxette, never mind any changes and don’t pay any attention to “how many guitars”, “wuz marie naked”, “what’s the worst ever song”, “had they fuckin’ gone pops” and all of the kinda crap. Isn’t that easier just to accept what they try to give?
I’ve been a rox-fan since I was 8, but I was never crazy about them, never even bought a licensed CD (piracy rules - $1.5 per CD without a booklet, $2.5 per CD with one; I even bought their DVD for $5). I’m afraid, all that I’ve ever paid them was the ticket price for the Moscow Room Service concert. That was surely worth it.
Wish I’d meet Per someday. Not to bother him about his glamour and all, but just to talk - I’ve got quite a few things to discuss with him.
My favourite album was always “Pearls of Passion”, but there’s not a single song, which I don’t like. Roxette lives, Roxette ROX. Guess I’ve told all I had to say...

Well I bought all of their albums, loads of singles and some bootlegs too. It’s true that the first albums had more keyboards as well but I still think it’s different. I don’t dislike their latest two albums but I don’t have the same feeling about them anymore. I became a fan of Roxette just a few weeks before CBB was released and when I heard it I was totally over the moon, it was splendid! My father also liked it very much, I even went to the concert in Belgium with him in ’94. We were both stunned.
Anyway, my dad died a few years ago, I wonder what he would have thought about the other albums. But I do miss something in these two albums... I even found The World According to Gessle better.
So DON’t think that I absolutely hate HAND or RS, I just think they can do better.

Oh yes I do agree with you, but it is all about priorities, now their #1 priority is their own family, those joyride days were amazing but I don’t think they could do it again...

I agree with you matthias rox... and btw, for me, Bon Jovi comes as second one.

I guess since many of us grew up listening to Roxette, it’s quite hard to give up. They became a part of our past, so they are not just a band that we like - in some way, we’re build by them...I mean our personalities are shaped a little bit by them, because - as teenagers - we’re kind of “mad” fans...I’m 24 now and I’m pretty calm, but can’t stop paying attention to Rox. I suppose it’s like paying attention to myself.
I know every single smile of Marie and every single gesture of Per - I gathered thousands of images in my head - from Silver Blue and some tour-images in 1988, to the last ones...
When Marie got sick, it was awful...Like another teenage crisis...Not because she was some sort of character in my head, but because a part of my world has fallen down.
So, we are not just “fans”, we are those who are interested in Roxette as if one is interested in brothers and sisters and parents...And when I look at my Rox collection is like seeing all my childhood and teenage experiences all at once.
