...then listen to Good Charlotte’s cd “The Young & The Hopeless”...
Now THAT’S what I call real power pop tunes !!

I love Good Charlotte

Sorry, Good Charlotte is NOT REAL powerpop!! Nope, they are generic mall pop/punk, no better than Blink 182.

You want REAL powerpop, besides Roxette and Per’s solo work + GT?? These are some bands/artists for you all to research, investigate, buy and study: ready???

Rick Springfield, Badfinger, Cheap Trick, Jellyfish, The Posies, Big Star, Adam Schmitt, Shoes, The Knack, The Raspberries, Todd Rundgren, The Nazz, The Rubinoos, The Romantics, 20/20, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Move, ELO, The Lolas, The Merrymakers, Puffy AmiYumi, Redd Kross, The Wildhearts, Letters To Cleo, The Muffs, The Small Faces, The (Paul Collins) Beat, Marshall Crenshaw, Richard X Heyman, The Bongos, Swirl 360, The DMZ, The Shazam, The Rooks, The Grip Weeds, This Perfect Day, OK Go, The Ramones, Semisonic, XTC, Owsley, The Bangles, The GoGo’s, Weezer, All American Rejects, Emitt Rhodes, The Hudson Brothers, The Flamin’ Groovies, Candy, Kyle Vincent, The Bay City Rollers, Dwight Twilley, Tom Petty, Squeeze, The Records, The Plimsouls, Matthew Sweet, Fountains Of Wayne, Enuff Znuff, and many more.

THAT’s POWERPOP, not Good Charlotte, sorry...

i agree the good charlotte album is one of the best albums ive ever bought... every song is brilliant!

I like Rick Springfield´s Celebrate Youth. Does he still tour?

yes good charlotte is not a power pop band, but i like them coz green day is still one of my favourites, and they are playing similiar music. and yes, they are way better than blink182!

btw if you like them or green day, try these bands: new found glory or sugarcult. sugarcults some songs are just like gd... eg. bouncing off the walls. check it out ! :)

a closet case band :)

powerpoplarry has a really good taste for music! :)

OK, boykie, your taste, but sorry, Good Charlotte is trying to be powerpop, but they are just generic, sub Green Day, aka mall pop/punk.

Storm, YEPPERS, Rick Springfield tours every year, he came back to music in a big way in 1997 or 1998, after a 10 year break. His first album in 10 years, 1999’s “Karma”, is flat-out BRILLIANT, and yep, “Celebrate Youth” is one of my faves too. I met him once too, in 1999, hard to believe the guy is 54!!

I think ALL Roxette fans would love Rick’s tunage, his stuff has the same appeal, and Rick is as much of an underrated pop genius as Per is. Dontcha think???

Jack, New Found Glory are not my thing, but I kinda do like Sugarcult. That “Bouncing Off The Walls” song is pretty cool. Thanxx KixGuy!!

Two other bands I love: SUGARBOMB (Their “Bully” record is a total instant powerpop CLASSIC), and my latest discovery: Boston band DAMONE!! Wow, their debut album, “From The Attic”, on RCA, is a gem, somewhere between Cheap Trick, Letters To Cleo, and Josie + The Pussycats!! Short album, 11 songs, 30 minutes, but it’s all killer, no filler, but they are awesome!! Noelle is a cool frontwoman!!

Powerpoplarry is THE expert on powerpop!
