Q magazine didn´t like TBH :(

British Q mag, newest issue.

ROXETTE: THE BALLAD HITS

SPIKY-HAIRED SCANDINAVIANS BLEED LOVE DRY

Thanks to It Must Have Been Love, Roxette will forever epitomise soft-rock heartache.
Yet, despite 15 years´ worth of quivering, there´s precious little other weepy chick flick magic here. Presumably, they preferred their pop perkier, as overall it sounds as if the only thing driving them to tears is suffocating boredom.

Storm´s comments: by the way everytime British or American media person talks about Roxette, Abba or Ace Of Base, why they always have to mention Sweden/Scandinavia?! lol

inconsequential now anyway! but bugger ’em!

What a “pitty”...

I think they mention Scandinavia not to get involved, just in case someone thought these bands were British :D Or to show off they know something about them (though they don’t know anything else).

q magazine is a joke they celebrate crap like coldplay and radiohead...oh yeah thats REAL taste lol

it must be the crack

Is it just me or does anyone else think that reviewing Greatest Hits albums is pretty stupid?

It’s not very clever releasing 5 compilations either...

agreed

5?

actually, 6:

- don’t bore us (1995)
- don’t bore us (US)
- greatest (Japan)
- Balladas en espanol
- TBH
- TPH

:-P

and whats your fav, bunny? :D

1995 compilation :-)

Wierd I nrecent years at leats since TWATG Q has given Roxette good reviews.

Dave

Oh well, what can you do?? Um, yes, 5 collections were released, but I wouldn’t count “Baladas” as one cuz it’s not like these Spanish tracks were spread out all over the place, ya know?? At first, in 1995, “Don’t Bore Us” was perfect, but now, it feels incomplete + behind. I prefer the 2 new collections, TPH + TBH, as they’re fully up-to-date, remastered, and show scenes from their videos + cool liner notes. Yes, I know it’s missing SDLHA and IDWGH, but overall, the collections are missing 14 songs total. I am making a coupla discs of those remaining songs, including SDLHA + IDWGH, splitting them evenly between ballads and pop tunes. My fave comp is by far, TPH!!!

Q magazine..... who???

Must be the reviewer that doesn’t like rox - the review for HAND was quite good and even some of the others i think.

Also, they may have released 6 compilations but DBUGTTC (95, Japan & US ver.) were basically the same just for different countries and TPH & TBH are (to me anyway) a set. Baladas en espanol i would just call a bonus! thats how i see it anyway :)

Actually, they have released 50 compilations

dbugttc UK
dbugttc Ger
dbugttc holland
dbugttc japan
dbugttc italy.....
etc etc

if you count dbugttc US a a compilation on its own then you have to count all the editions released all over the world. Dbugttc95 and Dbugttc US IIISSSS the same album, but different edition. When will you get it>??

The problem here is: Do british people give attention to magazine critics?

I think that Per just releases these Compilation to fulfill his contract with fucking EMI. They want Per to release new CD’s so he gives them 6 best of´compilations! I’ve been fan since 1991 joyride came out and never thought that times will be that hard for rox-fans. Per should get back to music like C!B!B! or Tourism which both had great moments. HAND and RS isn’t really roxette, it sounds like a bad copy. ATAY is the best song i heard for a long time. I hope Per’s new solo-album is more creative then roxette was! I still keep on buyin new stuff by per!

Well, MadTom, there’s an old saying here in Brazil, that says...a fish dies though its mouth. It means, what you say can turn against you, too.

I was always creative in my teenage...I liked to write theather acts (very foolish, of course, just for fun) and drawn carachters I created...but I never decreased the value of something less cool I created...it was a kinda of creative superstition.

When I first read Per saying that ’Roxette-parody’ thing about the excellent ’Almost Unreal’ I found it too nasty and arrogant it a way...I thought “well, he seems confident to really get some better cards in the sleeve.” Hmmm...never despise your ugly children...they can get single the whole life long and sleep in that same bedroom forever (hmmm...I’m sounding too dramatic today)...

@ coyboyusa: coldplay is crap??? can you explain me why?

Exactly Matts. Who doesn´t like Coldplay? I think they´re great! Well, just my opinion...

I’m a critic. Now kill me!

I’ve never had to review a Roxette album, though.

@ suburber: i totally agree, one of the best cds I’ve heard for a long time.

Hey Matts, you´re welcome!
