Sad but true.
Good news on my part, however. ’The Ballad Hits’ has been popping up in quite a few stores in my area. This evening I was browsing through the music section where I work - that is, Meijer here in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. I picked out a couple of CD singles and thought...maybe they got ’The Ballad Hits’ in stock this week! So I looked over in the ’R’ section and no Roxette to be found. Of course I wasn’t surprised! Nothing new. Anyhow, I was walking along and looked at the singles section again to see if there was anything else I wanted (I guess I was just shocked to see some new single releases since the singles market here is dead). I just happened to glance down briefly and there it was! The heart full of raspberries! I couldn’t believe it! It wasn’t even in the damn ’R’ section - more like in the ’W’ section or so. But it was right out in front row! It was $13.88! I *almost* bought it, but I think I’ll buy it when a few more people can see me buy it and maybe I can spark some interest. So this could have very well been the problem all along. It could have been stocked (well, only if it was one copy) but it was just not in the right section because it was misplaced. I of course put it back in the ’R’ section but not in the back of the shuffle of CDs but rather in front so it will grab attention. ;)

Um, I don’t believe it sold very well here in the US, so yep, very bad. But whattaya expect?? It’s not being promoted, there’s no proper placement in stores, and it came out the same day as Madonna’s “American Life”. Of course it will get lost in the shuffle and basically die here. Face facts, Americans don’t appreciate good pop/powerpop music, just pathetic crap they play on the radio and brainwash people in the process. Most Americans are mindless idiots who don’t think for themselves.
