What Album(s) Do You Recommend?
MrBond said on April 23, 2003 22:00:
I was a big Roxette fan in the early nineties, but have only recently had a renewed interest in the band. I currently have The Look, Joyride, Don’t Bore Us..., The Pop Hits and The Ballad Hits. What other Roxette albums (or particular songs) would you consider a “must have”? Thanks.

LS! Was my fav still is... Mainly because it has a sentimental value. It was the 1st CD I bought with my own money! ^_^ *sniff, sobs*

If you can get it:
- Pearls of Passion
- Room Service
- Tourism!
- Crash! Boom! Bang!
- Have A Nice Day (HAND)
These are the albums missing in your collection.
I can also recommend “The World According To Gessle”, a solo-cd by Per Gessle.

I had not initially planned to buy every Roxette album, but based on your responses, I now will.
So, I went to HMV yesterday and bought Room Service (which was the last Roxette album they had in stock besides The Pop Hits). I then ordered the other albums I was missing, except Tourism, which has apparently been “discontinued”.

CRASH BOOM BANG - cause in this period roxette had their perfect music style
HAVE A NICE DAY - cause this is roxette’s most innovative album
THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GESSLE - pure power pop but marie is missing (of course)

@MrBond:
If you were a fan of Roxette in the early nineties, then you absolutely must get TOURISM!!! It is an awesome album - as good as Joyride and Look Sharp! These three albums are the ’classic’ Roxette sound. From the Crash Boom Bang album onwards, the band has changed their sound on almost every album. I don’t believe that Tourism has been discontinued, it sold like 5 or 6 million copies or something so that is not an album that would easily be discontinued. Try order from another music store, or even better - buy it off the web at www.amazon.com or www.amazon.co.uk.
YOU NEED THIS ALBUM!!!!!! :)
I would trade in HAND, Room Service, and C!B!B! for TOURISM anyday! Come on guys! I don’t here anyone rooting enough for Tourism here! Have you all forgotten “Fingertips”, “Here comes the Weekend”, “Queen of Rain”, and...”SILVERBLUE”!!!
come on, whats wrong with you guys! :D
Don’t forget to buy Roxette’s DVD “All videos ever made and more”. It has 40 music videos, 2 documentaries, and rare video clips.
happy shopping :D
MrBond said on April 25, 2003 22:36:
You needn’t worry Rox_me_like_a_baby; I went to a different music store on my lunch break and found Tourism for $11, which is about half of what HMV would have charged, had they been able to order it for me. So, it’s all good.
As for the Roxette DVD, do you know if I will be able to successfully play it on my dvd player and/or my PC? (I live in Canada). Also, would Amazon.co.uk be the best place from which to order the dvd ? (I have never ordered anything through the internet before, so I don’t really know which companies are best for price, dependablity). Thanks.

@MrBond
You will be able to play it on your PC DVD-ROM drive for sure, but you will only be able to play it through your normal TV if your TV supports a PAL signal (check your TV manual - I’m not sure what signal Canadian TV’s use). As for Amazon, it is the world’s biggest online store. Millions of people order from them on a daily basis. I have ordered hundreds of items from them and haven’t had any problems at all. As far as price and dependablity is concerned, they are king! Shopping at Amazon is completely safe (they also have a 100% safety guarantee - read it on their website). Here are some replies I posted to someone else a few months back who was asking about the DVD. I have copied and pasted them below. Hope this helps :)
...Roxette has a DVD out called “Roxette: all Music videos ever made and more”. It has over 40 music videos on it! (more proof of roxette’s staying power) and two excellent documentaries on Roxette called “The making of Joyride” (how they made that album), and “Really Roxette” (about the tour in ’94). All my American friends bought it over the internet at “www.amazon.co.uk” (they only sell it at the UK site). It is worth buying a DVD player for! If you don’t have DVD, buy a DVD-ROM for your computer (That’s what I have - they are dirt cheap these days). No one I know who has the Roxette DVD is disappointed.
...Region codes on DVDs only apply to films, NOT - I repeat - NOT to music DVD’s. Music DVDs (like Roxette’s) have NO region codes - so you can watch them on any DVD player in the world. Go to “www.amazon.co.uk” and do a search for ’roxette’ in the DVD section of the site. Now when the page comes up with the roxette DVD info - look at the part where it says “Edition Details”. You will see that it says ’Region 0’ - which means you can use it on any DVD player in the world. HOWEVER there is one slight problem - since american TVs use an NTSC signal (unlike most of the rest of the world, which uses a PAL signal), you will only be able to play the DVD with a DVD-ROM drive on your computer (so you will watch the DVD with your computer monitor, which is completely different and doesn’t use NTSC or PAL). So yes, as I said before, my American friends all bought their copies from the UK amazon site, but they can only watch it on their computers - which still rocks(that’s what I do, even though it works on my TV(I don’t live in the US). Now go and get it!!! Don’t just sit there, get clicking! ;)
MrBond said on April 26, 2003 21:42:
@Rox_me_like_a_baby
Thanks for the info. Canada uses NTSC, but I have a dvd drive for my pc, so I should be good to go.
Now all I have to do is wait for the arrival of the cd’s and dvd that I ordered and my collection should be complete. (Well, not quite; I don’t have Rarities, or Balads En Espanol.)

what the hell are you people on here? POP, RS - WHAT??? Those albums are extremely mediocre!
The best Roxette albums are:
LS!
Joyride
Tourism
Crash! Boom! Bang!
Have A Nice Day
Those are the esential albums! Anything else would be a waste of money - for now, figure out if you want to become a Rox fan again, and then buy teh rest
Shame on the rest of you for misleading him!
