Hi
I just download the ASF file from Roxytes (the ISDN stream). I am looking for a way of converting the file, so that I can forward/rewind it as I am watching. I don’t want to start from the beginning each time I watch the concert.
I have download several tools to do this, but none seem to accept this particular ASF file.
I am using Windows ME.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Don’t using default Windows Media Player version 7 or later!
With Windows Media Player 6.4 (included in Windows 2000 and XP too) you can look concert from any navigation slider point.
For launching WMP6.4:
Start -> Run -> mplayer2

Thank you both for your suggestions. Unfortunately I still can’t get the slider to work.
I download EO, but it won’t play the file at all.
The previous version of Media Player (mplayer2) plays the file, but still won’t let me use the slider.
Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Convert it with Windows Media Encoder, a free tool from Microsoft. It can convert the asf file to wmv - the quality and the size will remain the same (of course if you leave the original quality), but you’ll be able to directly play any part of the recording.

You can convert the file with TMPGE Pro, to VCD or SVCD format. Or even MPEG2 for DVD if you want to.

Try ASFTools from http://www.geocities.com/myasftools/ and use “Make seekable” or “Enable seek”/”Set seekable” under “Advanced repair” - that should work! Maybe not when you use it only once, but it will eventually ;-)

hi!
i use the TMEPG encoder to made a VCD(2 cd) the problem was that the stream didn’t capture the image well during some minuts of concert(the look song for example) then when i wacth the VCD on my DVD player the voice and sound is so fast than the image(the is slow) the problem be the same when i play with the media player .i think that the mpeg encodec don’t work so well.i someone can convert the concert without this problem please tell me how you did....if i’ve got the concert in anohter type of file i can use the mpegencode better..then i can watch the VCD well on my TV.

Try eo-video. It works with almost all types of video files.
