STARS...love it or hate it?
gessleism said on April 11, 2003 10:35:
In the TPH booklet you can read... “STARS -love it or hate it- SONG”
So, what do you think????
I LOVE IT!!!!.... It was totally different to the “Roxette sound” and however, it sounds great...

Almighty did a great job with “Stars”...
They made Roxette big in gay discos... not a small feat !!

I think it’s OK. I’d like to hear the guitar based power-pop demo though.

I love it... but I happen to love the other 14 songs on TPH more! - Rich-UK

I really hate this song. It’s a shame they made this song and they released it as a single ?!?!?. It’s also a shame this stupid dance tune is included on TPH while some other great rox-sounding powerpop songs with some nice guitars like “Fireworks” and “SDLHA” are not. How can Per hate “Fireworks” and love “Stars”. This song is just to easy and SO NOT ROXETTE.

Hmm...From those options I choose ’loving it’. In fact, I just like it. ;)

Hate it (Well, not really hate, but it isn’t really one of my favourites...!)
Sascha said on April 11, 2003 20:52:
*LOVE* it! All that weird sounds combined with a children choir - pure fun, pure Roxette! But the almighty version is just mainstream dance.

I think it’s absolutely brilliant - one of the best tracks off the HAND album
Mfan28179-Jason said on April 12, 2003 03:27:
Love it.
Question though...Unless you are referring to the children’s choir, exactly how is “Stars” not Roxette? I don’t think “Stars” is the first dance tune they’ve put out.

Hej
Oh boy, I just can’t describe only with words how much I HATE this song !! Grrrrrr... everytime I listen to this song I just want to rip off my arm just to have something to throw in the stereo.
It’s a SHAME !! It’s one of the worst things I ever heard (And I’m not talking only about Roxette’s songs)
Blaaaarrgh !!
All the best

Oh Gosh, “Stars”??? F*CKING LOVE IT!!! It’s brilliant and bright, just like all other upbeat Rox tunes (I’d love to hear that powerpop demo though), but the production is really amazing. I love good song-based dance tunes, and “Stars” is an ace in the hole. The children’s choir is a heavenly touch, and the video is original, daft, funny and touching, love those ducks!! If released in the US as a single, it woulda been huge, cuz like “The Look”, the tune stands out like a sore thumb, in a great way. I understand how it polarizes people though; I’m on the love side...

Hmmmm....... I think I don’t love it but I like it. THE VIDEO IS DAMN STUPID!!!
powerpoplarry said on April 12, 2003 08:30:
Mimi, watch it again. At first, I didn’t “get” it either, but after a few times, the meaning sneaks up on you...very original clip, in my book, could be a movie!!
marcusvandeursen said on April 12, 2003 12:03:
LOVE IT!! IT’S DEFINITELY AMONG THEIR BEST SONGS EVER
marcusvandeursen said on April 12, 2003 12:04:
if not THE best uptempo one... except for Crush On You
eva_roxer said on April 12, 2003 12:35:
I don’t like it at all.
It’s against Rox’s style.
I miss the guitars there...as in almost all songs from the HND album :_(

L*O*V*E it... it’s fun, like “The Look” and “Fireworks”... I don’t understand why so many people have problems with this song, Marie delivers one of her best vocal performances ever in the chorus... the fact that there’s a children’s choir makes it unmistakeably Roxette, it was the perfect way for Roxette to prove that they hadn’t grown up too much and haven’t started taking themselves too seriously.
coyboyusa said on April 12, 2003 20:43:
underrated...how is it not roxette its simple and danceable like all their best tunes...and i think its the onyl song they have ever done that they can perform in a variety of styles...acoutic ballad, rock, dance, etc
Mfan28179-Jason said on April 13, 2003 03:05:
In my opinion, there are a lot of songs on “Pearls Of Passion” that I would consider “dance tunes.” Then throw in “Dance Passion” - yeah, even has “dance” in the title.
I just don’t understand the “it’s not Roxette” comments. Of course it’s Roxette. They recorded it. I do believe they are free to experiment and record “dance” music as well. :)
gyllene_tjej said on April 13, 2003 16:34:
skip the childrens choir and then i will love to like this song :)

I don’t love Stars but I don’t hate it too.
Remix without children choir sounds better than original. My favourite version - live ballad, this only one I LOVE.
harriej said on April 13, 2003 21:21:
I certainly don’t hate it.
Love it is a big word (or 2 words), but I like it.
It is one of the better songs on HAND, but there are better Roxette-tracks.
m-cvk said on April 14, 2003 16:34:
I like it, because it gives me energy. I only don’t really like the children in it and I really love the live version (as well the ballad version - like they played it during the showcases- as the version played during the RStour).

Of course Roxette recorded this song. That’s not what the “it’s not roxette” comment’s about. It’s about not recognising Rox’ style in the song, just be honest: If you should’ve heard the song for the first time and you’d hear it without any vocals, would you recognise their style, i bet you’d think it’s another disco/techno track from some danceproject. IT’S JUST NOT ROXETTE. It’s a nice (but failed) try to be hip and modern witch isn’t right. And I don’t think you can compare this kind of dance to what they did on “Pearls” or “LS”. Those songs still have some grove, some guitars and some recognisable roxette sound.
yellowtigger said on April 16, 2003 07:21:
Is a really good song, but not the tipical song for Roxette. I would like to listen to the demo guitar version...im think that would be different and better....
But is a good song, and Marie sing strong like old times!!

I really love it. It’s a pity though they took the Almighty version as a single.
