TPH just #16 in Sweden...

Okay, who still dares to say that this Rox period is not the worst ever - judging by sales & charts?
rox-kuryliw said on April 4, 2003 19:16:
its very understanding you must say with marie ill, per is not just roxette its both , so no wonder the record is doing bad, its gonna be like a fire, its gonna burn brighter .
bunny said on April 4, 2003 21:48:
i agree. i think this is an indication that people miss Marie’s voice
coyboyusa said on April 4, 2003 22:18:
well its also proof you can’t launch an album and not have anyone promote it... per dropped the ball on pop hits severely
boykie19 said on April 5, 2003 10:19:
umm how can u say that chart result is bad?? there has been no promotion at all!!! thats fuckin good... for a cd just appearing in shops an gettin 2 # 16!!!
im sure roxette r really surprised with how well it has done!!
rox-kuryliw said on April 5, 2003 11:06:
they cant promote with one person, Roxette are a group. and will always be a duo.
mariok said on April 5, 2003 11:46:
I must say that I’m not surprised anymore with this f****** Greatest Hits things... ON and also LMS are both great songs! It would have been much better if they had put the new songs from TPH and TBH together with a few other new ones, and made a NEW Roxette CD. All the old stuff is good, but also I (as a big fan) buy it only cause I wanna have everything from Roxette. Most people are NOT interested in buying always the same songs.... I hope that LMS goes well if it became the next single (????) because I love this song!!! For me this CDs seems to be published ONLY for making money with good old times... Wanna know who had such a bad idea. Fans are going to feel cheated!

I like the idea of these compilations, especially for the new tracks and the remastered material. However, I think it would have also been nice for EMI/Capitol to reissue their back catalogue digitally remastered in a box set perhaps - and then later individually - with bonus tracks and material (like they did with Marie’s solo material). That would have been a better move, in my opinion, and gave fans an opportunity to buy better quality material with extra materials.
powerpoplarry said on April 6, 2003 07:36:
I agree, but maybe these collections are a kickoff to a whole reissue/remaster program by Capitol/EMI, who might then, yes, reissue all the albums with B-sides/unreleased tunes as bonus tracks?? I hope this is the case...as per Marie’s solo work and GT’s??
Capitol/EMI could do what Rhino did with Elvis Costello’s catalogue: reissue all the albums as 2CD sets: the original album remastered on CD1, and have a slew of bonus material on CD2, full lyrics, restored artwork, unpublished photos, and liner notes/essays by respected writers with Per + Marie contributing thoughts and anecdotes?? I’m SURE there is enough bonus material per album to fill a second disc, plus demos from Per’s vault?? Can DEFINITELY be accomplished!! How about it Capitol/EMI???????? You can do it!!!
bunny said on April 6, 2003 08:00:
i think this shows that most people in sweden have most of roxette’s old songs and they are possibly just downloading the new ones from the net :-(
animalkingdom said on April 6, 2003 14:13:
@ bunny
I think the same goes for other countries, too...
In Germany it’s 22nd, in Denmark 35th, in Spain 29th and in Italy, Norway or Finland it isn’t even charting. :(

Even Per himself said this was going to be a “quiet time” for Roxette. They cant go out on the “circuit” promoting and making appearances. So considering that, I think the records and singles are doing quite well. Just the fact that they are going Top 40 is proof that Roxette will always have a strong fanbase. Secondly, they went to #11 in the UK with NO PROMOTION. Imagine if Per and Marie went over there? I dont think its a bad time for Roxette at all. Its a whole different time now. They’ll be back at the top, once Marie is feeling 100% I’m sure she is going to want to a BIG ENTRANCE, and she will. We all know that. Marie is getting better, and as long as she has her health, im sure she is going to come back with a BANG.
animalkingdom said on April 6, 2003 15:16:
@ mikeyt
They went to the UK top-20 because of the TV advertising!
There’s no denial, PR brings on the money!
boykie19 said on April 6, 2003 15:31:
PR doesnt always bring the money... there sum bands who do performances an interviews an dont even do as well as roxette... with no promotion
this is a gr8 time for roxette!

animalkingdom: You´re wrong about Pop Hits not charting in Norway. The Pop Hits is at nr. 40 (bad, I know) but at least it´s on the chart and I´m sure it will reach a higher number next week (like 39) (just kidding).
animalkingdom said on April 6, 2003 17:55:
Roxoholic, yes, I just realized it myself while surfing on the chart sites...Thanks anyway!

Hmm, any link(s) you could share?... Would very much appreciate, thanx. :)

They’re just pretty much all over the place...
www.lanet.lv/misc/charts has lots of them but they tend to keep up with many not very important countdowns, too. Check it out, anyway!
Also www.top40-charts.com is somewhat decent.
Roxoholic said on April 8, 2003 21:24:
The Pop Hits is at nr. 18 this week, up from last weeks nr. 40 on the norwegian chart. Good news, isn´t it?
s-czopek said on April 10, 2003 11:45:
“The Ballad Hits” + Valentine’s Day + TV ad = #11 in UK.
If it’s ever released in UK, “The Pop Hits” probably won’t even enter Top 50.
roxtexanet said on April 4, 2003 16:00:
Now that the TV ads are (finally) out, maybe the CD will make a big jump next week. Something’s gone wrong in any case... the fact that some fans had difficulty even FINDING the CD in Sweden is a clear indication of that.
