Today I had to go to the pharmacy to get the Rolled Gauze and Cloth Tape for my smashed/crushed/injured bloody knee! I was limping and had tears in my eyes as I was looking for the damn thing with all these sad/mad mixed feelings when they started playing Roxette-The Look after some new band song. I felt alive singing to the song as I was looking for my medicine through different isles. It was amazing hearing a Roxette song in the pharmacy after such a long absence from the radios. It was unfortunate to hear The Look and not ATAY or ON though. But still! Roxette is Roxette :D.
Last time this happened was in a Mexican restaurant in San Diego, California where they played the Spanish version of I Don’t Want To Get Hurt. It was such good feeling.

Isn’t that odd though? Pharmacy is the last place I would expect to hear Roxette :D. I should follow up who the owner of Safeway/Albertsons is to have a little talk with him/her :D.
Run to You or What’s She Like are even more odd to be heart in a store. The Look was big back when it was released. I don’t think the Spanish version of I Don’t Want to Get Hurt or What’s She Like were big at all.

Go to the pharmacies frequently! Pharmacy is actually cool place :) There’s no totally music in russian pharmacies :(( Thank your knee.

the_phantom_roxer : Albertsons is the American version of Safeway which is Canadian. They are all owned by one person.
I first thought it’s a commercial! I totally didn’t expect to hear it in the pharmacy. It was awkward.
No there’s no Spanish version of What’s She Like. I never said there was.

Publix, our major supermarket here in Miami, commonly plays the Musak (intrumental elevator music type of shit) versions of FLAF, SMT and LTYH
In other stores Burdines (The Florida Store! ;P) I’ve heard “First Girl On The Moon” and also “Go To Sleep” WEIRD to hear them when you are shopping...

Haha yeah! Specially when those 2 were not that big from CBB album! Weird eh?

Apparently, “Favorites From Crash! Boom! Bang!” was licensed as a release for music places such as malls, stores, and so forth (or so I read here...someone can explain). At my place of employment, I quite often hear Go To Sleep (being the most played), Place Your Love, and First Girl On The Moon. I was very lucky a few weeks ago to hear Run To You! I was sitting in the break room dreaming away and suddenly Run To You popped into my head. I kinda hummed along. LOL. Then I realized that it wasn’t just playing in my head but rather playing over the whole store radio! I wanted to jump up and down because for once I actually heard an actual Roxette “single” there! Haha.
Now if we can get Capitol to release more Roxette material to such places as these - like The Ballad Hits. *dreams* ;)

I worked at the GAP 3 years ago and they’d play 1 CD of 12 tracks for each month. Right before xmas, they had Stars in their CD. It was so cool cause HAND wasn’t released in Canada yet. It made me dance in the store. I loved it. Wow. I just remembered :D.

@Damineh: Do you mean that they played the same 12 songs hour after hour, every day, for a whole month?!?!?!?! Thank God one of them was “Stars,” otherwise, I think I’d go crazy! I mean, how many times a day can a person hear Mariah Carey’s “Loverboy” or something before s/he goes insane?! $8 an hour is NOT enough to put up with that kind of torture!!! (-:
I heard “Run to You” in a Swiss Chalet (restaurant) the other day... I always hear great music in that place... one time it was Texas’ “Tell Me The Answer” and another time it was the Indigo Girls’ “Galileo”... wonderful! Stuff you’d never hear on radio... it actually took me a second to figure out that it was “Run To You,” it had been so long since I’d heard it...!
DaminehGessle said on April 1, 2003 05:32:
Yeah they did what you exactly said!!! Haha!
The song “I just can’t get enough” was the most annoying one to hear. Stars was cool though. Made me dance!! And ofcourse noone knew the words. Made me feel cool :D.
Stars could get really big here. They played it on Z95.3 a couple of times and it even entered their competition. I voted my a** off but it got kicked out after a few days. And then it was lost forever.
Where in Canada are you?

We had new club... I think in 2000 0r 2001 use the Almighty Version of Stars in their commercial. The screwy part, I’ve never heard it actually on the radio, just on that commercial. :P

It’s damn cold there. I don’t like Ontario much.

Yeah so pretty much I am in Victoria most of the time but home is Vancouver :D. I will be working in Vancouver on coop this summer. I am excited. My first summer out of school in 4 years!!

Roxette is always played at the shopping malls and supermarkets where I live (New Zealand). Mostly it is The Look, It must have been love and Joyride. They must think that these songs make people buy more!
The weirdest place I’ve heard a roxette song was at the airport departure lounge. They played Wish I could Fly along with a whole lot of other songs about flying!
DaminehGessle said on April 4, 2003 06:37:
antz haha that was funny!
Yeah but to be honest with you, hearing Roxette out there doesn’t satisfy me. I want to be able to go to the music stores, go through the posters and decide on which Roxette poster I want to buy and then realize I want to buy them all at once. Or maybe buy 2 now and get the next one after my next paycheque. I want to be able to go to HMV and grab my New Released CD on the release date. Oh I hate North America.
