What does heavy metal fans think about Roxette?

Well, i don’t think any of you remember when i used to said Roxette lost their musical credibility since Baladas en Español or HAND.
I mean, they never been considered as hmmm let’s say “real musicians” by the fans or musicians of “rockier” music, Roxette was just a non prefab band and that’s it, no more... no less.
But they were gaining a good reputation in a really subtle way, CBB was a kind the peak of it... Roxette was begining to be considered a “real band” (just to call it something, and using some words that Roxette said) by the general public.

Well, do you wanna know why i say this?
There’s no other extreme genre as heavy metal, the classic one... the fans of that music allways had a reputation of being closed to that genre and that’s it (i know it’s not very true nowadays).
Well, fans of Stratovarius, a great heavy metal band from Finland were talking about Rox in their forum.
Do you think they said something bad about
them?...
let’s see:

“aaaah i love roxette, well i loved it when i was younger, hehe

there are a lot of songs which kick ass. what about covering roxette?”

“That was my first favourite band before i joined metal 10-12 years ago!
I started with Scorpions, Guns N’Roses, metallica (so long ago....)
(And my only-favourite pop-band)
That was also the time when pop music was also a bit rock music (not like today!!!)
Who knows “Hotblooded”?
The song sounds like Led Zeppelin!”

“Joyride is a kickass album... So many good songs.”

“aaaaah i cant believe that....just like me.
i’ve started with the same bands and roxette was my first favourite band”

“Joyride was one of my first album (my first on tape) and is one of my all-time favourite albums (the only pop album of them). (Look sharp was also great).”

“I have been listening in the past Roxette quite a lot...
So they still mean something to me, tho their latest records different. “

“GO ROXETTE!!!”

So, well..... i´ll talk later.

oh cool site...im listening to their songs right now..great music! remind me of Europe a bit :)

Heavy Metal bands praising Roxette? Is that a joke?
I don’t believe it ... I laugh of it lol
Covering a Roxette song? Uggggg such a massive destruction it would be....

It’ amazing how over these years there are still people convinced that Roxette were a Rock band!
Lots fans keep believing in that ...expect Roxette themselves.... and me lol

Ferdan: “Well, i don’t think any of you remember when i used to said Roxette lost their musical credibility since Baladas en Español or HAND.”
In fact you are constantly saying this, so how could anyone at this forum not know about it?
But it’s nice to be nostalgic everynow and then!

I was just yesterday listening Stratovarius live in the town I live nowadays. The concert was really great. I used to listen to their music before I discovered Roxette.:) And I still do sometimes.. so it’s not a miracle if heavy metal-people like Rox-music ;)

Ferdan, I remember your old threat, the one you mentioned above. And I never agreed with it. ;-)

Cool... What else can i say... I still believe Roxette is a rock band...
because I understand “pop” to be something else... something absolutely different.

I´ve been a “Metal” fan since 1983, and i´ve been a ROXETTE fan since 1986. I know many people around the world that are big Metal fans, but also really dig ROXETTE! I really don´t like the usual “list” music, but RX have allways been different. Also a HUGE fan of Marie´s solo material.
Have seen RX live 5 times, Marie 4. To compare with the metal shows i´ve seen: SAXON 21 gigs, MOTÖRHEAD 9, MELDRUM 15, and about 300 others.... ROXETTE is a FANTASTIC liveband!!!!!

Yeeah, Roxette is something like rock-pop. The likes of Britney Spears, NSync, Blue, etc go into the pop category of today.

Stratovarius ey? All I can say about that band is that they have terrible English grammar mistakes in their lyrics ;) And I am not talking about slang!

I have a friend who is a metal fan and has been sinice the 80’s.... he like ROXETTE.... mnie you I do make him listen!!

I am a metal fan...actually, I am a metal head. I have the tattoos, peircings, usually wear black about 99.9% of the time, play rock guitar, working on a band... all that fun stuff.

I’ve liked Rox since I was 13, pretty much because I am an 80s freak... I think some of their songs ROCK which is why i was disappointed with HAND, after CBB being such an intense album with so much guitar, I was expecting something like that. Ironically, my fav Rox CD is Look Sharp! which isn’t so rock oriented.

I do listen to the ballads, I think Rox has some ingredible ballads. Musically, I listen to almost anything but I prefer metal and hard rock.

My playlist right now is, Little Miss Sorrow, It Hurts, Linkin’ Park’s somewhere I belong, Disturbed’s Prayer, new band Evanesence’s Bring Me to Life and Tourniquet, Oleander’s Hands off the wheel and that song from Russian band T.A.T.U.
:D

My friends who like metal music respect the roxette music... They hate the pop crap such as Britney or C. Aguilera. Roxette is nice, but they preffer the acoustic ballads..

My friend is heavy metal fan, and he said that roxette is a girl music. gggggrrrrrr

didn’t Great White take care of the last heavy metal fans?

TO sweet_stalker57.

A REALLY STUPID THING TO WRITE!!

That was a really tragic event that shocked all rock/music fans all over the world.

I knew a guy that didn´t make it out, and i´m sure more people on this forum had friends there.

THINK FIRST BEFORE YOU WRITE STUPID THINGS!

I’m also a metal fan : Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, The Killer Dwarfs... I also like some Rammstein.

I love Metallica, Korn, Guns N’ Roses, Placebo, ...
Also I love rock music specialy Bon Jovi....

And I love ROXETTE .... !

Here another heavy metal fan. My favorites are: Savatage and Metal Church.

I don’t think it’s so strange that Stratovarius fans like (or used to like) Roxette, because both bands use strong melodies in their music.

I once heard Helloween covering an Abba song. It sounded fantastic!

Hej Dan, min van!
not making fun of anyone who died, but using pyros in a small club so some washed up band could look cool: Wrong!
truly tragic, my sympathies.
forlat mej?
