You very own first reaction to TRO ...

When you listened to Tro for the very first time it doens’t matter when or how, what was your first reaction to it...in case you still remember

i sat there for a moment and said my god marie has such a great soul to perform and record music with this much emotional depth ...then i bought the album and was more blown away

whenever i hear her songs... my first reaction is i wish it were in english as sum of them r even better than roxette songs!!!
DaCapo21 said on March 18, 2003 19:16:
Tevensso you’re kidding right? Marie has more ballads than anything but i mean banalizing some of them ain’t a bit unfair?
tevensso (moderator) said on March 18, 2003 19:23:
I’m not banalizing them, but being Swedish it’s a bit hard taking all her ballads seriously after a while. I mean seriously, how can everything be so bad in her life?? (According to her lyrics.) And like you say, she has a ton. Need I say my favorite Marie-song is probably Silver i din hand or something similar.

byr maybe it can be the same problem but written differently....
marcusvandeursen said on March 18, 2003 20:08:
actually prefer Marie’s music above Roxette lately... probably because
1 the lyrics have more depth
2 it’s more back to basic, not being overproduced
3 a beautiful voice of course
only bad point...
1 noone around to share your taste with as it’s all in Swedish

tevensso let marie express her (bad) feelings out if she feels like that.
rox-kuryliw said on March 18, 2003 21:18:
i got goose bumps, i love it, so emotinal, and i dont even understand what she said lol
gyllene_tjej said on March 18, 2003 21:24:
haha, wasn’t tro supposed to put Marie back on the track and start looking at the bright side?
there was a time I listened to this song every morning before the important exam
tevensso (moderator) said on March 18, 2003 21:53:
I’m not saying Marie can’t do what she wants. I simply answered about my first reaction to hearing “Tro”. Is there a must to love her?
Jackie_Radiorox said on March 18, 2003 23:03:
Nice song... but yea... one too many ballads = Overkill.
On another note, I love some of Marie’s Swedish stuff... it’s very haunting and emotional... but some of the CDs should come with warning labels for the clinically depressed.
felicity-brown said on March 19, 2003 00:45:
btw, “I love this song!” was my first impression :) Is it a must to love Marie? YES, INDEED!!! ;)
DaminehGessle said on March 19, 2003 01:21:
I loved the song even though I don’t know Swedish. I love antligen as well. It’s refreshing. Again, I don’t understand a word :D.

There are better songs in I en tid som var than Tro.
Vinter Angel for example.
And my first reaction when i heard Tro was “Uh, the choir is mixed to low, its volume is too low”
DaCapo21 said on March 20, 2003 11:35:
Once again... technical details above the beauty of eithe melody or lyrics i guess that is really a typical behaviour for musicians or people who know a lot about making music...
Anyway my first impression to “Tro” .... i was silent just went on listening to it over and over again .. it just went straight to me and since yet has never come out ... defitively one of Marie’s best songs. It was with me on a very special journey in my life while I was in Germany 2 years ago so it also has very personal meaning to me...
And yes “Vinterangel” is another great simple touching song ...that piano solo is just beautiful ....
I find “I en tid som vor” and “Mild Warm Vor” also my other 2 big big favorites from tha that same album. Marie at her best musical moment for me...

When I first listened to it, I was at a friends party, and when the song started, everybody went silent and people where like, “Wow, who on earth is that?” They asked me to play it again and again and I had to put it on repeat for the rest of the night. And I am not joking about that, everybody was mad into this song.
As for myself, I thought, time just stoped for the moment I heard the song..

I’m glad I don’t speak swedish! I can listen to Maries songs without wanting to slit my wrists!! Depressing lyrics get to me!!
@tevensso... YOU MUST LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT MARIE!! ;););)
If I could speak swedish, I probably wouldn’t have had the same reaction I first had when I heard ’Tro’. I had shivers down my spine. :)
i_jera said on March 20, 2003 15:39:
as I didn’t understand anything of the lyrics, I thought “Veeery boring”... now it’s different, but I deffinitely can’t listen to this song in repeat mode, no way...

I love Maries music. It´s not depressing me - it helpes me a lot to get along with my life....
Tro is and was breathetaking....
Heart_2002 said on March 22, 2003 11:57:
The piano, the whole arrangements, the choir, the chorus, Marie’s vocals... just a wonderful perfect musical moment!
I actually believe that the drum section on this song influenced the same drum part for Beautiful Things .... You can a lot of Marie’s solo song bits or influences in her Roxette compositions.

my thoughts were: “god, i must learn this song on piano!!!” :-P
