I’ve been a Rox fan for 14 years. I was 11 when I heard dressed for success for the first time. My brother had the Look Sharp album at home because a friend of his gave him the album. But he didn’t like it very much and it was me who couldn’t help listening to it all the time.
Later on I saw the Listen to your heart video. It was when I saw Per and Marie acting for the first time in my life and I realised it was the best pop group. I think it was that moment when I became a fan.

...Mmm..back in the 1989...since “Dressed for Succes” and “Listen to your heart” came close to my ears...Great times!! I was only 12, but I was Rox’s biggest fan!!!
...Since that time I always followed their music in one way or another... (not like crazy, but constantly and very honest...)... even if I live in a country that doesn’t really like Roxette, I could gather some materials...(anyway, even if I don’t have every single piece of paper/wallpaper/record that they ever record, I can say that I heard and seen almost ALL about Roxette and related...
I mean there are some years here and in a way or another I got some opportunities...)

My favourite song from 1989 was always the look. Then I bought “Don’t bore us get to the chorus” in 1995 and realised I knew almost every song... and I liked them all (except You Don’t Understand Me... that I still don’t like). Especially I loved June Afternoon... and I decided to buy the rest of CDs I didn’t have :p
By the way, “don’t bore us” was the first CD I ever bought :)

It were 3 Look Sharp-Songs:

Escpecially Dangerous made me love Roxette.

OK, I discovered Rox when I was in college in 1989, when “The Look” cracked the US Billboard charts and the radio!! Their powerpop sound jumped out at me right away, and when “Look Sharp” had a US release in 1989, that was one of the first 5 CDs I had ever bought!! Along with my first CD player!! I’ve been a devoted follower ever since, even meeting Per 3 times, and Marie twice. The first time I met Per, he was standing all alone, hanging out in the Sam Goody in NYC next door to the building of my workplace, during my lunchbreak!! So just me and Per were talking for a halfhour, and no one was paying attention, or knew who he was!! It was then that I told him how much I enjoyed “Look Sharp”, and how I thought he was a genius songwriter, and he was very humble and thankful!!
I’ve been a devoted, loyal Rox fan all this time since 1989!!

My sister was a huge roxette fan b4 back in the crash boom bang days . And i hate roxette at that time coz I love to annoy her. But It was during 1997 and early 1998 when I’ve gone mad at them since I heard spending my time . And I didn’t know that they were the artist responsible for most of my favourite songs, during my childhood years, like How do you do! and dangerous and I bought their greatest hits and I find out that all of the songs are the best but like santi I didn’t like you don’t undrstand me i’d prefer I don’t wanna get hurt.
And no my sister is not that avid anymore she only become a fan again when she heard A THING ABOUT YOU . And she’s now the one who loves to annoy me saying negative about them . And I hate that

kiwijazza said on March 18, 2003 12:54:
For me it was back in 1993. My mother had this compilation album at the time, The Love Connection, and it had IMHBL on it. It was the first and only item we had with Roxette on it, so I constantly played it. After a while it got worn out. So much, in fact, it’s still stuck in my stereo as I type this!
I can remember hearing some big Roxette singles before ’93, but I never really got into them until we actually had a song in our collection. My first Roxette album was Tourism, that same year. And here I am 10 years later. :)

The Look was played all the time and everywhere there.
Back from vacation I saw the “LTYH”video and fell in love with Roxette :) I was 11 years old then.

At the end of ’91 after having secretly listened to my sister’s “Look Sharp!” CD. I’d heard Rox songs before then and liked them, but not the band as such. Anyway, I wanna kill me sister for not beating me up for touching her album - not putting me off Rox for life!!! ;)

I became a Rox fan in 1995 when i found the album DBUGTTC in a bus that was going from Rio de Janeiro - RJ to Petropolis - RJ, which is a mountain city in Brazil. Fell in love when i listened to the whole album and loved HDYD, LTYH, AU and SIMC. Later on, a couple of years i further fell in love when i listened to their spanish single on the radio in Brazil, even though people in Brazil speak portuguese. Once i got to the US i bought all of their albums. Well, almost all. I still don’t have POP and Ratities.
Later!

When I was younger, I like their songs (LTYH, IMBHL, Dangerous, The Look, SMT, etc.) but I didn’t know they were all Roxette’s.
When I found out those songs are from the same artist, I thought Roxette are really good. So far, I love all of their songs. This was in 1995 (or 96 - can’t remember) when I was 15. So, when they released DBUGTTC; their greatest hits, I went and bought it.
I went and bought their album because of six songs that I like and when I finally got to listen to their entire album I discovered more songs that I like and didn’t know it was theirs. I was also impressed when I found out that they wrote their own stuff. After that, I became a big fan.
But when they didn’t release an album for so long and I haven’t heard much about them here. I wasn’t a big fan as I was.
When I’ve discovered that they’ve relased HAND and then later RS, I didn’t buy it. Because I didn’t care anymore, but deep down I still have great respect for them because they are still together as a band.
But then late last year, I’ve discovered their DVD (all videos ever made..), I bought it because even though I wasn’t a big fan then, I still wanted to watch all their videos, because I didn’t get to see all of them. After watching their videos and discovering their new songs (from HAND and RS albums), I realise I still love their music, and I admire Per and Marie.
So, I became a die-hard fan again and started net-surfing the web about them and I discovered this site.
.....and now I’m back and a big fan of Roxette. Hope I’ll keep on roxing..........
I just realised, there is something about compilation of Roxette materials that made me a fan........ I mean, I became a big fan when I bought their greatest hits CD... and when it cooled off... it took a DVD of all their videos for me to discover them again.
Mind you, the way I discovered the DVD in the stores was by accident... I wasn’t suppose to be there that time (... a long story).

In the look sharp days. Look Sharp was my very first album that I bought with my own money! At that time I only knew Dangerous and Listen to your Heart. I didnt know anything about them, I hadnt even seen their videos. So I used to go to the corner shop and read all the articles about them in the pop magazines....*sigh*...such fond memories!

Wow, I can’t remember this topic ever being discussed (but it probably already has, given how often I log on these days), but let’s see...
I loved them back when they first came out (in the US) with ’The Look’ although I never knew their name. And then with ’Joyride’ and ’It Must Have Been Love’ in ’91. Again I couldn’t remember their name.
It wasn’t until a few years later that a friend gave me his copy of ’Look Sharp!’ and I fell in love with them all over again, and it has continued to this day. I went out after that and bought ’Joyride’ and ’Tourism’ and listened to them until my tape player ate them. :)
Now I’m wearing grooves into my CDs!! :)
Cheers,

erm, i became a fan about 5 months ago when I saw them perform ’the look’ on top of the pops 2. I knew the song and remembered it and bought me back some good memories. I also fell in love with how cute per was so decided to do some research and to try get a pic of him from the net. I suddenly found how amazing this band were and stole my dads rox collection (LS, joyride, CBB and tourism!) and soon became obsessed! I did a speach at school on ’something close to us’ and did rox and found it to be the perfect chance to catch up on them!
But really I have been a fan all my life, I just not known it. My dad always used to play it in the car, when we came home from church and at bedtime etc but then it was just music. now it is my life. :)
