Thanx for the info DaminehGessle - gald to see that I’m not the only Canadian Rox fan here. I take it that neither HAND, RS, or TBH nor any of the singles released ever charted here eh? Know off hand if Pop Hits will be released here and when?

Actually no... I have called Virgin, HMV, a&b Sounds and Music World about the album release and they sorta make the funny noise you know. As if I’m joking! It probably wouldn’t be till late April or even later. I remember HAND was released a few few months later than the other countries.
As for charts... you’re joking eh?! You know what people listen to these days: Eminem, Nelly, Britney, N’SYNC. They wouldn’t even give Roxette a chance. If anyone is a Roxette fan here, he/she’s been a fan for long. As there are no promotions for the albums here in Canada, noone would get to know Roxette. You go to HMV and there’s a broken TBUGTTC CD there which’s been there since Day 1. and it’s also behind Roxy Music so noone would see it.
What I usually do is I put the Roxette CDs up front whenever I go to the record store :D.
Anyways yeah no promotions, no new fans and no charts. That’s how it goes these days. Just look at promotions for Robbie Williams’ album, N’SYNC or other bands... even Rolling Stones do promotions after all these years. I dunno what Roxette record labels are doing these days. Hoping the albums would sell out without promotions and even having the records out :).

That’s too bad, I don’t think I’ve seen any videos since “Sleeping in my Car”. Are there any sources available which confirm Canadian chart placings of their earlier work? I now live in Toronto - although for the last few years I’ve been overseas. How about yourself - in which part of this beautiful country do you reside?

Here are the answers to your comments storm :):
“I Asked for ATAY and the guy laughed at me”
lol
- They honestly did!!! I asked for the single and the guy laughed!
“WICF was given to me for free”
may I ask why?
- When HAND came out, I’d been to HMV for 2 months before then every day. Anyways when the official release day came out, I was like yey finally! So the day it was released, I was waiting outside HMV an hour before they opened the store. The guy opened a box and gave me my CD :). So 2 weeks later, I was at HMV when I saw the sign beside Roxette Tag that if you buy HAND, you get the WICF single for $5.99. So I went to the guy and told him that I’d bought the CD and he never gave me the WICF deal, the single was never out and I never got the single. He told me that the single has just been provided to them that day and that I could have it for free cause noone would buy it anyways :).
“it’s also behind Roxy Music”
lol lol
- If you go to music stores, Roxette is always before Roxy Music. Virgin has most of the Roxette CDs. I even got my Rarities as an Import from Virgin. So the chance of Roxette hiding behind Roxy Music is low as Roxette has 3 rows of CDs there. On the other hand, in places like HMV, a&b Sounds and Music World, there are not many Roxette CDs. 1-2 maybe! As I said, HMV has had a broken DBUGTTC cd for a few years now and that’s it! So Roxette tag hindes behind Roxy Music’s which is right after. So......
“What I usually do is I put the Roxette CDs up front whenever I go to the record store :D. “
I´m doing that too! :D :D lol
- I put Roxette tag and CDs right in front of the row or up there haha!

Nate:
I am from Vancouver although I go to school in Victoria. I love the West Coast.
Toronto is a better place to find rare CDs and books. I remember 3 years ago I was in Toronto and there were amazing music stores in downtown Toronto where you’d go underground and could find amazing books and rare CDs. I got 2 Queen books which I couldn’t find anywhere. I also bought a Queen Comic Book which was great. Although it worth $3.00CDN back in 1983, I bought it for $30 heh. Yeah so Toronto is a better place to get good stuff.

Hi Nate. There is a source for Canadian single charting information from 1975 to 2000. It’s a book entitled “Top 40 Hits - The Essential Chart Guide” by Nanda Lwin. You should be able to find it in Toronto bookstores and possibly even the public library.
Roxette has 13 singles listed in this book, from “The Look” to “Crash! Boom! Bang!”, 3 of which were #1 hits here in Canada. Of the remaining 9 singles that didn’t reach #1, five were in the top five and another peaked at #9.
All but two radio only singles charted in the top 15.

@robmc
Hi, would you please so kind to write down the mentioned positions and the song? I am not Canadian but I collect charts from every country.
Thanks a lot.
robmc said on March 17, 2003 16:24:
I would need the authors permission to do that. Sorry.
You could always contact the author by email at [email protected].
BTW, Nate, The “Facts And Figures” section of the “Top 40 Hits” book also contains additional Roxette information.

you don’t need the authors permission to mention the chart-positions. Those are just facts, free for use. If i want to write here that the look was #1 in Netherlands, do I have to ask the writers of all music encyclopedias, top40 books etcetera permission to use the numbers they use in their books?

HAND was officially released, later than the rest of the world though!! A few months later!
RS was released officially. As for HAND, later than the rest of the world :).
TBH was released, later and good luck finding it in stores! HMV had 1 copy which they don’t have anymore. I couldn’t find it in Virgin or a&b Sounds.
God knows when they’d release TPH.
Singles... Again good luck finding them. WICF was given to me for free. I haven’t seen any other single been released in BC ever since. I Asked for ATAY and the guy laughed at me. So!
