austrians radios call ON "not strong enough"

i wrote hitradio ö3 our major radio-station here in austria (daily 3 mio. listeners, btw: austria has 8 mio. inhabitants) why they don’t play opportunity nox because they always played roxette - nearly every single through the last 15 years.
they wrote back (the music department) and they are thinking that opportunity nox isn’t a strong song. i can’t believe this statement!! hey ON is full of energy and life! what do they want? now my question: what should we do to get ON on the radio? ufff — everythings is getting more and more problematic with time.
years ago roxette weren’t in magazines but still in charts ...
then roxette weren’t in charts anymore but still played by the radio ...
and now major radio stations in europe don’t want to play new releases of roxette ...
HEY WHAT IS GOING ON ???

hmm – could get worse because they get angry then... and may the stop playing roxette at all!

i think different regions have different tastes in music, maybe austrians are more ballad-proned people

well at least we’re finally getting honest opions from peopel about the song...and why on gods earth is the only person available to promote the song on vacation..maybe i shouldn’t care but is this any way yo launch the pop package?

You see. Now this is the type of article that should be put on the frontpage of TDR. Let everyone know that this is the type of stuff that’s going on...not just articles like “Nox is number 2 in Sweden.”
This way we so both sides of the coin. That way the record company sees this publication and hopefully the Austrian radio station sees the publication and perhaps they can feel a little guilt (which I doubt, but it’s worth a try) about not giving the public what they want.

coyboyusa, I agree. I mean why does he go on holiday if there is a single to be promoted? Doesn’t he care? It’s absolutely ok that Marie is in Thailand or whereever, but Per!? We are voting, writing emails, etc., to hear ON and to make people to get to know the song coz we care about Roxette’s success but nobody else seems to care. Not even Per. If he doesn’t he shouldn’t be surprised if the fans get a bit annoyed!

@ roxfever....(and some other that complain about promotion and vacation and sales and...and...and....).
Why should per not go on vacation?
It has been a very, very hard time for him too! And the least thing you could do, is respect the fact that rox has released songs DESPITE this hard period. But no...you piss per of because YOU want ON to sell well.
I think its a little bit ego-centric.
What would your opinion be if he had not released these gr8test hits...and the singles, but went on vacation instead??
I bet you would have complained also.

Roxette has been a very successful pop group for a very long time. The success of this groups doesn’t last forever an Roxette sales has began to decrease.
It’s normal all that is happening because it’s not the same being 34 or 44, and moreover, Marie’s health is not good.
You shouldn’t care about Roxette’s success. You should be worried about buying new stuff.
Both Per and Marie deserve vacation. I think the Pop Hits is only a compilation!
