SINGLES + VIDEOS...

Quick question, as I now am the proud owner of a copy of the DVD, possibly the only American owner, hehe!! (Or am I??) Just wondering, did Roxette ever release a single that DIDN’T have a video clip filmed?? On the other hand, did they ever shoot a video for a song that never became a single?? I’d like to know these things, as I want to compile a complete singles collection on CD in chronological order, and is the DVD complete when it comes to singles, as I want to use it as a guide, that’s all. I know ATAY and ON are the only videos NOT included, or were there any more?? Thanx very much...the DVD kicks MUCH ass!! :-P

...and the little thing they put together for Silver Blue could also qualify as a non-single video.

Ha haa...I was first! ;)
Anyway, I don’t think No Se Si Es Amor & Soy Una Mujer are real singles...Weren’t they more like radio-only releases?

What’s I want you? Do you mean the I want you with Eva Da(h?)lgren and the other guy. It’s a shame that I don’t konw their names, I know.
Or is a “real” Roxettesong? OMG, if yes I must have missed it. Please not!
animalkingdom said on March 4, 2003 13:07:
Yea, I Want You is by Roxette, Eva Dah(!)lgren and Ratata. To be honest, I don’t think I ever heard it :S

And then off course there were the miracle strange event in South Africa back in 1993 when “Here Comes the Weekend” somehow made it to the major South African Charts! Never know how that happened, but the song actually charted at #4 on the 5FM top 40! CBB only reached #5 a couple of months later!
I don’t think the song charted in any other country, I don’t even know if Per and Marie knows about this surprise chart…amazing if you think there was no video or promotion for the song!
coyboyusa said on March 4, 2003 13:30:
you can’t count itemsa that were only radio promotional items as singles really...
arnie said on March 4, 2003 14:18:
There were NO comercial singles from Baladas en español, only PROMOS for the radios... So they are just radio singles....
Alguien does have a videoclip!
roxtexanet said on March 4, 2003 14:54:
@coyboyusa: By that criterion, the last single released in Canada was “Sleeping In My Car”! For a lot of countries, the only thing that defines a single is whether it was released to radio and video channels or not...
animalkingdom said on March 4, 2003 15:12:
@ roxtexanet
A single is a single no matter where it was released. But a single is NOT a single if it’s only played on the radio. For instance, Billboard Hot 100 of USA is a singles and tracks’ chart where songs may enter without being released as a retail CD.
daniel_alv said on March 4, 2003 15:51:
no, all the songs on tracks in p3 has to be released on single....
roxtexanet said on March 4, 2003 17:00:
@animalkingdom: Again, it just depends on the country... radio stations here (in Canada) always refer to the latest song released to radio as “the new single” or “the third single from the .... album”... that’s what a single *is* in my country because commercial singles are so rare (even imports)... but it’s still a valid concept because not every song from a CD is licensed for airplay, and those that are have to compete with each other for airplay... a huge hit is the song that gets the most radio play NOT the one that has the best single sales... freaking Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind” was the best selling single here every week for over two years!!!! It’s ridiculous to say that that’s the only #1 single there was in Canada in all that time!
powerpoplarry said on March 5, 2003 06:31:
WOAH, thanx for all the info!! I guess, like in Canada, here in the US, very few songs are released as commercial singles. That’s why the Hot 100 counts songs only released to radio, but people here still view those tracks as singles, as they are hits on the radio. Things are different here more now, than in the 70s and 80s, when FM rock radio would play “deep cuts”, AKA other tracks off notable albums. Nowadays, everything played on the radio is considered a single. Only college/public/triple A radio gets adventurous and plays other tracks not necessarily singles, but sometimes they do play the single, or focus cut off a new album of note.
Anyhoo, I have my list for the comp. Dunno that “I Want You” song tho!! ;-)
Now, I am wondering your fave Rox video. Mine is a tie between “June Afternoon”, “Fingertips ’93”, and “Real Sugar”!! “Stars” is a bit daft, but it’s pretty cool once you get the message and “story” being put across.
AND, if anyone knows, what were Rox’s Swedish chart peak positions for all the singles?? I’d love to know!!

AWESOME!!! Just 1 question, “Chances” was never a single?? There was a video and it was on the DVD. Or it was a single and did not chart?? And ON has not peaked yet, just #2 on the radio chart, correct??
What about Marie solo singles?? Per solo, GT, and Lonely Boys singles??
Um, lastly, can you list all the non-album B-sides, not including remixes?? I have some of them, I’d like a full list to use as a guide. Thanks very much, you’re a HUGE help!!

@powepoplarry+animalkingdom, I want you is great! I’m not sure but I think you can download it from www.roxservice.com It’s worth it!
coyboyusa said on March 5, 2003 13:33:
i think you guys are getting confused ..commercial singles are backed by an actual release..manylabels tend to make the releases in short supply...SIMC in the us was only minted I hear around 1000 copies...radio promos are different...spending my time was a single off of baladas in espanol...alguien was promo in latin america
animalkingdom said on March 5, 2003 18:02:
@ powerpoplarry
Chances was released as a single in Europe (at least Germany and France I think, but not in Sweden). Sorry, I have no idea of GT, LB or even Marie’s chart history (well, maybe something blurry about Fredriksson’s singles but nothing accurate...)
animalkingdom said on March 4, 2003 09:45:
ciao, yes, in fact roxette did shoot a video for DO YOU GET EXCITED although it was never released as a single...i believe it was originally meant to be the 5th single off JOYRIDE but as you may know, CHURCH OF YOUR HEART was released instead.
Goodbye To You does not have a video.
