lol, i think MARIE sounds loads better live, its hard singing infront of loads of people, not alot of people can do it at all, marah carey ( doesnt sing live at all very often,) when i have heard her, she sings very graverly .

Sorry darkblade, but you don´t know very much about the music industry and it seems like you´ve never been to a real live concert. No matter in which country do you live; even if you have no chance to attend a Roxette concert you can´t tell something like that about their voices. Their LIVE performance is one of the reasons why they have all the success throughout the years. Even if the success isn´t that big anymore as in the 90ties, but I think they are still a fantastic live band. I´ve seen them a lot of times and was never dissapointed. Here and there Marie forgot the words and maybe sometimes she didn´t reach as high as in the studio song, but who cares, that´s LIVE. If I want to hear the same stuff as on the CD, I´d better stay at home and play the CD instead of going to the concert. Bands who can´t play and sing their songs live won´t survive too long (example Ace of base!), even if their studio productions are great. Jumping/dancing and singing at the same time is not possible; even for Marie. Many other artists do playback and I really appreciate that Roxette aren´t one of those bands. Of course on TV shows it´s playback, but not on the Roxette concerts. Would they have so many people at their concerts if the people would think their voices were poor?

I think it breaks down to exactly what song they are performing/singing. Listen to the most recent example of “Fading Like A Flower (Live From Brussels)” from 2001. I think Marie’s vocal performance is excellent in that song. That’s because it’s a slow, acoustic ballad. It gives her the chance to actually hit the notes and rest, whereas in an upbeat song, they are usually moving around on stage and of course that affects the breathing and vocals.

I totally disagree! I more often than not prefer Marie’s ’live’ voice then the studio one! She has this quality about it that just shines all over, so much heart and emotion! That huskyness and power it’s so much more evident live! Of course she has some shows where she isn’t singing great but that’s what makes a live performance! You never know what u are gonna get!

Listen to ’Soul Deep’ from the Joyride tour or ’Cry’ from the CBB tour and maybe ’Little girl’ from the RS tour and you’ll see why I think she is better live. As for Per well he isn’t a great singer to begin with but I thought he sounded great on the recent RS tour.

thanks for all your insults, i really appreciate them.........u know, i used to live in Peru, and Roxette went there once.......i didn’t have the chance to attend the concert,but i watched it on tv and Marie’s voice was completely dissapointing, pooooooor quality , ugly , thick, and old, i couldn’t believe what i was hearing, she was not the same person i heard on CD, it sounded very old, she didn’t make any effort to sing at least in an acceptable way.......in two songs maybe u could hear a nice voice......and the same goes for Per, and that is true even if they are just standing up, no running and no jumping, u should watch that performance and u will see........ i also watched like three more performances and in those u can find a bit of improvement but the problem still remains.......i have heard other artists live and they sound exactly like the CD, at least u can say their voice is the same quality......

i like roxette a lot , it is my favorite band, but their live performance really disappointed me........

i am sorry to say this, but when Mary sang IT MUST HAVE BEEN LOVE live in Peru, she sounded like a COW.........

I dont think you are a true roxettefan .I think you post this only to get so many replies as possible.

And before you judge Roxette live you should go and see them relly LIVE. I promise you it is a huge diffrence and you most likly wont be dissapointed.
