Second single?

It is not that easy just to release another single from one album, after all, it really is the record company that makes the final decision. I think, if ON kicks Ass there will be a second single for sure. At the moment it looks like ON is going to be a huge flop, even though the song is one of the greatests Roxette have ever done... so a second single doesn’t seem to be likely at all...

i think they should release breathe and little miss sorrow or stupid

A first single isn’t necessarily always the biggest hit off the album...And there are singles released from flopping artists all the time (Ace Of Base, Natalie Imbruglia, David Bowie). Perhaps Per could go on a short promotional tour like he did with TBH.

“Little Miss Sorrow” in June, and then “Breathe” in autumn...

How can you discuss what could be the second single if you didn’t hear the songs yet , or did you ?
animalkingdom said on February 28, 2003 17:32:
@ ttmo
Are there really any choices except to go for LMS? I am quite sure they wouldn’t release anything from some EP! And I believe LMS is the strongest of the new songs because it’s on the actual TPH track list.

Would be nice, but I think if they aren’t going to released Breathe, it might not happen.

@daniel_alv: And how about little miss sorrow and the other trax you DIDN’T hear??????
daniel_alv said on March 1, 2003 00:04:
the only choise beside breathes single is little miss sorrow... they wont make songs from the EP a single.... so, the question is: pop or ballad...

Good thinking here. I like the idea of tying in both compilations as a whole in terms of singles. There’s no reason why both “Breathe” and “Little Miss Sorrow” cannot be future singles, but I’m sure Capitol doesn’t have such plans. :(

I am pretty disappointed with the way ON is going. IT ISSSSSSSS a brilliant song but it is not working!? why!?????????????:@:@

ok whats the big thrill over little miss sorrow if noone has heard it or am I missing something
animalkingdom said on March 1, 2003 18:14:
@ coyboyusa
it’s just about another single (with some goodies:-) and a little boost in the album sales. it’s not about the song, it’s just about another roxette release :-)

It will be difficult to release singles after the album is out as the majority of ppls who will buy them are the ones reading this (and other Rox) sites.

I think it’s good idea, however it might be difficult if Per and aspecialy Marie are not able to do this.
second single means another video and I don’t think Marie feels good enough to work so hard.
If somehow Roxette would decide for second single it would be nice if the video was a good peace of work.I think it should say some story.

this topic is now more up to date than before ... as i told you in a topic, major radio stations don’t want to play ON... for some it’s to wild and noisy, for others it’s not strong enough and some said this song is just a chorus-loop ... over and over. may i must admit that I LOVE OPPORTUNITY NOX (ok, real drums would have been great but you can’t have everything) and i want the pop hits compilation to get successful - because it could be their last album and this cd must do well in charts!
so all in all, a second single (for airplay only maybe) would be a good idea to promote the album!

@ AnimalKingdom - your 2nd reply included Natalie Imbruglia in your list of flopping artists!!!
Last time I checked:
White Lillies Island [the album] spent some 10 weeks in the UK top 40 and went platinum there alone...
That Day spent 7 weeks in Uk top 40 [peaked @ 11]
Wrong Impression - also #11...
Beauty On The Fire - #26
... so what, 1 half-failed single (BOTF was still played on radio)...
Hardly a flop, is she?
Small-talker said on April 2, 2003 10:24:
and BTW... releasing Breathe as a single would be a huge mistake...
It’s not radio-friendly... it sounds like a reject from Room Service and it would instantly flop in the circumstances [I mean, if ON can flop... anything can!]
I think they should rest for a while after TPH... write a lot of excellent material and have Capitol or EMI [whoever they choose] figure out a way to get them on the radio everywhere [including UK]...
I’m not purposely trying to annoy everyone by speaking the truth, it’s just logical and realistic thinking...
Starrox said on April 2, 2003 12:26:
@Small-talker: Well, the UK isn’t the only country where records are released - and if an album sells next to nothing in most of them I think you can safely call it a flop! BTW, I haven’t even heard one of her singles after “Torn” on the radio here in Germany...

As Roxette doesn’t have anything planned for the future after the release of The Pop Hits, maybe they could release another single off the compilation, “Little Miss Sorrow”. What do you think? This time there’s no hurry releasing another album so maybe..
By the way, I still think they could put out “Breathe”. These two CDs (Pops & Ballads) are so called sister albums anyway so why not. It is possible, no matter what Per may think :-)
