Why can't Marie hit the notes live?

Have you guys noticed that when Roxette sings live, they rarely hit the high notes in the songs? They always change the song around so that it doesn’t go that high pitched.

That’s called being smart- So you don’t waste your voice in a few shows and dont be able to continue your tour.
Anyway... if you think what Marie used to sing in the sould deep intro is not high you must be high.

@Ferdan: Maybe... But I think they use lots of studio tricks in their records, that’s why.

eg. in “The Videos” when Marie is recording “Perfect Day” she sings high, but not as high as in the record. They used something to make her sound like Celine Dion.

where we can be sure there’s no studio trick is in the old Strull/mamasbarn live songs, where she sometimes even sings with a lyrical style (ok she screams a bit tho)
without problem. Really high notes and in tune.

Its not that she can’t its coz she has more than one show where she’s singing 90% of the stuff, imagine the strain, even on a professionals voice. :P

She said in Joyride-documental:” I studied music...But it was too boring...” not the best choice Marie, BTW I think that is more good than bad that they sings different Live ’cos when I listen to Celine Dion its quite boring hear the same as the album...

No, I don’t think they’re doing it on purpose like “we gotta get this high enough” and press a button. That’s just how it ends up sounding on the final product. For instance, I have noticed when I record a song on a regular cassette the sound changes a lot higher from the original CD sound. Even when I record from CD to CD the sound changes a bit...And I’m not using any kind of tricks :-)

and rember when they record albums marie ..especially as of recent albums record not only the lead vocals but back up as welll which is alot to do

its hard and puts tension on the vocal chords, if you have alot of gigs, it the last thing you want to do. she can do it, but does not want to damage her vocal chords, as i can hit all three octives, but been warned off doing so for that reason buy professionals.

And that kind of tricks such as change the pitch or even correcting the tuning in the vocals are something very common, that master engineers do every day.

I wouldn;t count on that... What she means is she studied music theory and didn’t quite like it so she quite because is was too boring. That on itself has nothing to do with your voice or teh instrument you’re playing.

I am absolutely certain that she trains her voice daily because if you don’t your voice gets rusty and loses it’s flexibility.
Besides all that she ceraitnly has singing techniques, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to sing like a bird for so many years. If she would have no technique at all here voice would have been fucked up long ago (although only Madonna seems to have vocalchords made of steel, hehehe)
The reason that she can’t hit all those high notes is because she has given birth to two childeren.. It’s not seldom that teh female voice lowers a little after that. Also when a female gets older, her voices lowers as well.

The only solution then is as Santi already mentioned.. soundengineers can pitch the voice , but most (REAL!!) singers don’t aproove that because the want it all to be natural

Of course she have a Vocal Technical; but if you Listen to the earlys performances -Strul,Mamas barn ,solo¬ Roxette you could see that she don’t do in the right way (Thats NOT mean that She’s bad singer, NO WAY She’s the best!!!!!) if you could see a scene of Backstage of sweeden Live video(Downloable in Roxbytes) then you Know what i mean, when Mía lindgren is doing her vocal excercises and then Marie Do the same, you could see(HEAR) the difference ;-) BTW : I think since -Baladas en Español- time- Marie have a very different way of sing(A BETTER ONE)
