Per: "It's a circle being closed"
ChrisWilliams said on February 25, 2003 21:39:
Per is quoted as saying, “I can feel that we’ve been doing this for so long and that it’s a circle being closed.”
For me, this signals a definite end for Roxette. With The “Hits” compilations doing so well, I think both Per and Marie would agree that it’s great to go out ’with a bang’, instead of simply fading away into the history books of music.
It would be nice to see Roxette continue, however I cannot see there being many further new releases.
Hopefully Per is correct when he says, “We plan to continue with Roxette. How and when, I don’t know, but we’ve been doing this all our lives, so we can’t stop it.”

I do see them coming back in a few years. They released a bunch of greatest hits in 1995, and yet they came back in 1999 with a great album like HAND with a totally different and more mature/up-to-date sound. I can see that happen again. Plus Gessle also mentioned that their songs start to feel right and great. So I am sure they will be back in 2005 or something.
Ferdan said on February 26, 2003 01:12:
HAND mature?? good joke
Anyway, circles don’t have an end... so i don’t get the analogy
roxtexanet said on February 26, 2003 02:26:
I don’t think we should read anything into the circle comment about Roxette’s future... the way I read it was something like, “80s sounds are becoming popular again so our sound fits into the radio climate once again just as it did when we started, therby completing a circle” or something like that. No matter how you read it, interpreting this as some kind of ’hint’ that Roxette are quitting is *completely inconsistent* with what Per says at the end of the article. Anyone else read it like this?
dan-rox said on February 26, 2003 08:09:
don’t think the end, with HAND they came with a new sound, and that’s what they need: new music, with “ON” they came with a new style that started with HAND, there are two different Roxette, afoter and before HAND, now i think they are fresh and wanting to continue in this sound way, unlickily happened that with Marie, but it’s just need of time, so don’t worry cos we’ll see them again soon with new albums, and hope also published officially the Unplugged.
onlywhenidream said on February 26, 2003 08:55:
i think you are misunderstanding what per says...he also says that he roxette songs sound fresh again ...like there is a new beginning for Roxette. I warn against taking things so literally. I don’t think it is the end of Roxette. I think (and what I think Per means) is that it is the end of another chapter. Give marie a year or so and maybe there is another chapter to begin...
pietROxette said on February 26, 2003 10:04:
Don’t you guys think it’s quite enough that others, like MTV, always claim the end of Roxette. Couldn’t simply we, fans, trust a little bit in Marie and Per and not call the end of Roxette in every second day?
dan-rox said on February 26, 2003 12:44:
so every time MTV says something we have to believe them ? don’t say things like that, obviously there will be a break because of Marie’s health, but that’s all, the sound of Roxette is fresh, like being born again, if they will have the same success as before, that’s difficult to say.

We know that music is their great love. How can they quit it?And what is the way to continue this love better than Roxette(which is a great name)?
coyboyusa said on February 26, 2003 15:13:
what per means i honestly thing is that every band in the world endures a similar career track a beginnign hit followed by another big album, the a retraction of the international market for a few years then a sudden return to fame...it happened with duran duran and the pretenders....hand in terms of its song writing was a hell of alot more mature than rs...rs is just the i wrote this in my sleep hope you like it type of album ...its tourism 2002
coyboyusa said on February 26, 2003 15:16:
and just out of curiosity whats so horrible if they do decide to retire. Haven’t they proven to their fans that great pop music..when its written prodouced and performed with heart and soul can outlive any trend no matter what it is. We...well mostly european fans have had more that 2 wonderful decades of music from them...who are we to demand every day that they go on. Whne you;re faced with a life threatening illness thing take on an entirely different perspective...success pales in comparison to the warmth and love of family and friends any day...besides they know we love them more than we will ever know
Heart_2002 said on February 26, 2003 18:57:
When will you ever stopn talking about HAND?
After all thse years you are still fighting about it?
It’s more than clear that HAND is a album loved by some and hated by others. But do you really have to fight about it! Let it be...1999 is gone away we’re 2003...enough is enough
Roxette-atic said on February 26, 2003 19:47:
@Heart: ppl are allowed to talk about what they want, you know ;). btw :I love both HAND& RS.
Heart_2002 said on February 28, 2003 14:44:
I’m not forbidding anyone to say whatever you want to say! But does it make any sence to keep doing this hate and love battle about HAND or RS over and over and over again? I mean after all this time it’s more than clear who likes them and who doen’t and no matter how much we talk about it we’ll never get to a common conclusion. So let the albums be what they are and if you have an opinion about them keep it to youself we know already all about. We have talking about them too much over the last years and we have been saying the same all the time. I love both but why should i keep saying it 20-Four-7? One time is enough...after all they are only 2 ordinary Cd like any other CD no matter if they’re good or not!
At least this is what I think
Ps: I agree also with Pietro! If MTV doesn’t like them we do and that’s all that matters. Or do you have to depend on something to keep liking Roxette!?

I believe the circle Per refers it‘s a stage of their careers, not their careers...just check the context of the story...he tells that he feels Roxette is doing something great again, very eighties, blablabla...I think that Per feels as us, that Roxette misled itself since their break and their comeback in 99. But now, it feels like if they got the way again.
Besides, they have a big, big amount of unreleased material. They get the Boxette, Brazil didn‘t get the DVD, for example, etc. So...it‘s nothing being finished, but completed.

Have to do this: HAND RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRuuuuuuuuuuulllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
coyboyusa said on March 1, 2003 17:01:
i wasn’t fighting about anything I just find it incredibly ironic you spew on and on about chart success and album sales and when you put hand and rs up against eachtoher..by numbers hand wins
i honestly don’t care you want to continue to display a level of annoying immaturity go ahead :)
peace and bollocks

Ferdan: You can say as many time you want you can’t stand HAND! So far so good..but you are lying in an humourous way cause if the album was such a dissapoitment you wouldn’t be so childish to keep saying it all over and over and over again as if you trying to convince the world about it (and i know that somehow that’s not your intention, it’s the way you like to annoy some people like me as it becomes a sort of tradition here) But anyway...you can lie as many time you want but i am sure that there must be ONE or TWO songs on the album you just can say no to it! But performing the role of the “anti-Hand” fan you will be to proud to admit it!
You know a lot about music in order to recognize a good album especially a good roxette album but you can’t have the guts to deny a roxette song to be good even if such song appears on HAND! That you can’t stand Stars or Anyone that’s fine...but being so pround and selfish to not listen and appreciate a I was so lucky or the beautiful Beautiful Things or Wish I Could Fly or even Crush On You...don’t tell that the production annoys you cause that’s not enough to make you dislike these songs... music is more than just sound ....
But anyway I am sure after you read this you’ll be flamming me as always but i’m used to it so it won’t mean that much..
I wonder where do you keep HAND at home...in the celler? Or have you given it to someone else?
Don’t tell me you fell ashamed to have the record at home? Ohhh so pathetic...
Anyways...have a nice day!:)
Ferdan said on March 6, 2003 21:48:
I said millions of times there were 2 or 3 songs that were ok in HAND, but before it i was used to like 99% percent of the Roxette songs in each album...
My HAND album still has the smell of a new album... so you can imagine how many times i coulnd stand listening to it.
If I get responses from people like you, i´m doing a nice job then
