is this the end?

I mean, do you think Roxette have any intention of releasing a new album...
Who releases 2 compilations show-casing your whole career’s single releases, then release a new album?
Now with marie’s health, I think her doctors are advising her to take it easy...
Anyone else notice this, or are you just ignoring it cos you don’t want to believe it!

This is what I posted a couple of months ago too. I believe this is going to be the end.

With that new single??? What would that be for an end? Per is going to make it like this the next 15 years I suppose... IT ROX ON !

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times:
THIS IS NOT THE END!!!!!
I mean, c’mon, releasing two compilation CDs doesn’t meant they are retiring. It just means that, in various markets that they haven’t been in for a while, they have a chance for a relaunch and to remind everyone out there how great they are.
To be so negative doesn’t help them much, by the way. I have seen more bitter diatribe on this forum from supposed fans than I have ever heard from friends who thinks that Roxette sucks!
Now is not a time to be doubting Marie and Per, and I think those who do need to sit back and take a look at themselves. Be fan, not a critic. There’s too many of them out there.
Just A Humble Opinion,
Salvation7-20-7

well didn’t pet shop boys release a whole bunch of discography? and are they still around? releasing greatest hits is actualyl a good way for them to keep in touch with the world while marie recovers

Well, actually, Aerosmith released best of albums, and were promptly declared finished. Despite a 1973 - 1983 best of, and a 1983 - 1993 best of, they have continued recording. Best-ofs mean nothing - go to www.allmusic.com and see just how many of them there are.

@ Santi: Don’t you think that the only people to decide if it’s over or not are Marie and Per. Kind of egotistical of you to think that you can declare if they are over or not.

It’s only the beginning. Soon there will be the best of the B-sides. A Box set...
Stormkeeper said on February 19, 2003 08:38:
and another DVD...
@Santi why do you think it´s the end?

@Salvation####: Egoistical? :O What have I done??? Must I say “no” for you to hear? They ask me my opinion and I give it. I didn’t know I was forced to say what you want to hear... Sorry if I thought there was freedom of speech... :(
@Stormkeeper: I hope I’m wrong because I really enjoy Roxette’s music (It was a nice surprise to hear “Breathe”). But this all smells like quitting. Now everyone has all their hits, the CDs if you wanna get deeper in their music are in the stores and they release the last songs they had around gathering dust. :/ Then Marie’s illness... And the fact that lately they have not worked on Roxette “much”. I don’t know. It’s just a feeling, that I hope it’s wrong. Anyway if they release some more compilation it will be the end, not for them, but for me. I’m tired and sick of Listen to your heart/The look/Sleeping in my car/It must have been love in so many CDs. I just bought TBH to have the new songs legally, and I will do the same (I think so at least by now) with TPH. So yeah... I got in their trick, but I’m not gonna be a fan my whole life and I think I’ll say “I stop it” some day.
And if anyone got hurt, sorry.

@ Santi: I never said there was freedom of speech, and didn’t intend for it to be interpreted like that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Doesn’t mean that everyone has to agree with them. I get a little passionate about things I like (obviously :) ).
Was just stating a humble, thought heated, opinion.
Cheers,

The only persons who have the real answer are Marie and Per.
If they don’t mention it, it is not over.
If they quit (which hopefully will not be in the near future), they will tell us.
A couple of years ago this question was asked to Per Marie and their answer was then something like:
“We will keep making music, it is the only thing we can do”. ;)
Maybe a little bit different words, but more or less this quote.

well, not really, but such discussion... Per & Marie themselves are the only people who can decide if this is the end or not. anyway, I strongly believe (hope) , NOT.
what I think is: no-one’s in a hurry . they can wait an year or two, or however they want, to release a new album... and moreover, they have signed a contract till 2007. and moreover, they dropped once The Night Of The Proms, and I strongly believe, that **if Marie recovers soon and feels good** they will do it this year, or the next. if. just if. one hope more.
on the other side: they are musicians. when you’re a musician (or artist of any type) you are artist for your entire life, not just for some years. so, you make music for your entire life (or at least I think so). you may not release albums in a group (in the case - Roxette) , but you can do some stuff as solo. you can take some years to rest, and then come back. or you can never come back, just make music. I think you can’t give up off the art like that. but, finally, that’s something that you decide YOURSELF.
so... you see. let Per & Marie do what they want.
(as being fans) we can only hope for one thing or another (and we can state our opinions , of course, as having kind-of free forum).
just my 2 words.
