"The Ballad Hits" to be released in the USA

“The Ballad Hits” will get a US release on April 22.
That’s great news for all american Roxette fans who were longing for their favourite band who hadn’t released anything since the US version of “Don’t Bore Us Get To The Chorus”.
Apparently the European & UK success of the album lead to an official US release.
(Source is Capitol Sweden so that means it’s quite sure)

Wow. Pushed back again from the March 25th date. Hopefully this April 22 date will stick if they do intend to really promote.

Great googly moogly... IT’S BEEN PUSHED BACK AGAIN!!! First, Valentine’s, then march, now April.... NEXT.

Maybe they are waiting to see if Marie can do promotion then. I doubt it though, chemotherapy usually takes a long time ... but it would be nice for them to get all the promotional material ready.

Hopefully VIRGIN US will do a good job, that’s what Roxette are signed to in the US now. I found out from a friend who owns a record store, that if TBH and TPH do well, Virgin will be reissuing Roxette’s entire catalogue Stateside, including firsttime US releases of RS, HAND and POP!!
Mfan28179-Jason said on February 18, 2003 07:44:
Virgin? Where did you hear this? Virgin is a division of EMI, I believe. However, wouldn’t it be Capitol USA that they would be signing to (or have already signed)?
powerpoplarry said on February 19, 2003 04:13:
YUP, Virgin US!! First, I saw TBH reviewed in US magazine Blender (through Maxim), and the label listed for the album was Virgin. Then, I talk to my friend who runs a mom+pop record store, and he confirmed it, that the US version of TBH will be on Virgin, as will TPH, and if the sales are good, Virgin US will be reissuing the entire Roxette catalogue stateside, including the never-before-released-in-the-US “Room Service”, “Have A Nice Day”, and even “Pearls Of Passion”!!
Virgin is a division of EMI, as is Capitol, yes, but things get switched stateside sometimes. Robbie Williams just did. His contract was switched in the US from Capitol to Virgin, it’s all EMI, just different divisions. Norah Jones did too, from Blue Note/Capitol to Blue Note/Virgin. I guess Roxette has US support from the Virgin arm, as opposed to Capitol, so they were switched over. Could be a good thing here, ya know??
This switch from Capitol to Virgin could be the reason for the TBH being pushed back, to April 22, for preparation purposes, promo, revised artwork, etc, with the Virgin logo, as opposed to the Capitol logo. Plus, I can tell, that at the bottom, it will say “copyright 2002 Capitol Records Sweden. Manufactured by Virgin Records America.”
roxtexanet said on February 19, 2003 04:24:
Ohhh... I think this is very, very good... Virgin is WAY more established in the US than Capitol is... and look at the kind of money they throw at promoting Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Shaggy... if they give “TBH” 10% of the promo budget of any of those artists’ latest records, Roxette should be assured a respectable chart position on Billboard... let’s have some of those TV ads on US networks, shall we?!
Roxrider_USA said on February 19, 2003 04:46:
Hoping it all goes well!! Seems like i’m in heaven right now!! Just imagining all that Roxette material here in the US.
Good lucky to Rox and all of us US rox fans!
Peace out!

Don’t nobody hold their breath. You’ll match the Navy Blue in my work pants if you do. I’ll believe it when I see it.
royalball said on February 19, 2003 17:09:
Yeah. I’m not expecting anything. We’ve heard the story about a new release. Even if it is released, will they release ATAY as single a month prior to TBH? Will it get airplay? I have a feeling it’ll just get thrown out in stores and no one will no it was ever released. Hopefully I’m wrong.
coyboyusa said on February 19, 2003 23:17:
i thought it was confirmed they would be on capitol usa not virgin..if its virgin they will be promoted descently even if per and marie can’t come here personally ;)
royalball said on February 20, 2003 05:58:
coyboy, you’re right. I looked up on Sunday to see the release and it still says Capitol Records, no mention of Virgin. I haven’t seen any changes.
powerpoplarry said on February 20, 2003 06:20:
It will be changed. Apparently, promos were sent out to be reviewed and the Blender review says Virgin, and my friend who knows releases says it’s Virgin, so it’s Virgin, but I guess we’ll see if it does anything.
cskendras said on February 20, 2003 08:11:
i hope that TBH will get any attention in the US, so US-fans: storm out and take this chance, make promotion on the street, make your friends buy it,....
then you’ll be hopefully able to buy Room Service, HAND and PoP :o)
coyboyusa said on February 20, 2003 12:42:
i have to say tho if they choose not to appear for any album signings or interviews its gonna hurt tbh’s success here in the states so per get up and come over :)
Roxrider_USA said on February 20, 2003 16:38:
Nice feeling.
Hope we get a radio single release!
Take care, friends!

Stars will only be successful in the states if they get rid of that children’s choir :P
royalball said on February 25, 2003 06:03:
I don’t think they should release the album...it’s not a good time. I think Roxette should back out, or delay the release.
bunny said on February 25, 2003 06:38:
Yep. they should release the pop hits first and then the ballad hits for next Valentine’s day.
Mfan28179-Jason said on February 26, 2003 03:19:
I agree. With the summer months upon us, it would be a better opportunity to release ’The Pop Hits’ April 22 (or shortly thereafter) in the USA instead of ’The Ballad Hits.’ I think many of you will agree with me that ’Opportunity Nox’ is the perfect summer hit waiting to happen. ;) With all the buzz going around about the song now, go for it. Hey ’Opportunity Nox’! Save ’A Thing About You’ and ’The Ballad Hits’ for Christmas or even next Valentine’s Day (even though it’s so far away).
coyboyusa said on February 26, 2003 16:17:
stars would have been very popular in the gay club circut there with a great remix...and of course a better video ...acutally wicf if it was promoted the right way would have faired a bit better..i just pray they rethuink atay as their first single here
Vixzter said on February 17, 2003 17:48:
I just hope they don’t all want them to personaly fly out and spend 6 months promoting it ;)
If they can make it to #11 here without even setting a foot in this country then I’m sure they’ll be ok there ;)
