No UK top 40 for ATAY ..

Ah well, at least the album’s number 11

It didn’t even break the top 100 singles...

:(

Yes it did.
“A Thing About You” entered the UK Singles Chart at #77.
Which is quite bad but what could you expect with shops no storing it.

Well, 77’s better than nothing - as you say, especially considering the lack of stock in the shops

EMI may have promoted the album and we are all pleased with the results....

But sorry EMI you should have made the effort to ensure the single was stocked in shops for people to buy and then maybe we would have got into the top 40.... very poor EMI....

Oh yes... there it is at #77...

Not surprising though really... so many people have bought the album so there really wasn’t much of a reason to spend yet more money for a single which many had already had.

i hope ppls didn’t put themselves thru listening to the entire top 40 ;) at about 37 I gave up as I couldn’t put up with the endless amount of crap being played :P

single being released after album also hasn’t helped the single sales

@Vix... I managed to stomach up to about #32, then gave up. There is only so much ’British Chart Music’ I can take!!

well, why put down EMI yet again for not promoting the single? Albums mean much more in the more contemporary market than singles. Secondly buying that single would be wasting money on nothing.... TWOTW was on the bonus ep in most countries and can’t say the video to ATAY was that great when looking at other works from Jonas... Might be better encouraging EMI a bit instead, esp. when considering future releases

well... when HMV only had all of *2* copies... its no wonder it didnt get in the chart.

and i agree... single BEFORE album next time!!

It would have been good if it had made the top 40 cause we have UK Chart attack on Australian MTV so it might have been some exposure for them down under but non-the-less I’m thrilled that TBH managed to get to Number 11 this week, that’s great news! I would be throwing a party if it was the Australian charts ;)

Great stuff!

As many other people pointed out, the single for ATAY was released AFTER the album. Why would people buy the single if they already have the album with those same 2 tracks? And considering the single had a sh*tty tracklisting to begin with, what did we honestly expect? The only thing appealing about the single is the artwork. As pointed out, both “A Thing About You” and “The Weight Of The World” are packaged with ’The Ballad Hits.’ The only “extra” thing you got with the single is the video for ATAY. Pointless really. Perhaps if they included some other tracks (like the live versions of WICF and COYH which were intended for the ’Anyone’ single release) it could have drawn more buyers. Then again, I don’t work for EMI, so what do I know? ;)

there are not a lot of roxette fans still active in the UK, so that’s probably why the single didn’t sell well, plus EMI probably figures that most people will buy the album anyway, so they didn’t do much promotion for the single itself ...

@Mfan - Weight Of The World didn’t make it to our TBH here as we didn’t get the EP version.

According to eil.com, the UK limited edition with EP is for sale.

Not in any shops, we didn’t get the EP version probably coz there wasn’t enough left in Europe to bring in and they couldn’t be arsed to make any more for us. Probably a good idea as it would only give record companies/shops an exscuse to put the price up.
