What's a ballad?

I just want to know what do you understand as ballad and all the definitions inside it: Power ballad, folk ballad... And if you can give examples of why do you consider it like that, please :)

It’s just that I think Love is all is a “folk ballad”. I just wanted to know what you understand for this, because for me Run To You never was a ballad... for example.

Run to you doesn’t have the tempo a ballad should have. Too fast for a ballad

It’s true that Run To You does not have the tempo for a ballad, but the same happens with Fading: it’s a quite fast song (about 105 BPM if I’m not wrong...) but it’s considered a power-ballad. But, in despite of this, I think that the demo version of Run To You gets closer to what I can call a ballad, don’t you think so?

Hi! I know you’re argentinian and I’m too, but I answer you in English because of the others... A ballad is a down-tempo song, usually with romantic content on the lyrics. A power-ballad is an 80’s ballad style purely. It’s hard to explain what is a power-ballad, but it’s a down-tempo song with important changes in the melody or the atmosphere in it. An example: Fading Like A Flower. And a folk ballad is a down-tempo but with folklorical influence... I mean, it changes depending on the zone it comes from, ok? An example: The Heart Shaped Sea.
I hope this could have made you some things clear, but... I know you know about music. You were who published here some chords, so... is this topic put with ironic target? Cheers!
