Did the Marie-story helped Roxette?

I have been thinking, now that Roxette is having a bigger success than with HAND &RS, do you think that all the attention that Roxette got in september with Maries illnes, helped Roxette sales? Esp.in UK. perhaps EMI was surpriced that Roxette got so much attention that they thought” People still remember Roxette, lets spend more money promoting them”?? And every article about Marie mentioned “The Ballad Hits” and “ATAY”. Hope Marie gets real strong again.

Yea... but I’ve also thought about this, and I think it can have something to do with it. I mean... isn’t there a saying that “all promo are good promo”. Meaning that it does not matter that much what the newspaper writes, just as long as they write something... I think that all the attention Roxette have gotten because of Maries illness, actually can help push up the sales a bit.

I don’t hink it helped in the UK coz there hasn’t really been that much about it.
TBH is doing well mostly coz it has all the old favourites on it like IMHBL and LTYH.....and coz its getting some promo....amazing what record companies can do when they actualy plan things a bit better.

Roxette are not having bigger success now than with HAND and RS. TBH has had low sales in countries that roxette normally have big success in. For example Sweden, Germany and south america. These are very important markets for roxette. I would guess that HAND sold a million in these regions. I don´t think TBH will reach a million.

TBH will reach over a million sales simply because its a compilation that ppls will buy in the lower selling Roxette countires ie : UK & USA (if they ever get it) It appeals to the part time rox fans as well as the die hards.....so reaching a wider range of ppls.

Most of us ordered this TBH through the internet when it was released 3-4 months ago. Does that count towards the sales number?? I mean many of us bought it then just cause we couldn’t wait for it to be released lets say in Canada!

dunno... i’d rather not experience this tragedy and forget the popularity boost it might have given Roxette...

i sure hope that they havent been helped by Marie’s illness... it shouldnt take something as serious as that to get a band noticed for what they do well. thats just sick, if people only buy it cos they’re like, oh well, she’s ill, so we’ll support them now.
but nevertheless... it probably has helped

no, i don’t think so.... but it will definitly help her sell more solo CD’s....

I so don’t think so, I believe EMI just did what they should’ve done a long time ago
Small-talker said on February 18, 2003 13:36:
yes. I do believe it did help! But I was so upset about it that it didn’t help me at all! I seriously thought she was gonna die!!

I don’t believe, that Marie’s illness worked for Roxette - at least not in Austria.
The Newspapers and the radiostations didn’t pay that much attention on Marie’s illness, like in Germany or in Sweden. And if an article was printed, ATAY or The Ballad Hits have never been mentioned.
