The U.N Survey!!

There’s another Email....
Last month, a survey was conducted by the U.N. worldwide.
The only question asked was, “Would you please give your honest opinion
about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world”
The survey was a HUGE failure.
In Africa they did not know what “food” meant.
In Western Europe they did not know what “shortage” meant.
In Eastern Europe they did not know what “opinion” meant.
In the Middle East they did not know what “solution” meant.
In South America they did not know what “please” meant.
In Asia they did not know what “honest” meant.
And in the USA they did not know what “the rest of the world” meant.
PS: I DO NOT MEAN ANY HARM TO ANYONE!!!!!

Unbelievable! What kind of junk is this? This is sad. Gotta be a “supposed-to-be-funny” joke. Food shortage is not somethig to joke about. :-(!
And why people always have to go and compare whole continents to the USA. The US is a country not a whole continent. The whole continent would be Canada, US (Alaska) and Mexico, which is North America. Why??
Take care, friends.

Carlos -> Maybe because USA is as big as the whole Europe, has most climatic zones possible (From desert to Arctic), people from more nationalities than in any other country live there, that makes it also a lot of languages are spoken (though not oficially), they have the “World” Series in their own sport of which we don’t care about at all, we believe they believe the world is divided in USA and the rest...
In fact geographically speaking is not a continent, but actually as it’s the economic empire is as important. And Canada is the second largest country in the world (Not after USA!!! :D) :/

Oh people what the hell are you talking about? Fuuny staff? joke? What do you think it looks like?
It’s only a sad story...
2 Roxrider USA : USA is not a whole continent.... but it plays an important part in his continent, and it acts like a continent!

hihi I also got it some time ago and had a great laugh, i just thought about Mr. Bush who didn’t know where Spain was some time ago :DD He thought it was a state in Mexico :O

i’m starting to find these things less and less humorous...this is why the world is in the state it is
StillFar said on February 13, 2003 20:38:
the world is in this state because of terrible politicians...not to mention any names
Roxrider_USA said on February 13, 2003 20:56:
@Coyboyusa: Way to go.
@others:
–>Brazil is bigger than the US without Alaska and Hawaii. It has all kinds of cultures, languages, religions, peoples and climates. The only difference is that it doesn’t have a humongous economy. So, if we follow this, it means then that Brazil is a continent and the rest of South America is another ? Therefore, a continent inside a continent ?
–>And refering to Aaso’s comment, Brazil also plays an important role in its continent (South America). If Brazil’s economy turns to ashes, then the whole South American continent will suffer tremendously. Therefore, by what Aaso says Brazil is a continent too. Going even further, still refering to Aaso’s comment concerning economic importance, the US is , then, the only continent on the planet since it’s economy affects greatly most semi and industrialized nations.
Friends, i still believe we should compare a geographically known region as a continent to another geographically known region as a continent. Consequently, i believe we should not compare a country rich in all kinds of variety to a whole continent merely because a continent is as rich in variety as a certain country.
Thanks for the insight, friends! :-)!
Take care!

2 Roxrider USA : There are actually more reasons that makes The US comparable with other continents.....
Santi said on February 13, 2003 21:56:
@Carlos: A crisis not so long ago in Brazilian economy made the whole “asian dragons” economic zone to get into a crisis, and it had influence in Europe, Japan and I guess Northamerica too.
What I’m trying to say is that with globalization any part of the world can lead the rest into a economic crisis...
Roxrider_USA said on February 13, 2003 23:00:
Hi!
@Santi: Acceptable globalization argument. However, would you consider England to be a continent since it has a big economy, different peoples and cultures? And, do you, refering to Aaso’s and your earlier comments categorize Brazil as a continent, then ?
@Aaso: What would be the other reasons besides size, economic strength, culture, religion, different peoples and different climates? Somehow I believe that if there are any other reasons, those will also describe other countries rather than the US as a continent likewise.
Guys, I believe that this, in my opinion, wrong notion that the country of USA is just like all other whole continents, is due to the fact that many people view individual US states as whole countries and consequently, the US as a whole continent. I believe this is the case precisely because many people use Europe as an example of a continent since Europe have many small countries which make up a whole continent.
Seems like many people see that all the small European countries are like all the individual US states. Today, i believe that this notion is even stronger since the creation of the European Union and the circulation of a single currency in most European countries.
–>For instance, the Euro is the European currency. Currency for many countries in Europe. The Dollar is the US currency. Currency for all US states.
(Catch: the dollar came first and the US is a single country). :-)!
Curiosity: For you, is it a whole continent or a single country that most influences the world ? (Think about it friends)!
Wow, that’s what a constructive and healthy discussion looks like!
Take care, friends! Peace out!
