TPH + EP - for Australia - yay!!

I just got an email from EMI OZ, they will be releasing the standard version AND the Limited edition with the EP of TPH. And best of all release date is 24 March (international release) unless there are delays with deliveries from Europe.
No word about single release, but i highly doubt it as ATAY wasn’t released :(
But i’m so happy - i don’t have to import this time!! :)

Good news! Maybe EMI are sitting back on the single as usual to see how it goes, if its a BIG hit, then they may release it. Its creeping up to 9 years! since they had a top 40 single here. Even if ON only made it to No40, I’ld be damn excited! :)
RobS said on February 11, 2003 10:42:
9 years, really? - thats just terrible.
Well hopefully EMI will notice what happens when you promote an album (if they keep tabs on other countries), and they’ll get stuck into some major promo work.
i wonder why they never done the valentines day thing down here??
@imazombieinthemoonlight - are u from aus or sweden. i always thought u were but ur details say sweden. i’,m very confused??

australia is on the other side of the world, its hard for roxette lol

@RobS - I must of been drunk when I filled that out :P I am in Australia, all my details are now correct. Its great to see we are getting bonus EP, makes you think why did we miss out with the TBH EP!? Silly EMI Australia!
You would think they might see a pattern with Roxette. Promotion = success. LS, Joyride, Tourism, C!B!B!, DBGTTC all had promotion on TV and magazine and sold well. HAND, RS & TBH did not and = flop.
After 1995, I think EMI Aus were taken over by a bunch of monkeys :)

Well, at least those albums that flopped were released in Australia!! Here in America, EMI folded!! As a result, everything after 1994 never had a US release, except for “Baladas En Espanol”, and that was on EMI Latina!! And the last proper EMI release here, CBB?? That flopped. Ya know why?? Cuz of that STUPID McDonalds campaign, where they released “FAVORITES from CBB” among 5 cheap CDs, which sold decently for $5 a pop, but was cheesy-looking, and didn’t even have any of the singles!! Ever since, Roxette had no US profile, they are looked at as has-beens and nostalgia only, and they had to resort to a deal with Edel America which folded too, only after releasing the 2000 DBUGTTC!! We’ll see if Capitol US even RELEASES TBH + TPH!! Keeping my fingers crossed. The US labels are utterly hopeless and pathetic here really!!

Well according to Vicky we won’t be getting a single and therefore any promotion. But at least we get the EP.
Btw WICF charted #30 in the Aria Sanity charts. so it;s only 4 years.

Typical! I mean it’s great that they are releasing TPH with the EP (although I’ll believe it when I see it) but can’t that see that the UK is finally benifiting from a little promotion why can’t they do the same here!!!! ON would do great if it got some airplay but sadly again it seems like it wont happen...
rezmad said on February 13, 2003 02:21:
I gave up waiting for the EP in Oz ages ago and grabbed the Canadian version.
ON really has the potential to chart well... if it is promoted.
I know a few non-Roxette fans who are friends of mine that enjoyed the song.

What people have to realize is.......all the branches of EMI/Capitol......they don’t actualy talk to each other ;) Otherwise we’d have the same releases all over the world with the same level of promo etc, Even though the UK has good promo for ATAY and TBH.....doesn’t mean that a: we’ll get TPH or b: it will be promoted (what are they going to tie it in with? They’ll have to make up a day something like power pop day ;) just to get the sales boosted)
RobS said on February 13, 2003 08:01:
@imazombieinthemoonlight - about the EP on TBH they said “it’s particularly hard to have a lot of
different versions out of the same album...” makes me wonder why? coz they don’t promote it so whats so hard??
@ditroia - did she say why no single release? and whatever happend to Graham Ashton? They could at least released it to radio - or will the fans have to do that for them as well?
Even if EMI’s around the world don’t talk to each other you would still think they would realise that promotion sells an album, as imazombie... said, up to 95 rox were selling well, but once promo stopped so did the sales. Obviously they don’t think that Rox have to ability to sell enough for them to bother with promo and are just happy sellling a couple of thousand copies.

Here’s what she told me and heres what I asked her back, [still no reply]
Hi David
Thanks for your email.
We will not be releasing the single in Australia - however we will be releasing the album (standard and limited edition).
We hope to meet the international release date of 24 March but if Europe send the stock to us too late, it will have to be a week later.
Best Wishes
Vicky
Hi A few Questions
Will any of the Albums be made in Australia or will they all be EU imports?
What was the reason for not releasing the single in Australia?
Will it have that crappy Catcus Copy Protection, it is very easy to crack and the only people it hurts are those who have devicesd that can’t play them, [Unless they rip it and burn it]
Can we expect any major promotion for this album, look what a couple of ads i nthe UK did and in Holland they re-released TBH and ATAY with accompianing promotion and they have both charted higher than before.
Cheers
For the info
David
I hope she responds soon

i wonder what she’ll say about the promo thing - i remember emailing graham ashton about promo for rox a while back and he never replied - wonder why?
pietROxette said on February 11, 2003 08:34:
So it means that EMI Australia will import it from a European country where the EP-version is released, is that right?
Would be great it there was an edition without copy protection...
