HEY Vaxjoe, I was thinking the same thing, talking about Anna V in the off-topic section, so I created an Anna Vissi board!!
(To those who are curious, Anna Vissi is the best female singer from Greece. I’m from NY, but I discovered her by chance, and now, me and VJ are big AV fans, so we found a common topic, haha!!)
Um, for you, VHS is worse, as videotapes from America are all in NTSC, not your PAL. You would have to get it converted, would you be willing to do that?? If yes, I’ll send you one, sure, but which one?? If not, a CD will have to suffice.
Sounds like Anna and Nikos are a strange pair. She’s a muse to him?? Well, sure, as she’s like a muse to me, haha!! That’s cool she will only do his songs, that’s devotion and loyalty!! His songs are her oxygen?? AWWW!! Yep, their kid too, a daughter right?? What’s her name and how old is she now?? Is she gorgeous like her mother?? AHHH, their physical attraction to one another dwindled away, their loss. Actually, that’s why I broke up with my Spanish girlfriend, over time, she became less and less attractive to me. Maybe she wasn’t my type, but she did have a killer figure.
Sorry for the disaster over that movie over there. It refers to Greek Americans only. You wouldn’t be able to relate, neither would anyone over there, I can tell. On a positive note, I am NOT Greek at all, so that’s why we get along, eh?? Hahaha!! I guess Greek Americans are a confused bunch!! Talk about TORN, jeez!! A definite issue, I can see that.
That’ll be SOOO cool if Anna records a second English CD, but this time, she shouldn’t put such high hopes on it, just let it go where it does, and if she conquers the world with it, it’ll just be icing on the cake, ya know?? It would be nice. Thing about Shakira, yes she in close proximity to the US, she lives here now too, but she was the first artist from a non-English speaking Spanish country to WRITE AND record songs DIRECTLY in English!! No one else has done that!! She’s not Latin American, she’s from Colombia, in South America. When you say Latin American, you mean someone from the Latin nations but raised in the US, and they learned English alongside Spanish when they are young. Shakira only really learned English 3-5 years ago, so it’s a kind of big difference really. Yes, I know of the whole Swede connection and how big the connection is, but still, some key Swede acts have yet to even break through in the US, bands like the Merrymakers, Grass Show and the Backyard Babies, as well as many more. Yes, I know t.A.T.u. are SUPPOSEDLY lesbians, which added a novelty aspect, but I think what really clicked here was the single, and ex-Yes/Buggle Trevor Horn’s hard dark production, which is similar to Mylene Farmer’s work. Now, there is ANOTHER Russian band breaking here in the US: the 7-piece band Bering Strait, who are like a pop/country hybrid, emphasizing the pop. They actually sound like the Corrs or Fleetwood Mac, with the odd banjo or violin thrown in. Good record they did too!!
COOL about the EP, no need to buy it as I have “Kravgi”!! Again, let me know what you want, and the whole converting thing, or if a CD would be easier.

Sure, Kylie’s remake is amazing, but Anna did it first, and her version is better than Kylie’s, but only by a hair.

Absolutely!! Kylie is great and all, perfect pop tunes and style up her ass, but vocally?? She dioesn’t hold a candle to Anna V!! Anna’s strong voice is in the same caliber as Shirley Bassi!! I mean, hearing Anna sing makes you want to stand up and salute her!!

dont get me wrong! i love Kylie also, i grew up with her...BUT shes not really an artist...she never wrote or composed anything and she doesnt have THE voice...shes just fun...Anna got first that song and sang it live (dont recall the occassion) and then Kylie when she found out took it (they were sharing the same producer at that period) and released it as a single 1st ...thats the whole story...of course we like Kylies version cause it has a better production and we were used to her version...NOT cause she “performs” the song better than anna :p

Totally agree with you, but Kylie co-writes many of her songs these days, from her DEconstruction 90s period, up thru “Fever” (she co-wrote 5 songs on “Fever”), but her SAW stuff she didn’t write at all, no. Um, am I one of the only straight guys who digs Anna and Kylie?? Just curious...

Yes it is quite odd, I don’t understand it, why I like certain divas, Maddy included, while being straight. Believe me, I did question my sexuality, and I love women, and am not attracted to guys. So it is what it is. Maybe I want to be DATING these divas, not want to BE them, hahaha, but I’m cool with it, and I have gay friends too.

I ordered the Rox DVD from Canada, but I just got a new JVC Progressive Scan DVD player as a gift for the holidays, and it plays PAL DVDs, so I can play my Euro DVD of Rox, ATVAM...
