Does anyone know anything about an Unplugged A-ha album (or something like Unreleased tracks, such a Rarities)??
Man...how I wished to listen to a I’ve been losing you - acoustic version...
Ketil said on February 5, 2003 22:51:
As far as I know a-ha hasn’t released any unplugged album, but a new live album wil be released soon. It’s called “How Can I Sleep With Your Voice in My Head”. It might include accoustic version of some songs.

Poor TinyTim - he posts such an inncocent question and is there in a backlash :) Let us NEVER forget the feelings WE have when people attack our beloved Roxette! Aside from that, The Sun Always Shines on TV has the BEST intro EVER. The only thing about AHA is why they needed to say that in the Living Daylights ’come the morning, and the head lice fade away ...’ He he he

@Storm I love Morten Harket’s music... do you know any of his Norwegian songs...? So strange but so beautiful....
Himmelske danser...
Stormkeeper said on February 6, 2003 19:51:
Hi lad!
No, I don´t know any of his Norwegian songs. He´s adorable.
How come you know so many words in Swedish? :)
roxlad said on February 8, 2003 13:46:
Hi Storm,
I can speak a bit of Swedish because I listen to a lot of Swedish music... Marie, Per, GT, Patrik Isaksson, Frida...
Himmelske danser is a Norwegian song by Morten...
very strange but great!!!!
Unfortunately I can’t speak any Finnish :(
I think it’s a very strange language because is different from all others... unique.

I ve been wanting to ask...does anyone have or listened to Aha’s cd “Guidelines” ???
apart from “forever not yours” i didnt have the chance to listen to any other songs...is it a better or worse album than “Minor earth major sky” ?
Stormkeeper said on February 8, 2003 20:29:
poor americans... there´s a lot great European music they never get to hear...
Santi said on February 8, 2003 21:03:
@roxlad: if you want a “unique” language try Basque.
By the way, Finnish is somehow related to Hungarian as far as I know...
Jud (moderator) said on February 8, 2003 23:50:
from Hungarian? Huh, I live in Vienna and there are lots of Hungarian ppl here, i also have a friend studying there, and she has showed me some grammar, and i could not relate Hu to FI?
(I know how Finish looks and sounds like :P)
Yeah basque is :O! but I guess those languages spoken in the middle of Africa that just one group of ppl speak - are even more rare :P
roxlad said on February 9, 2003 00:35:
@Storm... I didn’t know that but actually I don’t know how Hungarian sounds... sorry!!!!
@Vax... I have the Lifelines CD and it’s very good. I prefer MEMS but if you can listen to it at least three times, it’s not an easy listening album... there are some really good songs...
roxlad said on February 9, 2003 00:36:
@Storm... that was for Santi oops...
@Santi sorry about that :)
Stormkeeper said on February 9, 2003 07:20:
many fans says Memorial Beach is their worst album. It´s their only one together with Lifelines I have never heard. But I´m familiar with Move To Memphis. Morten had a long hair on the video!
My very fave is still Swing Of Things.
roxlad said on February 9, 2003 13:46:
Memorial Beach is not bad at all but it is certainly the one I hear less...
Lifelines is good.
What do you think about MEMS?
vaxjoe said on February 9, 2003 13:52:
i have their best of and Minor earth... which is good given that im not an aha fan...i think their best songs are:
1.I’ll do my crying in the rain
2.Forever not yours
3.Summer moved on
ok ok of course “Take on me” also but this song is overexposed
Stormkeeper said on February 9, 2003 13:58:
overexposed indeed, video too. Thats why many people thinks they´re one hit wonders.
I like MEMS, not all songs are great but for example Sun never shone that day could be a single/video.
I like MEMS and Summer moved on too very much.
vaxjoe said on February 9, 2003 14:11:
i think “summer moved on” was written for me cause around october every year all the ppl i meet in the summer have to go...
especially where he says: “friendships move on...handshakes unfold” me—> :’(
Stormkeeper said on February 9, 2003 14:23:
videos for Hunting high and low and Manhattan skyline plus MEMS are so great. It´s not easy get to see their videos. At least not here.
vaxjoe said on February 9, 2003 14:27:
yes i love their videos too but its the same here...u only can see them when they have a new cd out...i love “velvet” video
Stormkeeper said on February 9, 2003 14:32:
i saw velvet only once.
i don´t see their videos even they has some new material out... :(
powerpoplarry said on February 11, 2003 06:53:
ALRIGHT!!! An a-ha board!! I dig “Lifelines” a whole lot. MEMS is a drop better. I love ALL their albums, but if I have to pick one that is my LEAST favourite, it’s “Stay On These Roads”, maybe cuz it was a tad overproduced, still great though. A second fave would be “East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon”, and then “Scoundrel Days”. ’Memorial Beach” I dig, but it’s a bit dark and sounds like they’re channeling U2. That version of “Move To Memphis”, that the cool video is of, that’s from the hits collection “Headlines And Deadlines”. The version from MB is not as good.
The only Morten solo stuff I know is his English CD “Wild Seed” and the single “Heaven’s Not For Saints”. I want to get the 2 Norwegian ones, and the 2 a-ha DVDs. I love Pal Waaktaar-Savoy’s sideband, SAVOY, that he formed with his American filmographer wife Lauren Savoy. They have 4 CDs out now, I only have the first 3. For a while, they were based out of NYC, as that’s where Pal and Lauren live for half the time, the other half is in Oslo. I saw Savoy 3 times live in NYC clubs, and I even bumped into Pal and Lauren in Tower Records once!! We’re friends, but haven’t seen each other in ages!! Pal and Lauren are cool people, very nice, but Pal’s a bit shy and reserved, but once he knows you, he’s cool and friendly. Lauren’s much more outgoing.
In case you’re wondering, Savoy’s music is more rock oriented, guitar-based. They started off raw and loud, influenced by the Beatles, Neil Young and the Doors. Over time, they’ve gotten brighter and poppier but still remain quirky. Lately, they’ve incorporated influences such as Brian Wilson/Beach Boys and Phil Spector. And Pal’s singing is getting better and better, more confident in tone, yet he always sounded good, if a bit shy. Savoy’s most recent release was 2001’s “Reasons For Staying Indoors”, on EMI Norway, and was produced by Savoy with Michael Ilbert, who’s name should be familiar as he co-produced TWATG!!
Lastly, a-ha’s song “Velvet”?? Cool video too. Um, that was a Savoy song first, on their 1st album, “Mary Is Coming”, in 1996, and it was a #1 single in Norway too!!

@Judith: I also know how they sound (I’ve been living in Flemmingsberg -Huddinge- that has a large Finnish population but one of my neighbours there was Hungarian :D), but if you read something about both grammars... well:
Take that both use the so-called “vocal harmony” that is not related to music but with the vocalic sounds of the rest of the words and depending on the function (if I’m not very wrong :D). You can also find this in Finnish.
It’s a language where you can have looooooong words because you add afixes to get the right meaning, to express the function in the sentence, the same way English or Spanish uses prepositions and word order. In linguistics this is called an agglutinative language, just like Finnish (that has monster long words :p). These are the fundamentals of grammar and sentence structure and it’s shared between both languages.
They belong to a group called Uralic, check this site http://www.rosettaproject.org/live/search/browsebyfamilyresult?searchtyp...
to see that their relatives are languages like Saami or Estonian. It’s completely normal they don’t look alike or so... just think they have been apart (and very far away from each other) for centuries, just like Romanian and French are relatives but don’t sound alike or German and Icelandic are too... They’re no close relatives like Dutch/English or Portuguese/Spanish, but still they have a common ancestor.
@Tinytim: Sorry for making it off-topic from your topic.
