opportunity nox sounds like...
Jackeill said on January 26, 2003 23:07:
like a song from joyride for me! hey it’s guitar powered song it’s not bad! however melody and lyrics aren’t at their best. per, you had been doing better work a time ago!
Edu82 said on January 26, 2003 23:19:
hey! it’s not bad, it sounds fresh, and the chorus is powerfull!!! Better than TCOTH, COY or things like this. Imagine the demo... wow!
QuaKeD said on January 26, 2003 23:20:
It reminded me to 7-20-7, or She doens’t live here anymore + Crush on you, like someone said :)
joyrider said on January 26, 2003 23:24:
i expected such a song in 1999 when i was sitting in my bed and was waiting for wish i could fly ... FINALLY!
rock on!
Jackeill said on January 26, 2003 23:25:
but it’s poppy like a song from joyride, like PF or KOED and a bit form TBL... my opinion. but it’s the best pop song since hand i think. only jefferson was better for me. and 7207 demo, of course!
however we have to wait till tomorrow when sb from germany will record full version. we only know the chorus! there may be great verses ond cool bridge ;)
bunny said on January 27, 2003 00:16:
great song seems like from the clip. hey, i don’t hear any Marie at all? I wonder if she sings in the song?
I_love_having_sex said on January 27, 2003 01:30:
It is a cheap copy of Real Sugar!
I don’t think it will climb any chart in the world. I’m sorry, but I haven’t expected these kind of tunes.
siggi27 said on January 27, 2003 02:08:
to bunny
i think marie is singing the second voice and i think she‘s in the part where rox on or nox on comes.
wich radiostation plays it? i try to record it.
bunny said on January 27, 2003 03:30:
Im sorry I_love_having_sex, but this song does not sound anything like Real Sugar.
It’s a great song, i like it better than joyride too
Salvation7-20-7 said on January 27, 2003 04:56:
Well, I just got done listening to the little snipet, and I think that it sounds very cool. It reminds me of 7Twenty7 in a way. (In case anyone couldn’t tell, I love that song :) ).
Roxette, as always, rox on!
Cheers,
Salvation7-20-7
zeeshan said on January 27, 2003 06:49:
Guitar powered? Yeah well it is running in the background but I think it should have been running more PROMINENTLY. It is just a 30 second snippet I heard and atleast I wouldn’t want to predict about the rest of the song.
It reminded me of MAKE MY HEAD GO POP and now a bit of 7Twenty7.
It certainly has a good uptempo rate. How much do you guys predict? 132? 140!!!??? :)
Sound promising.. waiting for the WHOLE THING!
Zee

onlywhenidream said on January 27, 2003 09:15:

I can just see a yummy video with this!
hhhhmmmmmmm!
richkoni said on January 27, 2003 10:05:
is the last part of the chorus really:
but i’m out when opportunity rox on...
try to figure that out for the last three hours... if so... it’s really cool... like the old days...
Rox On!!
Pascal said on January 27, 2003 10:13:
For me, it doesn’t sound like any other Roxette song. It’s just something completely new. Of course it reminds me of the glorious Joyride days but I can’t compare it to a particular song.
It’s a great, fresh chorus. Maybe not the best, but certainly better than The Centre Of The Heart. And I’m convinced it will do better than A Thing About You in the charts.
HASMAD said on January 27, 2003 11:04:
What a wonderful song!!! And it was only a 30 sec. snippet!!! I was sure that this song will be like Make My Head Go Pop! Eventually... hehe
It’s a fantastic song, and it can be Roxette’s OPPORTUNITY to climb in charts. They need only a bit of promotion, too much than in The Ballad Hits.
Pikappa said on January 27, 2003 12:15:
For me it sounds a bit like DO YOU WANNA BE MY BABY from TWATG
(ON)I’m living in a box.....
(DYWBMB)I really gotta know...
Try to listen to and tell me
Jackeill said on January 27, 2003 15:34:
twatg is more guitar driven, it’s pure rock while ON sounds like a [good] pop song. a little bit like kix. kix is the only one “pop” song on twatg
Santi said on January 27, 2003 15:36:
“The World According To Gessle” pure rock... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL LOL LOL :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
That was good, I really needed a laugh :DDDDDD Thanks ;)
C’mon...

same here wendy. im going to wait until i here it all but so far not good.
Santi said on January 27, 2003 16:26:
Ok, I also wanna say I don’t like it. But I’m lucky, I forgot the tune in 20 minutes :D lol!
Jackeill said on January 27, 2003 17:02:
@santi: what was so funny? thru all albums per have done with roxette, gt or solo, twatg is the “rockest” one. rock has a lot of meanings, but for me rock=twatg. how could you describe it ??? techno? dance?? jazz ???? twatg is a fuckin good rock music and nobody can deny it... it has real drums, real guitars, acoustic and electric ones, there are no loops or samples... it’s not rock like rolling stones used to play, but hey, it was 1997 not 1977......
NancyBoy said on January 27, 2003 17:03:
Did anyone hear the complete song (on German radio)? And is it available for download yet???
IV_ROX said on January 27, 2003 17:39:
Great Tune! It reminds me a little of DYWBMB, yeah...and I think it is the one I was waiting for! :)
erweetiran said on January 27, 2003 18:26:
There is my Baby, after the part where he sings “dreams so solo” and the snippet cuts of you can actually continue with “crying like a baby boy” from There is my baby, try it it fits!
Santi said on January 27, 2003 19:20:
Jackeil: The most you can call The World According to Gessle is “Powerpop”. There are ballads and some Powerpop songs.
LoneGunman said on January 27, 2003 19:30:
Sorry Santi, but I agree with Jackeil... to me “TWATG” is rock !! And what a great rock album.
That’s my opinion
About “ON”... first impression.... LOVE IT, but it seems to have synths and those annoying dance sounds, so I’ll wait to the whole song.
All the best
LoneGunman
Jackeill said on January 27, 2003 20:06:
@santi: exactly! and powerpop belongs to the rock group! i remember it from the times of audiogalaxy: there were many genres, but powerpop was listed as MODERN ROCK... and that’s all. twatg is rock and i know it :) just look here: http://www.audiogalaxy.com/list/glossary.php
Markuz said on January 27, 2003 20:14:
@Jackeill: nevermind that Roxette is listed in the Europop/DancePop/Pop section...
http://www.audiogalaxy.com/list/index.php?&styleID=43
So, NO.
Santi said on January 27, 2003 20:17:
And more: Their main release is “Baladas en Español” :D lol!!
I didn’t know Audiogalaxy still existed :p
Jackeill said on January 27, 2003 20:32:
@Markuz: i’m talking about twatg, i know that rox is europop or st like that in ag.... but definitaly poworpop is rock.
royalball said on January 28, 2003 06:02:
I like the song. I like it better than any of the “Room Service” tracks. This song has a certain edge feel too it. Reminds me of TWATG days!
carbon_boy said on January 28, 2003 09:45:
powerpop=pop-rock, which is an excepted term - more commonly used as a music genre.
So there goes the whole: TWAT is NOT rock! Barf! Its like saying: Bon Jovi is a heavy metal band (which they were regarded as being in the 80’s). They’re Hard Rock at the most.
Genres are bull - u know it and I know it - and lets face it, GT/Gessle & Roxette has had their ROCK moments. And they’ve had their pop moments AND their dance moments. They’re an all rounder band. And the weird thing is that they’re that F@#$ing brilliant that they can pull it off on ONE album.
Cheers
Santi said on January 28, 2003 14:02:
@Carbon_boy: Every pop-rock band record ballads in their albums...
About “The World According To Gessle”: I hate to talk about music genres, but song by song I think it is:
- Stupid: Powerpop
- Do you wanna be my baby: Powerpop
- Saturday: Powerpop
- Kix: Dance/pop
- I want you to know: Rox very boring ballad
- Reporter: Powerpop
- B-any-1-u-wanna-b: Surf rock
- I wish you the best: Very nice Ballad
- Elvis in Germany: Brit-pop (Sounds like “She’s electric” by Oasis, the most Blur-sounding song by Oasis :D)
- T-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-take it!: Powerpop
- I’ll be alright: Rox very good ballad
- There is my baby: = “Here comes my girl” by Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers.
- Lay down your arms: Ballad
Anyone agrees?
Jud (moderator) said on January 28, 2003 14:12:
well there is no need to laugh at the people like that....just because for one pers album is rock and for another it is power pop!!
After all, it is all music we like.
Santi said on January 28, 2003 14:16:
@Everyone: I’m sorry I “laughed out loud” because of that, but I had an exam, knew everything, did it badly and I really needed a laugh, that’s why. I just found it so funny to say that that CD was “PURE” rock... Sorry :p
roxpeter said on January 28, 2003 20:30:

Hope it is not their last single :-(
deja_vu said on January 29, 2003 05:50:
so simple!! ..but it makes it so PERFECT!.. brilliant idea, brilliant song!
coyboyusa said on January 29, 2003 17:54:
my thoughts on twatg
- Stupid: limpid pop song
- Do you wanna be my baby: uptempo great at sportds events
- Saturday: opening intro is to the beavis and butthead show....good song tho
- Kix: Dance/pop
- I want you to know: descent lyrics suffered from an ilbert production
- Reporter: power pop of course
- B-any-1-u-wanna-b: a beach boys homage
- I wish you the best: the ballad roxette never recorded
- Elvis in Germany: a tribute to a hero descent song it has horns it it thank god- T-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-take it!: the onyl song they ever did with a real story descent mid tempo rocker-
I’ll be alright: another ballad rox never recorded- There is my baby: = another rehash of the dressed for success chords it still would been a great single
- Lay down your arms: per ballad what can i say
tinytim said on January 29, 2003 20:41:
...like a really, big, improved Jefferson version.
What doesn’t mean it’s a reason to hate it. Dunno why people dislike Jefferson so much.
For me, this songs follows basically the natural ways of Powerpop and Rock. I guess that everybody likes Avril Lavigne (at least a little) and her songs are, well, not exactly this way, but they sound a little bit “too much overproduced”, what means, elements that aren’t exactly what you expect in that music gender. But it sounds cool, anyway...well, she was in Billboard.com radio 2002 top100...
Gesslemaniac said on January 29, 2003 22:08:
Hmm... let me see :
First of all, I think ON is a mix of various songs - 7-
20-7, one of the newest Gyllene Tider songs, as well as Crush On You or Make My Head Go Pop...
& secondly, regarding the video in production - I have a hunch, that it’ll be a video in retrospective way, such as the one, made for Silverblue ; )
ON is gonna RULE the charts !!!!!
ally77 said on January 30, 2003 20:48:
Just heard the 30 sec snippet... and I love it, give me more ON. 8-)
Jackeill said on January 30, 2003 20:54:
@tinytim: i like jefferson very much... it’s produced like twatg song, maybe that’s the reason.
Santi said on January 30, 2003 20:57:
I love Jefferson... maybe because it sounds so much Tom Petty :D
mimi said on January 30, 2003 21:36:
