Your favorite song(s)? And why..?

I’d simply like to know which songs you guys like best (at least for the moment, I know that’ll change now and then...) and why you like just that song??

Some of my favorites are “A thing about you”, “How do you do”, “Vulnerable”, Per Gessles “Kapten” and “Om jag en dag”

Why? Because..
A - Pers voice gives my shivers down my spine...
B - I very much like especially the swedish texts
C - A thing about you and Vulnerable have lovely melodies...

Anyone
unforgettable melody and video
MATAH
big radio hit. Fun lyrics. Typical Per.

per sung songs:

run run run
apple in the mud
church of your heart
joyride
love doesnt live here
she doesnt live here anymore
crush
727
dangerous ...and more

marie:
waiting ofr the rain..oh hell with it all of em lol

except that damn you can’t put your arams around what sounds liek a demo thing

- Sleeping in my car
..... No comments, just PERfect

- Stars
..... No comments, just PERfect

at mo its ’Breathe’ song of hope in a world full of chaos.

point is...you’re all so right!
Like Sleeping in my car as well, it sort of replaced Soul Deep as my “favorite rock-Marie song”...

I hate Soul Deep, it is just not good in my opinion. I think one of Maries Best Rock Songs is: Hotblooded, with this song she kicks some serious ass! :-)
I think my fav video is: Anyone. This Video is something really different, and soooo well done!!

Don’t ask me why I’d forgotten hotblooded, it litterarily inhabited my CD-player for years! Maybe I’d just had a bit too much of it...but..hey, lets go! *feeding my CD-player with hotblooded once again*

The only thing this discussion has led me to is that my mind only can remember a limited number of really great roxette songs. Problem is: There are more real great roxette songs than my brain can keep in mind. I’m getting old... ;-)

The first girl on the moon:

- It’s a very sweet melody.
- The production and arrangements make it sound sweeter.
- Marie performs it with the sweetest voice she has ever perfomed a song in her career (maybe this was one of the songs recorded when she was pregnant).
- I love harmonica played in a sweet way, and the solo Per plays sounds so wonderful.
- Folk music is always nice in a pop-rock record.
- It has some stories around. Like those dogs barking in the beginning, that started a fight outside Capri’s studio just when Per recorded the acoustic guitar for the song. It was a great decision to keep that take, since that gives the song a special touch no other Roxette song has. It has a real ambience.
- The song is about a girl, a friend of Per when he was a child if I don’t remember badly. That girl lived like in her own world, didn’t have (m)any friends and so on. Well, that reminds me of someone too.

I guess I could go on but I don’t want to bore anyone...

Vulnerable
The whole song is wonderful.

The sweet hello the sad goodbye
Love the lyrics, the music, Marie’s voice

Hotblooded
Like someone said, it kicks ass. I don’t understand why they didn’t release it as a single o.O

Crash Boom Bang
Sweet melody, nice lyrics, LOVELLY video :)

Knockin’ on every door! The best, the meaning, the words, the melody!

@Santi: I love your reasons, now I’ll listen to that song with even more attention :)

Favourite songs:
1. Fading like a flower: I discover Rox thanks to that song :)

2. ATAY: I love the melody, the lyrics, the way Per sings it, the cello...everything

3. Things will never be the same: the mix between Marie and Per voice’s, like in a conversation,
makes this song special.

4. (Marie solo) Om Du Så Mej Nu: Love the music and the lyrics.

5. (Per solo) I’ll be alright: very special lyrics and guitar.

Thanks P&M for those (and others) wonderful gifts!

one song that i just “discovered” was “beautiful things”. I thought that the album version was awesome, then when i got hold on the demo, the guitars just blew me away. Maries voice blends better with the rock then before.

I appreciate highly “A Thing About You” and “Every Day” - simple, beautiful melodies; both Marie and Per put their hearts in performing them:)

And rock tunes, they don’t let me stay still every time I listen to them: Sleeping In My Car (my alltime favourite), Hotblooded (what a beginning!), Real Sugar, Lies (the funny “dialogue” between Per and Marie), SDLHA:) I love the energizing atmosphere around these songs:)))

@eva_roxer: my list is so similar to yours! my fave Marie song is also Om Du Sag Mej Nu! and Det Som Var Nu... and now New World as well!

my favorite from Per is There Is My Baby and T-T-T-Take it

my fave Roxette... well... the list is endless! LOL!

PS Breathe is such a great song.. so uplifting! :)

My alltime favorite Per songs are Kapten and Om jag en dag...defintely. They’ve always been, from the first time I’ve heard them...

How do you do!
Crush on you
Real Sugar
The Rain
Things will never be the same

Neverending love!!!

I have heard the song in 1991 in the Radio and after this I must waiting 5 years to hear it again. Than I have got the Pearls of Passion CD (only a copy, but with ALL WONDERFUL Songs!!). And so it‘s always a pleasure listen to the Song, and how much I want *lol* (sorry, for my terrible english, hope you all understand, what I mean!!)

My fave rox song is: “I WAS SO LUCKY - demo”.

Why?: Because the lyrics are so PERsonal and just beautiful. I get goosebumps when I hear Per sing this song on the demo... and I can really see him in my mind... when he sits besides Gabriels bed at night and sings this song to him with a very low voice so he won’t wake the boy up. It’s just fantastic!!!!!!

7 twenty 7 tits and ass demo

Simply put: it just rocks!

Watercolours in the rain (Great Melody, Marie’s perfect Voice) The rain (same reasons), Come back before you leave( Amazing arrangement!) breath ( wonderfull lyrics) & Joyride (cos I discovered Rox with this one + Fits really great Per’s voice) :-)... almos forget IWICF,(just greaT!!!)

One of my favorite songs is HERE COMES THE WEEKEND.

It’s fool with a kind of sadness.
But at the same time it sounds optimistic.
Sad optimism... did anybody feel like that?
Every time bad things come in to my life, every time i feel melancholy - I listen to the song and life becomes easier. Every thing has it’s beginning and it’s ending...

But when I have right mood I like speed driving.
There were recorded such the things as Harley&Indians, Real sugar, Crush on you, 7 twenty 7, The look and so on!

Nice points about “Here Comes The Weekend.” I feel the same way.

Favorite songs and why...

Ballad:
“Wish I Could Fly” - the production, the music, the melody, the lyrics, the vocals. EVERYTHING is PERfect. ;)

Uptempo:
“Sleeping In My Car” - the song just rocks! Is that enough reason?

IT HURTS: because of the dark and cold arrangement (could be on Smashing Pumpkin’s “Adore”-Album) and Maries way to sing it.

I DO BELIEVE: I love the lyrics and this nice and simple chorus-melody. Almost like a children’s song, but GREAT.

A THING ABOUT YOU: Great arrangement. Especially the verses are great.

QUEEN OF RAIN: Again nice lyrics. Very sad song. The oboe is great.

727-T&A-Version: Like someone here wrote before: It Rocks!

My faves have to be:

I wish I could fly - what roxette are all about

My World, My Love, My Life - Classic

Milk and toast and honey - a great song and the best video ever. Where can I buy that coat?????

A PERFECT DAY- it makes me feel better when i am sad....
U SO FAR AWAY- the same reason
THE RAIN- just a perfect one
DANGEROUS-makes my body rox!
HOTBLOODED- the same!
LOVE IS ALL- great moode before u take a big decision
WELL THE LIST CAN CONTINUE FOREVER I GUESS..

My TOP 5 :

1. Blue Umbrella - the most PERfect song i ever heard. The lyrics are very sweet, Per’s voice is so wonderful and the chorus... oh my... what a great chorus. It’s my all times fave song.

2. It Takes You No Time To Get Here - I love this song’s lyrics and Per singing “It takes you no time to get heeeeeeeeeere”... wow !!

3. Milk And Toast And Honey - I love the chorus, I love the lyrics, I love the way Marie sings it. It’s a magical ballad, with such a positive feeling

4. Sleeping In My Car - That’s my kind of song... power pop, guitars, a absolutelly PERfect guitar riff and a brilhant chorus.

5. Better Off On Her Own - The most amazing lyrics since “Crash! Boom! Bang!”... i just LOVE it.

That’s it.
All the best
LoneGunman

*A thing about you
*(I could never)give you up
*Silver blue
*Things will never be the same

These songs just fill me with emotion - sadness, love, well, anything! They help me through some “tuff times”!

(This is a shortened list)

1. Cry (Look Sharp Live)
2. Soul Deep (Live-Ism)
3. The Look (Visible Mix)
4. I Remember You
5. (Do You Get) Excited?
6. Dangerous
7. Listen To Your Heart (Look Sharp Live)
8. Silver Blue (Demo)

I like these songs for very differnt reasons, but to breake it down a little.

Theres specific tracks show the band for what it really is... Serious musicians who love to play Rock ’n’Roll.

Fireworks: very original to me, and the way the chorus kicks in, just great! Love their vocal work in this song to.

See Me: The athmosphere in this song just feels like magic to me. Marie sings this song so sweet.

Harleys and Indians: JUST PERFECT!!!

These are my 3 all time roxfavourits

“Beautiful Things”, ´cause this is true Marie spirit.
“My World, My Love...” and “I Was So Luky”,
touches my soul.

To me, music just doesn’t seem to get any better than ’Do You Wanna Be My Baby,’ but I love songs where you get the impression they (or just Per) has thrown everything bar the kitchen sink into it.

TWATG is definatly the best example of this to me, (Particularly the previosly mentioned DYWBMB + Sarurday and Reporter)
I also see it in stuff like ’Sleeping in my Car’ and ’She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.’
