I disagree. It’s easy to open a link to a new window either by holding shift key (on Windows) or command key (on a Mac) while clicking a link or by choosing “Open in new window” from the contextual menu. But if we force the link to open in a new window, there’s no way to open it in the same window, even if that’s what the user wants to do.
Here’s a tip: I have a mouse with a scroll wheel and I’ve set it up so that clicking the wheel does the “open in new window” key combo. No need to choose a command from a menu and no need to use two hands.

yeah, I think so... that’s why I use the “Open in new window” option (right-click on the mouse when on link) but directly opening new window would be easier.
